lucifer sam 3,960 Posted September 1, 2016 (edited) HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions face arguably the most important weekend of their season – as they race the two sides directly above them at the foot of the Premier League table. Scorpions travel to Rye House on Saturday evening, before entertaining the Redcar Bears at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday (6.30pm). Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey says: “Of course, we’d prefer to be at the other end of the table in contention for silverware. “But our target is now simple – to avoid finishing the Premier League in last place. “We’ve taken two comfortable victories over Workington and Newcastle in our last two home meetings, and we’ll be looking to keep that run going at the Eddie Wright Raceway against Redcar on Sunday. I think that’s going to be another complete cracker of a meeting. “In the meantime, we go to Rye House on Saturday and we’re very much targeting that also as a match that we can come away from with something.” Edited September 1, 2016 by lucifer sam

lucifer sam 3,960 Posted September 4, 2016 HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions can climb off the bottom of the Premier League table with a victory over the Redcar Bears at the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight (Sunday, 6.30pm). A victory of any margin would lift Scunthorpe ahead of Rye House, while a win of seven points or more would also lift them above Redcar. Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We’ve scored two terrific home victories over Workington and Newcastle in the last couple of weeks, but we certainly won’t under-estimate Redcar, who have a number of riders who can go well around the Eddie Wright Raceway. “But if we ride to our capabilities, there’s no reason why we can’t take another three league points from the meeting. I think it’s going to be another cracker. “The end of the season is rapidly approaching, and we only have further home meeting after this one – at home to Rye House this coming Friday. “My message to the supporters is a clear one; come along and enjoy some terrific racing before we take a six-month break for the winter.” Scunthorpe’s away meeting at Rye House last night was rained off at 6.15pm, less than an hour before start-time. Fortunately, the weather forecast is much improved for this evening, and it should be all systems ahead for the visit of Redcar. There are 24 heats of action in total this evening, with a nine-race second half consisting of a six-heat Northern Junior League match between Halifax and Redcar, and the vintage bikes of yesteryear in three ‘Blast From The Past’ races. TheScotsman 2,484 Posted September 4, 2016 Has kerr got a hangover from yesterday's wedding? Will r/r be required for him again? Do they still do alcohol testing? So many questions.... Oh - and will it be the Peterborough version of Redcar that turns up or the Edinburgh one?

Albert 305 Posted September 4, 2016 (edited) Has kerr got a hangover from yesterday's wedding? Will r/r be required for him again? Do they still do alcohol testing? So many questions.... Oh - and will it be the Peterborough version of Redcar that turns up or the Edinburgh one? Why shouldn't a close family wedding be a valid enough reason for a RR facility?... Of course it should..as should the birth of a child.. death of a close relative etc etc. Speedway should respect a riders commitments and family values. It could be argued that the RR facility put Scunny at a disadvantage, so why would you want to try weaken the spectacle and opposition further by enforcing a NL guest? Its reasons like this that speedway is a mess at times, it doesn't do the sport any favours. If the boot was on the other foot, if it was your team, your riders brother getting married, you may just think differently. NL guest every day of the week, we're not in the NL it's not a development league it's a professional sports league, of course I wouldn't expect him to miss his brothers wedding but no way should you get R/R when it isn't an injury or a double booking within the sport aka riding EL. Its all a matter of opinion... I disagree on this one, I strongly think a RR facility should be granted under these circumstances. Yes, its a professional sport... and as such the powers that run it should respect that.. Grant a RR instead of weakening the product and making it less professional by insisting on a NL guest. Albert 305 Posted September 4, 2016 Recall a rider missing a meeting through the birth of their child - NL guest only allowed.. You cant deny a rider attending the birth of a child... Its the NL guest ruling that's inappropriate in that case...It simply devalues the product and short changes the supporters.
Paul Johnson 285 Posted September 4, 2016 Adam Roynon a few weeks ago if I'm not mistaken? maybe because roynon was a reserve and you cant go r/r with a reserve/.
