Much like some other 'top riders' who struggle to beat mediocre opposition maybe time to cut these guys loose and restructure. Of course the "top guys" don't put the effort into the UK - they just do it to pass a few hours - don't put the effort in and therefore don't get much pay. Really?? How can you compare scores in the UK with Sweden and Poland? With the new race format in the UK, top heat leaders meet other top heat leaders more often than they used to which affects their scoring. The tracks also have a big impact because in the UK, a race is often over by the first bend! I don't subscribe to the theory that top riders turn up to work to put zero effort in! Perhaps it's because he was a Poole asset that Maude let go for Magic who no longer wants to ride in this country. That and the implication that riding for Leicester made him a world beater! Because it was not Leicester that made Doyle, it was his attitude and approach to what he was doing, he would have improved anywhere. If you get paid double in Poland what you do in England where would your best bikes be??? Where would your top pit crew be??? Its not rocket science that the elite league is seen as an after thought by some of the top guys. Holder Iversen Zagar Jonsson, none of those really pulling up any trees over here and riders like Janowski and Pawlicki soon disappear when they realise they could be close to being a world champ. Fair play to Doyle who is loving his speedway life and seems to want to ride every day of the week. He has signed for 2 more years but i have to wonder if his form will dip in that time. We offer them glorified test and practice sessions. Faced with a formula that almost eliminates the easy rides of course they're not going to risk the SGP fame and Polish fortune. They'd be fools to think otherwise, sadly. Some will give it a go if things fall into place on the night but why risk too much for pin money? You do talk twaddle at times Gavan. If you don't think Holder Iveson or Jonson are not pulling up any trees check who is top of the averages. In addition Jonsson is joint second highest bonus point scorer at Lakeside, and shepherding partners hold on top of riding at No 1 takes some doing. As for engines you really don't know what you are talking about. The engines tuned for EL tracks are generally unsuitable for Polish tracks and vice versa. AJ in particular spent a fortune on engines and tuners when he returned to EL racing last year. If you saw the equipment in his van you woukd know the man is an absolute perfectionist who doesn't cut unnecessary corners. The others are much the. Same otherwise they wouldn't be at the top . As for mechanics You can't expect them to fly their Polish mechanics over every time they come but when AJ returned the the EL last year he did bring his two Polish mechanics with him to show his Lakeside mechanic how he wants things done, and his English mechanic is himself a top man who has spannered for Greg Hancock among others, so there is no question of dumbing down. But Matt Ford recognised Doyles potential when he was riding for us. He said on several occassions that if Doyle could get over his injuries (shoulder kept popping out) he would get to the top of the sport. I thought at the time what a load of rubbish, but he has proved Matt Ford right and me wrong. Never thought he would ever be more than a decent heat leader. I have always said the price of FTR is far too damaging to the EL compromising the format while saving money and pretending to be looking to developing future young riders.The only ones to come through the system would have done so anyway ,protected heats is complete nonsense and cheapens the EL nothing more .
