hyderd 1,216 Posted August 28, 2016 I totally appreciate how hard their job is, I went to one of their nights last winter where they demonstrated the difficulties they have. I've read many times that they are "told" to show ott excitement by the broadcasters, is this not true? like anything in life, if it sounds boring it could put people off, especially potential new fans So Doyle sees his mate tai as an Aussie ? was I seeing things or did tai join in towards the end of the Aussie anthem tonight. What a great GP You were seeing things, I suppose you also didn't see Tai forget to take his cap off at the start of the Aussie anthem. Christ he would of been slated for that if it was the British anthem.
THE DEAN MACHINE 4,748 Posted August 28, 2016 Excelent atmosphere inside the stadium, decent racing with an Excelent final , wish we had speedway stadiums like this , their design is so basic but they look so good , thought Jim Laurence was going to need a police escort out of the stadium for what was a shocking decision to exclude zarmarlik , the poles were not happy don't know what they were chanting but it's wasn't well done Jim

sommelier 1,118 Posted August 28, 2016 Pretty strong criticism of Jim Lawrence right now by all polish commentators. Hi tried to PM you, but wont allow me, please PM me regarding programmes, many thanks
TheReturn 1,724 Posted August 28, 2016 like anything in life, if it sounds boring it could put people off, especially potential new fans But last night the racing talked for itself, we didn't need it screamed at us, we could all see it. The same with the stupid comments he makes about 'the fans are loving this, they're going wild' which then pans to one or two smiling or clapping fans. Always reminds me of that scene from Escape to Victory where the German football commentators have to mask the crown displeasure at German's scoring by putting on crowd cheering tapes. Fromafar 10,365 Posted August 28, 2016 Just watched GP ,that Final was some race.Refs have to stop Yellow outside riders angling straight to the inside out the tapes,if they cause a collision they should be thrown out.IMO.
iris123 20,990 Posted August 28, 2016 I see. So if Poland get a very rare event of a world champion you won't care. Basicall y Steve Poland just aren't a sporting country like we know them. They don't produce many reat sportspeople and the people of Poland don't go to many sporting events.Maybe they like watching it on tv or now livestream, but look at their attendances and it is really very low If you look at the recent Olympics,Poland with a pop of 38 million were below countries like Denmark and Sweden, who have populations of 25% of what Poland has.Look at their attendances at Speedway and football and their gates are around 8,000 average in the main leagues. With 25% of their population Sweden get more at football and Denmark get about 1,000 less.Poor crowds, poor performances and we get some clown trying to big it all up When Pland can compete on the world stage in sport then we look forward to hearing from him.Until then...........GP in Poland and their only chance is 4th
Fromafar 10,365 Posted August 28, 2016 Sometimes i think they grade they track to often,I know there is a delay because riders have 2 on the trot.Lots of time the track is just perfect when the grade it making it stick to the inside again for a couple of heats. TheReturn 1,724 Posted August 28, 2016 He was probably referring to fans during the race, once the race is over most fans will relax, fill in their programme, have a beer or go to the bog, very few will still be going wild. Much the same in football when the action has stopped. Nah, he does it every match, same with the Elite League. For some reason he thinks we need to be told that the fans are loving the action. To be fair, he perhaps needs to tell us with the dross served up on the Elite League most weeks (which is why I have cancelled Sky Sports), but last night the TV audience didn't need telling, we could all see for our own eyes how good the action was.
