Why not let's change the date and venue of one of the most popular events of the season because it doesn't suit a couple of teams? Then when the re-arranged date doesn't suit somebody else we will change it again. Then when we can't find a suitable date to suit everybody we'll cancel it.

Of course you can arrange it the day before a big event which rules out three of the better riders and then mention rules (not in the SCB rulebook) that rule out another three of the better riders, then you don't get a suitable crowd because no one can be bothered to support it, then cancel it like they did with the EL pairs.

There is always the chance that this date has been in the diary for 6 months longer than it has been known who would be riding in Cardiff and that to call it off and re-arrange would mess the stadium and the promotion organising it about, as well people that have organised holidays and/or accommodation around the meeting and potentially other fixtures that have been arranged around it... yes, its a shame that a few top riders aren't going to be there, but that wasn't to be known when it was organised. Having the fixture on the Friday night has worked for a number of years, why would they look to change it this year?

In relation to the non-eligible riders - that has been the case for as long as I can remember, so it isn't like that have invented a new rule just to annoy people.

Cook and Kurtz shouldnt even come into the equation at all.

King Lambert and Worrall missing so feel for Newcastle in particular

Farcical this meeting is now held when it is.

Its a spectacle for the Premier League and now that more and more premier league riders are near the top of the leaderboard in the British Final, then chances are each season 3 or 4 top riders will be missing.

Time to get this meeting back to where it belongs. By all means keep it at Somerset but move the date away from the gp

If Newcastle felt so srongly that their top 2 riders are missing, then why didn't they pull out of the meeting????

And what purpose would it serve by changing the date?

There will always be one or two riders unavaible due to injury lack of availability etc.

you are correct injuries cant be helped.

but as the standard of reserves and wildcards in the Cardiff GP is of a level of top premier league riders then every year you will have top boys missing

Are Somerset allowed to ride on Sunday ,, the day after the GP...

If so the line up would not be compromised.

There is a full programme of Polish League Division 1 fixtures on July 10th. Sam Masters at least would be riding over there. Other riders named in the line-up who have ridden in the competition this year are Rohan Tungate, Josh Grajczonek, Claus Vissing, although they are all listed as 'unclassified' in the league's statistics.

No riders are involved in that day's German Bundesliga match.

Not all of the top two riders per the green sheets have been nominated for the meeting:

Workington - Ricky Wells (no.1)

Peterborough - Craig Cook (no.1)

Plymouth - Brady Kurtz (no.1)

Can anyone come up with a line-up over the history of this event (which goes back to 1975) in which every pair consisted of the top two in the averages? It would be fascinating to know. Were all of those that didn't all farces? Riders always withdraw or have other commitments. This time three riders are in the GP and people get their knickers in a twist over it!

It's staged the night before the GP for a very good reason - it gets a superb crowd and turns Cardiff into a weekend party.

Craig Cook is deemed ineligible to ride, as he has not raced enough meetings for the Panthers (according to the BSPA).

Same might said for Kurtz (not sure).

Crowd figures are excellent, would be daft to move dates in my opinion
