The first home meeting for lakeside in three weeks and what do we have, yet another patched up EL team. Together with a dodgy weather forecast, it's gonna be hard to pull the punters in for this one.

Some good guest's there but why oh why does EL persist with weekend racing. It's just not viable in the EL.

EL needs to drop weekend matches all together.

Why should the EL drop weekend racing instead of PL ? Why should the top league play second fiddle to the lower league ?

Yet another meeting bolstered by guests and track specialists at that. Well, Ben should be!

It'll be nice to see PK and Stuart again but is it Belle Vue? Who cares?

It's quite obvious don't you think. The EL have more international riders. Eg, GPs, SEC, qualifiers etc

I agree that weekend racing is difficult with all of the various international commitments but surely it is not beyond the wit of someone even reasonably intelligent to arrange a fixture list that avoids more PL fixture clashes and events like the world u21's.

We know it is unavoidable for injuries but the BSPA have got to realise that the excessive use of guests for avoidable reasons is one of the major reasons the sport is in difficulties.

Thought Belle Vue were riding? Too many matches nowadays with teams full of guests, a complete joke, at least its saved my petrol money and other expenses, I certainly wont be making the effort to support less than half a team.

Except that there are no riders on international duty. The reason Belle Vue have half a team of guests is that they have riders piddling around in the PL . It the problem is the double uppers not the international riders.

Well come on then explain to me why PL fixtures should take precedence of EL fixtures. ? Matej Zagar and Andreas Jonsson are down to ride. The PL double uppers are missing.

Yes there are, Fricke & Nielsen are on their way to World U21 qualifiers, not PL meetings.

Thankfully Steve Worrall is Belle Vue asset else he would have been missing too as Newcastle at Somerset.

Yes there are, Fricke & Nielsen are on their way to World U21 qualifiers, not PL meetings.

And the other two have PL fixtures. Kim Nilsson missed the Wolves meeting on Monday because of a GP qualifier so not having EL meetings on Friday/Sauturday would not avoid that. The biggest problem with riders missing , apart from injuries is fixture clashes with D/u riders. Cook and Grajconak both ride for PL clubs that race on a Friday so they are always going to miss a Lakeside fixture. That is a DU problem. I don't think Cook has ever been to Lakeside because he is always at his PL club, nothing to to with international duty.

The fact that Fricke and Neilsson are not available is bad fixture planning. It simply needs proper fixture planning not stopping EL clubs racing on a Friday.

Quite right, three quarters of speedway's troubles are a result of dreadful fixture planning. I agree about Cook and Josh G, these are two riders who we are told are ambitious and want to improve so they really shouldn't miss EL matches to ride in the PL regardless of who's asset they may be.

No admission of being wrong about Fricke & Nielsen though, you'd make a great politician ;)
