Poole "preparing" their starts

Wasn't it the late Jon Cook that suggested the losing team could pick any two gates, so pick one and four, two and three etc. That could open a can of worms.

They did that in the KO Cup one year , just looked weird

There was a time, years ago when a team six or more points behind would not only have choice of gates but there there was no rule to say which rider had the inner of his teams gates. Usually the heatleader chose. It only failed to work in the KO cup at Jon Cooks suggestion because riders never pay much attention to rule changes or take much notice of the score line and were still going out to their programmed gates when they could  have had a choice.

The idea of gates being prepared for the home team is over stated. Professional riders visiting the same tracks every season get to know the track prep and often would have ridden in the past that they now come to as a visitor. Riders talk and most of them are using more or less the same set ups anyway. It’s goes on to a point but probably not as much as people think.

This has been done to death

Of course Poole can do what they like with the starts it’s home advantage and Poole have a team of gaters so they will prepare the starts to help them simple as

And yes in the days of Loram and Nicholls do you honestly think Poole prepared the starts like they do now and enable visitors like Hancock for example to fly out the starts …. Of course not

Poole have a team of gaters they will not prepare the starts or the track in a way that will help opponents hence no passing at Poole

Its not rocket science

There is passing at Poole, not much as Redcar, Glasgow or Scunny. But there is. Actually Ben Barker showed how it was with Plymouth. TJ passed when quarter of a lap behind after first half lap. Quite a few passes are happening on the 4th bend whether it be round the outside or a cutback (Ben Cook good at the cutback).

Or Edinburgh or Berwick or Birmingham. (Just didn't want any of the other clubs that have more passing feeling left out.)

I don’t see what the problem is Poole can do what they want it’s there track, just like any other team can do what they want to there track it seems if there is some sour grapes just because there successful.at the end of the day we are all playing catch up and some people don’t like it and will moan about anything to do with the pirates.

I agree that each home team produces a start gate that the home team prefer, but it is definitely a NoNo to prepair selected gates during the meeting to suit the home team. If there  is differences in gates during a meeting, then both teams get  an equal chance of using them every other race.

Make the coin toss at the start of the meeting be for gate choice,  track grade before heat 15, then the managers do another coin toss for gates only add a minute to the meeting run time and should eliminate gate prep fixing, or a 50/50 gamble.

This is getting so stupid with this talking about Poole doctoring the start gates? Nothing is done through the meeting what's  so ever.  gates one to four are the same team's both team's.
