Recommended Posts

Guest

I started attending speedway in April 1946. In the course of that season and those immediately after it I saw the following riders who had competed in the first World Championship in 1936:

Lionel Van Praag

Eric Langton

George Newton

Bob Harrison

Jack Parker

Arthur Atkinson

Bill Pitcher

Norman Parker

Eric Langton, of Belle Vue and England fame - a speedway all-time great, was one of the 1936 world finalists who I saw in speedway action.

Recently saw his grave at Farnley between Leeds and Bradford.
