Your Team For 2017

Recommended Posts

If you could build your 1-7 for your club with the same rules as this year and on the most recent release of averages... who would you like to see and and which team are you? Eastbourne Eagles, Cradley Heathens, Buxton Hitmen etc

It's a sad state of affairs when top riders from 2016 are pencilled in to a 2017 team. Surely for their own sakes we should be wishing them well for an advancement to the PL and build next years teams around this years reserves and the younger second strings?.

In any case I suspect that there will be such a shake up at the AGM as to render this game rather pointless, come mid November.

I wish and expect many riders to progress into the PL next season however i feel several will benefit from doubling up & the additional rides.

I also expect the points limit to come down and clearly this thread is just a bit of fun for the numbers nerds / a compliment to the riders we expect to improve further in 2017.

...this thread is just a bit of fun for the numbers nerds...

Oh go on then...

Birmingham: - 39.86

1. Tom Bacon - 7.70

2. Danyon Hume - 7.33

3. Jack Parkinson Blackburn - 6.74

4. Jack Smith - 6.09

5. Ben Hopwood - 6.00

6. Kyle Bickley - 3.00

7. Joe Lawlor - 3.00

Stoke: = 49.67

Luke Priest - 8.56

James Cockle - 7.06

Jon Armstrong - 7.82

Ben Wilson - 8.24

Tony Atkin - 6.86

Lee Smart - 5.71

Lee Dicken - 5.42

There you go. A typically young Birmingham team and a typicaly old Stoke team...and despite the 10 point advantage, I'd put money on that Brummies team beating Stoke any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Right, I'm getting the hang of this now.

So instead of all this team-building based on contrived averages, perhaps we could do something based on the combined age of the team.

The older the team, the more points head-start they get.

On that basis, uk martin, the powerful Stoke team that you have just put together has a combined age of 249!

I think that will take some beating and I confidently predict that the Stoke Potters will be NL Champs in 2017.

Firstly i would like to see all teams to be in the league next year. However i do feel we may lose a couple or three for next season & so a lower points limit may put some riders on the side lines.

Bailey

Kinsley

Hampshire

Whitmore

Then whoever is left once the stand alone clubs have had their pick to make the Starlets competitive. Nothing against Campos or Hazeldene but would be nice to see some new younger faces.

If its a head start for age how about

Armstrong - 7.82

Atkin - 6.86

Cockle - 7.06

Mason - 6.54

Tedham - 3.93

Clifton 4.22

Burnett - 3.23

Total 39.66

Under the 40 point limit and that team wouldn't be bottom
