Makovsky definitely had his moments, no doubt about that!

Seem to remember a few seasons ago at Berwick, a rider excluded for a dangerous manouver, wasn't someone excluded and put out of the meeting at Newcastle

Yes it was Zetterstrom who fenced Christian Henry, who had a chunk taken off his backside. Stuart Wilson was the ref, top man for doing the exclusion/ban.

Good job this rule wasn't around when Makovsky was riding or he would hardly have finished a meeting

So morally, given you aren’t a fan of dirty racing (I don’t think many are) the same rule would have probably resulted in Matousek being banned from the sport, never mind a meeting after he was police escorted out of the stadium for his “stunt “ with Nagy.

Wilson receiving multiple bans for taking Robert Eriksen off for going “to slow” which resulted in a broken collar bone, the incident with Gary Corbett which basically finished him, yet Wilson still wanted to attack said rider while he lay injured on the ground. I can’t imagine he would have been allowed to continue in the meetings where he shoved Olsen of his bike for no apparent reason or took Danny Bird of for having the audacity to dare beat him in a race around Owlerton.

All of which I would assume would result in you agreeing with the idea that riders should be removed from meetings for dangerous racing rather than the creation of a rule for a rider who retired the best part of 5 years ago?

So in short, the rule must exist.

I was commentating that some Berwick fans were saying that the Josh Bates/Liam Carr incident was the worse thing they'ed ever seen in speedway and he should have been kicked out of the meeting, when there have clearly been other similar/worse incidents in the past where no punishment has been dished out.

I saw a far worse incident at Edinburgh earlier in the season with Sam Masters and Lasse Bjerre and nothing happened there either.

If they haven’t seen the other incidents though then to them the Bates incident possibly is the worst they have seen….what happened 10/15/20 years ago doesn’t change that, nor does the incidents others have seen or incidents from other meetings.

It is a fair point that if a rider crosses the line they should be removed from the meeting, it happens in other sports.

I'm not making a comment regarding Bates incident with Carr on Sat as I did not get a good view from where I was standing at the time, but I will say that Bates is not in control of the bike in a good part of his races IMO he is just hanging on and the bikes is taking him round, have seen him a few times now and still get the same impression .

I was on the backstraight and I thought Josh caught one of the deep ruts coming out the corner on turn 2 which threw him off line and into Liam but would have to see a replay to confirm that. I noticed there was a lot of track work going on in that area while Liam was being attended to, to smooth that part of the track out.

Deep ruts in heat 2?

Lot of track work going on in heat 2?

So Cookie wasn't wrong about the track then?

I was standing against the wall coming off 2 bend and the fence is high there just saw him come off the bend on the inside probably picked up a bit of drive that early in the meeting and that probably took him across the track.I just think he needs to get a it more under control at times, only my opinion though.

Deep ruts? In your dreams, mate. Track was fine, better than fine in fact, best I've seen it for months, probably due to the gap in meetings allowing extra preparation work to be carried out.

Your Tiger-specs clearly restrict your vision.

Some riders liked the track and attacked it and others didn't and just plodded around, made for some very strung out races.
