FAST GATER 855 Posted February 28, 2017 (edited) That will be a miracle, you can buy an engine, take it out of the box, and be competitive at GP level, like Fast Freddie, I don't think so, somebody is doing a great sales job here. What if that is somewhere near the truth as has been said mix in experience ,skill and the confidence that the rest of the riders are only beating you because they are more skillful or have set their bikes set up better and not because they are riding rocket ships. waytogo28 2,054 Posted March 27, 2017 So, how many Gerhard engines are known to have been purchased to date? How many have been seen in use at Press & Practice days or early season matches? Almost no mention of it has been made. Does that mean that there is very little interest in switching to G. engines from riders?
Sings4Speedway 3,249 Posted March 27, 2017 Personally i haven't seen any around during the early season although have heard of a couple being tested. The last piece of speculation i heard was that there are some riders still awaiting delivery but due to question marks regarding how the engines will be sealed? Daniel Smith 5,690 Posted March 27, 2017 Didn't see 1 Gerhard at the Simon Lambert testimonial yesterday. Â As I said before though, most of these engines won't be purchased until riders start blowing up their Jawa / GM's anyway. 2018 and beyond is where we may start to see a transition

ouch 1,199 Posted March 27, 2017 Did the BSPA spend money on ordering engines or is it a case of getting a discount if you mention them when ordering?
KN1 168 Posted March 27, 2017 (edited) As was admitted in the SS they used 360k of bspa money to fund a deal with gtr with a view to making them compulsory 😠. Whilst trying to shaft BV riders over pay. and Plymouth for definite and possibly Leicester riders getting half of what was owed to them.😠 Edited March 27, 2017 by KN1

mac101 1,204 Posted March 27, 2017 (edited) Spoken to a good few riders who have tried it and they all said the same they are just not fast enough and won't be buying them the GTR is about 10 bhp less than a decent GM and there is also another engine designed by BMW which is also being tried at the moment strange looking motor you have to plug into laptop to change most engine set ups for different track Edited March 27, 2017 by mac101
THE DEAN MACHINE 4,787 Posted March 27, 2017 Spoken to a good few riders who have tried it and they all said the same they are just not fast enough and won't be buying them the GTR is about 10 bhp less than a decent GM and there is also another engine designed by BMW which is also being tried at the moment strange looking motor you have to plug into laptop to change most engine set ups for different track the other engine is not BMW , the guy who designed it did work for BMW but it has nothing to do with them , you don't plug it in to laptop to change anything , it' is still all mechanical but the ignition timing is changed by preset USB type plugs that you change when wanting different ignition timing , the engine has been around a few years now , it is a reliable engine , similar to GTR in that it is a twin cam , the oil stays in from service to service and it does 100 races between service
