sidewinder 191 Posted April 28, 2023 1 hour ago, Yearbyred said: Tough for the Bears to win this let alone pull back the 10 points. Scunthorpe have 3 ex Bears and Ryan Douglas and second strings who have all done well at Redcar in the past. Bears will need Hume, Bailey and the reserves to chip in to win this one. Absolutely spot on. I think this is a nailed on, last heat decider and thats just for the match points.
lisa-colette 6,061 Posted April 28, 2023 What is up with Redcar? Three riders on zero points at home so far. Or are Scunny just good!
Bagpuss 10,828 Posted April 28, 2023 Tac subs shouldn't be allowed at home!!!!!

Has there either been a meeting where both teams have used a tac sub or is this first time? Yearbyred 1,114 Posted April 28, 2023 Well my prediction from earlier was about right, as the Bears second strings were too inconsistent and poor Jake Mulford has yet to score a point at home. Having said that it was pleasing to see the Bears fight back from (another) slow start and actually win the meeting on the night. For Scunthorpe - Douglas and Tofty were good, Allen a bit unlucky not to score more and everyone contributed. They deserved the aggregate point over the 2 matches. Has some good craic with some Scorpions fans on the back straight too. For Redcar - Charles was back to his very best and King rode really well until Heat 15 . Lawson got better as the meeting went on and Edwards scored well. The other 3 lads need to score a few more points but it wasn’t from lack of effort. Seemed like a good crowd too which is good to see.

Jeffo 16 Posted April 29, 2023 Thought scunny had a few bits of bad luck last night which really helped our cause (bears). Jake Allen's bike throwing a chain when in a clear second place was one.... Our main concern is the form of our second strings and jake mulford at number seven. As yearbyred says above jake has yet to score a point at home and doesn't look capable either at the moment unless somebody falls or bike breaks down. He gated in the reserve race but looked tentative and unsure and was passed easily. Danyon Hume also is struggling badly and is currently averaging two points less than his starting average and was replaced by Jason Edwards in one of his heats. Connor Bailey is getting there I think and needs to be given more time. But danyon and jakes form is a major worry. Just aswell our heat leaders are sensational at present they need to be. Just my honest observations. It doesn't help when you go nearly a month between home fixtures....discuss

IronScorpion 1,413 Posted April 29, 2023 Only 3 race wins but only 5 last places & with our top 3 only scoring 24 points between them, the back up from the remaining 4 was required. A good team effort.

The away match at Birmingham showed they can score points, especially Jake Mulford, so let’s be patient. The Redcar track hasn’t been the same consistency two matches running due to the weather and length of time between home meetings so is difficult for newbies to get a perfect setting. Mulford has shown speed in every race he just lacks track craft as he’s still a novice at this level. Redcar are a patient club and will give the youngsters time to grow, unlike some, and good on them for it. Sorry he was brought off by Connor Mountain on bend 1 . I follow Scunthorpe and one word to describe Charles Wrights performance last night. * Sensational
