DC2 11,150 Posted April 21, 2015 Presumably this year's Tier 1 riders will not be eligible as fast track reserves next year & their PL averages will be used for EL team-building? Blackbird, Newman & Garrity look good enough already to be in the 1-5 & to replace some continental journeymen but the others may just slip back into the PL. Midland Red 2,383 Posted May 19, 2015 Have been interested to see the impact of the Elite Draft Riders, with some suggesting they have too much impact on match results Taking EL matches only, and excluding double point tactical scores, the figures so far (e&oe) are as follows: (no. of meetings; match score; EDR score; 1-5 score) +/- +/- +/- Coventry h 4 28 20 8 a 7 31 23 8 11 59 43 16 Poole h 4 26 11 15 a 4 9 10 -1 8 35 21 14 Kings Lynn h 5 70 1 69 a 5 -20 2 -22 10 50 3 47 Wolverhampton h 5 38 7 31 a 5 -55 -6 -49 10 -17 1 -18 Belle Vue h 4 14 -3 17 a 6 -40 3 -43 10 -26 0 -26 Leicester h 5 -12 -6 -6 a 2 -38 1 -39 7 -50 -5 -45 Swindon h 5 30 -3 33 a 3 -52 -17 -35 8 -22 -20 -2 Lakeside h 6 61 -21 82 a 6 -90 -22 -68 12 -29 -43 14 It highlights those teams with the strongest 6 and 7s, and also gives an insight into the performances of the top fives

Your effort is appreciated. Nice to see how the top two teams from last season still managed somehow to get the best performing reserves again this season. Everyone knew the seeding system was a joke, this kind of proves it for me.
NeilWatson 1,995 Posted May 19, 2015 (edited) Cheers for that, Rob Branford should also be on it he asked to be included a month ago. Junior Rob is No 9 in Tier 2. The correct terminology is EDR (Elite Draft Rider) Edit: The EL Green Sheets are now at Issue 8 rather than the Issue 2 referred to. I get you then split it as top 5 8 and reserves 20 but how is this done? How have some teams got negative figures?

How have some teams got negative figures? After 11 matches Coventry have a race point difference of 59 That is comprised of +28 at home and +31 away. Of that +28 at home 20 is due to the EDR riders out scoring their opposite numbers and just 8 to the top 5 out scoring the visitors top 5. So King's Lynn have the best performing top 5, Leicester the worst. Lakeside are being hammered at resrve while the Bees pair are buzzing
Skidder1 7,658 Posted May 19, 2015 There was talk from the BSPA AGM that 2016 teams would have to track at least one Brit as a second string. Riders such as Newman and Garrity wanted that to happen this season, but the Authorities thought it too soon.

If the idea of this is to improve our young Brits then that makes sense., Also allows for a new draft of riders to come in. hey presto 3 Brits in the team at least.

The natural route for Garrity, Newman, Kerr, Auty is to move up to a second string position in their respective teams next year. Putting a rule in place to insist upon a British second string at each club would be the best way of protecting one of these riders from being left out on their ear once they move out of the draft, although I can only think of one club where there would be a threat of that happening!

Depending on the points limit, you might find 1 or 2 EL clubs want two of them - to stop other teams having them and leaving them with poorer riders. Maybe a compromise should have been a return to the old format. the better fast track riders having to ride at 6 leaving the lower reserve to ride at 7 meaning riding against a reserve in all 4 heats so some protection.
