Very wet in Wolverhampton last two days.  Met office predicting another downpour at 16:00, no sun, correct decision.

I wonder why Wolves didn't say that?

But we don't know why it's been called off?

We do now...

"A mixture of heavy weekend rain, low temperatures and the prospect of afternoon showers have led to the early postponement."

Fair enough :)

Just off? Any explanation?

Forecast doesn't look that iffy... would have been nice for them to give a reason ;)

You would have thought with this being the first home meeting since the terrible news of last week that they would have moved heaven and earth to get it on, while interest in "the story" is still high... local TV in attendance etc.

Maybe the track is waterlogged though... we just don't know

Don't know what could possibly be "suspect" about this match being off, 2 full strength teams (I count using Nicholls as being at full strength) plus loads of publicity over the stadium, could have led to a massive crowd. I'm sure the last thing Wolves would want is a postponement!

Got to say. I was wrong when I did look this morning it was dry. But it does say rain all afternoon now. So correct call. I apologise for my comment

I don't know why they didn't just add that simple sentence to the original postponement message...

At least Tiger/Lion Bomber will now be a Panther for the night :D

I live no more than a mile from the track and yesterday I was working from home. There was no rain at all in the day or evening. Foreasts eh ?

Light rain for about an hour, but it certainly wouldn't have stopped the meeting going ahead. But to be honest the BBC online site forcast much more than that.

Rain in the couple of days before the meeting seems to have been the main driver. Wolves have very limited access for track prep on race days

And one of the track staff confirmed track was very wet from the weekend rain.
