Mockery it is then!!

Charles Wright and 2 foreign reserves (so a recent British and current German Champion) now able to take the rides of the RS position

It's not really a mockery, Belle Vue only have a strong option to replace Brennan as he's been riding so well!

Thanks found it

If riding at #7 then the #8 must be used.
If the #8 is unavailable a guest from the Rising Star list must be used.
Where a guest from the Rising Star list is used their Rising Star rating AND MA must be lower or equivalent to the lowest Rising Star declared. The Rising Star guest must not be in a current Premiership 1-8

If riding in positions #1 - #5 the options are: #8, RR or G from the Rising Star list.
If the G option is chosen, the replacement rider must have an MA lower or equivalent to the missing rider and can be in another Premiership 1-8.
The 5% enhancement for home riders is not applicable in this situation.

So the rules are certainly more in depth than the headlines at the start of the season .....

They should be made to get a rising star guest and move them to No. 7, so the higher of the two reserves moves up to No 2. Shouldn't be allowed RR for a rising star.

Because?

He is a rider in the main body of the team who got there on merit without any "special heats" to ride in, so his average has been earned..

Same as any other rider who had done the same this season by moving out of the reserve berth, therefore surely exactly the same rules apply re R/R...

The Rising Star position should only be filled by a Rising Star whatever position in the 1-7

And he did have "special heats" whilst at No7 as heat 8 is protected which guaranteed him half his rides against weaker Rising Stars.....

But he hasnt been protected in the top 5 and been there now for a couple of months..

Therefore, only fair he gets treated the same as anyone else...

As long as the rules are clear, which incredibly for Speedway in the UK they appear to be, and all tracks get the same treatment, then that is what should count...

I can see both sides of the argument. On the one hand there is no other rising star anywhere close to the level of Tom so any replacement would be a massive handicap. On the other hand BV could replace their rising star with Hans Andersen for the playoffs. I guess the whole idea of the rising star project is that they progress so it’s probably only fair that it goes on averages, it could happen to any other team next season, it could easily be Leon Flint. Let’s just hope this is a hypothetical discussion and Tom is able to take his well earned place back for the remainder of the season.

Why should a team be punished for having a successful Rising Star?

Thought every team had to have a rising star regardless of averages:unsure:.If a non rising star was a guest in this instance does that then make the protected heat 8 to become a non protected race.So for tomorrow nights meeting between Lynn and Peterborough,Lynn could use K.Andersen if they so pleased for Thomas.

The facility for an RS in the 1-5 is to use the No 8, RR, or another RS as a guest, so neither of the suggestions in bold above could happen.

Just another example of a crazy & far to complex regulation.

The simple solution would be if the rising star is at reserve the teams number 8 stands in or a rider from the rising star list who isn't contacted to a club takes the position.

If the rising star is in the top 5 due to having a great season & progressing as the scheme intended then the same rules apply as to any other missing rider in the top 5

For me if you're going to allow RS's to move up into the top five then you have to allow R/R to cover for them if necessary, but I can see the other side of it too.

It makes a mockery of the protected heat 8 as the other rising stars are not riding against BV rising star but against the German national champion who is at a higher level than most of the RS in the premiership. How is that helping them.

But Brennan rides at 2 for the Aces, so is in Heat 8 anyway. Out of curiosity, if the rising star moves into the 1-5 does he have to ride at 2 becaue that's a protected heat?
