No he didnt. He said the biggest deal in UK British speedway history. Tony R was on 6k a meeting.

Tony was not on 6k a meeting!! And Magic was never offered a summer deal! The money you talk about would fold the club. An offer was made to 2 GP riders which were good deals but would have worked out around 3k a meeting but due to Polish contracts was not possible.

Not from what Ive heard. It was the biggest deal in British speedway history. Nicki P was on 6k a meeting in 2010 in Pboro.

This is from what i heard from a sponsor and written in the programme. If I have made mistake there fair enough.

Back to 2018.

Do people want Hancock in this team.

Dont believe Peterborough would have paid NP 6k a meeting in 2010 either.

How much did M Loram want then because Tony agreed to ride for less.

I did think those figures were excessive. No UK team could afford those type of figures, like you've said 3k is probably the max, 4k at a push but I doubt that.

Matt Ford was offering to pay 8/9k a meeting for Magic J this summer.

And it wont be Batch. Batch isnt that well liked by Middlo or Matt so it wont be them.

£8000 / £9000 per meeting Rubbish or Speedway promoters are more silly than I thought

I went to few Poole meetings last year and if there was more than 1500 paying fans they would be very lucky

When you take 80% of the crowd are over 60 or kids then 20% of the gate money goes in vat. So you would be lucky to take £16,000 per meeting so Magic would have took all the gate money for a home and away meeting (mad).

It is time for Speedway riders and fans to get real Speedway in this country can not pay anymore than £100 a point.

I think we all agree riders deserve a good rate of pay for what they risk. However you can't pay what you avnt got. Simple really

Tony R was on £180 a point. plus a few other bits and pieces that most of the other top riders would expect as part of their 'deal'!

As for the Greg rumour, lets not forget that Gordon Pairman would probably have some influence in either Poole or Glasgow camps?!!

£180 a point allowing for inflation is about £250 a point now but crowds are significantly smaller now.

£180 - £200 a point sounds a reasonable figure for a GP standard number 1.

So they average 9 over 32 meetings ish gives them earnings of about £54k , not a bad living for one country and they will probably earn similar in Poland and Sweden.

According to to Sporty Fakty it was £850(4000 Zl) a point in Poland last year and £400 a point in Sweden.

In Poland the riders can earn up to about 10 times what they earn here as many of the top riders get a high signing on fee as well.

The top riders earn a hell of a lot more than the figure above.

Which is why we struggle to get the best riders over here, uk pay rates are totally different to Poland or Sweden.

NKI got offered a £25,000 signing fee for Tarnow.

But he wanted Torun,

So do you now see why your 8/9k per meeting for Magic comment was ridiculous. Basically you were saying £750 a point if you divide 9k by 12.
