...So, in essence, this team is the Belle Vue Colts and Coventry are the junior partners...

And who is the promoter of the "senior partner"? As in the person(s) not just the generic team name.

Here we have the news that two clubs with issues with their track declaring intent to run. It should be great news for that reason alone. It's also means team places for 7 more riders, more good news. It also means 2 more meetings for all the riders in the other teams, more good news.

Yet speedway fans twist it into a negative, they find fault. FFS

...and won the league.

Can't remember how they split things. Will they ride as Belle Vue in Colts racejackets with a Belle Vue manager when at Belle Vue, and ride as Coventry in Storm racejackets with a Coventry manager when at Coventry?

I Imagine it's a disadvantage for the riders having 2 home tracks and 2 different managers, but it must've worked out OK for Scunthorpe/Sheffield when they won the title.

They were called Scunthorpe when riding at Scunthorpe, Sheffield when riding at Sheffield and Scunthorpe/Sheffield when riding away.

Will they have a pool of riders or be declared in 2 team as sure the rules say you can't be declared in both teams

This is the first time I have heard of this, do you have any details?

wasn't it a couple of seasons ago that there was a hackney/lakeside with hackney based at rye house ? and certainly in the late 90's 2nd tier sides did it , newport & exeter were western warriors, swindon & reading were raven sprockets and you had the anglian angels i think.

More a daydream than a team. Neither location has the use of the stadium secured, Belle Vue doesn't have a promoter at the helm, Coventry is the subject of a Police investigation whilst the stadium lies in ruins. IMHO, there's a few basics that have to be dealt with before we start singing from the rooftops about this "team".

And then there's Swindon. To quote the statement - "Swindon, who are due to move into their new stadium in June, will also enter a team into the National Trophy with riders from sides who aren’t in the mini tournament." - What's that all about? A team of 7 guest riders who will wow the Swindon public for all of 4 meetings only? Will Swindon have to have the same 1-7 or can they pick a team of track specialists for each of their away meetings? Is this like making things up as you go along, or what? And what if the developers "do a Reading" and don't deliver on their promise of a new stadium there?

Don't get too worried uk martin! This is speedway organisation we are watching in action.

And besides the Coventry/Belle Vue Colts strategy the proposed Trophy team for Swindon (for four matches with 'guest' riders) - well that also is something to ponder on.

As the old newspapers used to say years ago "Watch this space!"

i assume that if fans turn out to watch these swindon all stars in enough numbers not to loose money they will be looking to enter a sprockets team next year so isn't that good ?

Depends on if they have a track to ride on. Has anyone been past the Swindon building site? Is anything happening there?

Of course Swindon will have the same 7 riders. Why do speedway fans make this kind of thing so difficult?

Will Mildenhall have the same 7 riders in all meetings? What about Birmingham? Nobody has confirmed either will, will someone confirm this for me? It's leaving me confused!

The convenience of the supposed random NLKOC draw, eh!! Local derbies in Stoke vs Buxton, Kent vs Eastbourne & Isle of Wight vs Plymouth!

It was done a few years ago when Leicester ran a NL team in the trophy. Picked the best available/in form riders but still didn't top the group. Fingers crossed Swindon do get the support and NL comes to the tapes in 2018.

As a side note who would be happy with this team this year? It was the Leicester line up for the first National Trophy Meeting

Yes, I thought that was a bit handy!

Hopefully, the Buxton v Stoke meeting can also be used to decide the Air-fence Challenge or whatever it might be called this year.

There are only so many times that you can watch repeats of repeats.

Instead of pointless challenges put on an individual meeting that includes some of the young hopefuls and mix it all up a bit.

Throw in a veterans race and some old skool stuff and I' d pay a couple of quid to watch that!
