Hawks6991 5 Posted January 6, 2022 It seems that the story about the speedway bib could be part of a future episode. In the TV review section of The Times this morning there was a piece that was supposed to be about last night's programme. However, it covered a different episode. It said "... The banjo story was lovely, as was the one about the speedway bib that clearly meant so much to both parties ...".

I know that Ole Olsen produced a style of boot but they were very different I recall. As I remember the Olsen boots were made by Daytona. Usually red with a white shin big zip up the back with a buckle on the heel.

Similar, but different colour. The white part in your photo was Royal blue, and the dark part from in your photo was white. And I don't think the rider in your photo is Mike Bessent either! A pair of boots and metal shoe are shown and a short clip of four riders racing around a bend - not sure of the track - could be Canterbury ? Mke's wife says that he rode between 1975 and 1978. I did not recognise him from the photo they showed. The track was Crayford, i,m thinking the rider could have been Mike Broadbanks.

He had a motorcycle shop in Bedminster (Bristol). , with his bike on show there. His son Richard? also rode a bit, and was involved in the running of Swindon some years ago. I think Frank rode mainly in second halves, with an occasional team appearance. Apologies for delayed reply, when I mentioned Fred Tuck I'd forgotten about Frank, shame on me, especially as he top scored for Swindon '52. I bought this jacket from W. Clarke of Knowle so it's probably Frank's. His son Richard had rides for Swindon, Milton Keynes and Weymouth '77 '78.
