Latest news from the FIM Europe allocations: the ACU/BSPA did not request starting places for the SEC qualifiers ....

Sad. Hope they take part in the pairs & team events next year; they did prior to last year

What did anyone really expect? As Falcon Hammer says, it's sad...but no doubt done "in the best interests of British speedway"... (in a pigs eye)

They do send 1 rider to the U21 Euro's though.

My mistake. I checked the top of the list as ACU is second after ACCR.

Who is that then? Robert Lambert by any chance?

Didnt Rory Schlein compete as a Brit in last year qualifiers? I think Richard Hall did too!

Yes that's true. Schlein just missed out on qualifying for the challenge with an 8th place in Daugavpils, and Hall ended up with an 10th place in Zarnovica.

I was a bit misinformed... it turns out that there are 6 permanent countries (Australia, Denmark, Poland, Russia, Sweden, USA). Each round will have a wildcard.

Torun - Latvia

Gustrow - Germany

Esbjerg - TBA

Great Britian will not take part, the pathetic BSPA did once again respond with a 'NO' to One Sport, although manager Alun Rossiter wanted to take part.

EDIT:

Little piece from the press release:

"The second change concerns the participants – national teams. “This year we have 6 permanent participants – these are national teams of Australia, Denmark, Poland, Russia, Sweden and the new one USA which is of course led by Greg Hancock. We will also give one wild card per each round – in Toruń the invitation will be given to Latvia, in Gustrow – Germany and the matter of the last participant of the tournament in Esbjerg will be cleared later. It won’t be definitely the national team of the Great Britain – this year we invited Brits again and, although riders and manager Alun Rossiter would like to start, BSPA has informed us that none of British riders will receive permission for starting in Speedway Best Pairs Cup also this season” – added the representatives of the organizer of SBPC."

Wonder why British riders struggle on the continent! Would've been perfect for Tai & Bomber + Cookie at reserve

BSPA are bonkers

- Great publicity for British speedway

- Helps develop British riders, become a bigger name & increase domestic crowds
