  1. A terrible precedent that was set a few years ago when Poole called off a meeting against Lakeside as it would affect their planned team changes.

  2. On my hour long walk to work at 4:50 (to Wolverhampton) this morning, the contents of approximately 1400 showers emptied themselves over me on said walk. I was convinced this was rain as it was so wet. However, after consulting with a wonderful thing called technology, this assured me that in fact, this was not the case & I was clearly mistaken. Hope that clears things up.

  4. Godden engines have been around since 1978. This hasn’t just been thrown together, it’s a continuation of development since the mk1. I love the fact that there’s certain people willing to shoot this down without knowing what they’re talking about. Youre online, go and find out some facts about what’s going on before coming on here and making yourself look stupid.

  5. A sample of the summer surrender due to football's World Cup and BSI events: Jun/July scheduled SGBP/KOC meetings: Belle Vue: - 3x SGBP - + Britishb Final & Speedway of Nations (World Pairs) qualifier King's Lynn: 4 (3 July, only 1 in June) Leicester: 4 (+ 4 reserved dates) Poole: 5 Rye House: 4 (+1 junior championship) Somerset: 6 (+ SGBC Pairs) Swindon: 6 (+1 reserved date) Wolverhampton: 3 Given that the survey covers about 9 weeks in many cases it's grim reading. Then we get the rush in August/early September so that four tracks can close nearly two months before the official end of the season.

  7. Hopefully all clubs promotions will now look into the forum as regards future postponements. If they can contact Steve Shovlar he will tell them exactly what the weather will do 48 hrs prior to each and every clubs home matches. He will detail exactly whether any rain will hit any tracks in those 48 hrs.And on this evidence clubs will know 100% whether to postpone or not.So thanks must go to SS for saving speedway a small fortune in the future.

  9. Plenty of dirt for the riders to collect and use to garden at the gate. Imagine out the pits onto the motoX track to the highest point wave to the crowd collect a bucket of dirt while your up there and then off to the starting gate to deposit the dirt in your selected rut ( while maintaining full control of the bike at all times)

  10. We could have had Jack back looks a steal on his current average but Matt Ford didn't want him back this season. I think Newman is good value on his average too but there are reasons why those two arnt back and its got nothing to do with their ability on a bike

  13. We've just been overhauling these fixtures; and because of the way it all falls into place (ie; where we will be geographically on certain days) baring a rain off we don't miss a single fixture Home or Away until potentially ? - 23 June Lakeside Away - and we might end up there as well ? !. Cannot remember a Speedway season where we have felt this "motivated" not to miss a single second ! "SCUNNY GRAND TOUR" - gets underway Friday "under the lights" v Redcar ! - blooming 'ummer this is exciting !

  14. You just cant make up the garbage that comes from Shovlar, including now telling people from Wolves that it was dry yesterday! Seem to remember pre season last year KK - best number one in the league Klindt - best reserve in the league Kurtz and Holder - new turbo twins Newman - Mr Poole and he beat Tai as well , could end up a heatleader How did that all turn out lol This season there are doubts over the Poles, Linus and already Holder has gone awol. Love the crowing about the team this season..................exactly like last year and that went spectacularly wrong.

  15. You really wonder why they have closed down the Unofficial Forum , its not rocket science the same couple of people using it for slanging abuse to the promotion . There's ways and means of getting your point across without starting doing the same on this Forum as well . Pop yourself along to the office and take jenga with you , for gods sake , we have only had 1 meeting and you're off all ready. We approached Steve in the bar afterwards and made our point known about the food . If people had gone to the Meet the Riders/management meeting they would have known about the new ticket system, programme prices . We all have opinions /pay our money but the continuous slating is just getting tiresome !!

  18. You tell me? As far as I can see there is no need for umbrella girls in motorsport. They do not add anything other then embarrassment. In F1, from what I have read, the original use was for them to hold umbrellas to shield the drivers from sun or rain. F1 have come to the conclusion that such service is no longer required. The only "use" the umbrella girls have in speedway is eye candy for old men and teenage boys i.e. no real use at all. I have yet to see a valid argument regarding what the umbrella girls add to a speedway meeting. We don't have them in the Swedish leagues and we do just fine without them. Our spectators comes to the meeting to watch speedway racing not umbrella girls.

  19. Imagine trying to launch an enterprise that at the core of its business plan is the belief that it will be successful by only opening sporadically and inconsistently.... And that its opening times will be heavily dictated to by the employees telling the owners when they are available, rather than the owners opening their business when they can generate the highest customer numbers (and income) through their doors..? Any business person coming up with that idea would be considered certifiable!!.. Yet year on year, this incredibly is how British Speedway allows itself to be ran... Cannot think why it isn't more successful....

  21. 1. Woffinden 2. Doyle 3. Zmarzlik 4. Dudek 5. Zagar 6. Emil 7. Lindgren 8. Hancock 9. Laguta 10. Vaculik 11. Janowski 12. Pawlicki 13. Pedersen 14. Holder 15. Cook Think Woffinden will be back this year to his best and pip Doyle. The two poles will go close but ultimately slip away. Next four speak for themselves. Laguta to go close, Vaculik or Janowski to be close to top 8. Pedersen and Holder nowhere near their best and it will be the last year for both in the GP's. Hope Cook can do himself justice but just can't see him challenging. Hopefully he does the qualifiers and qualifies for next year and gets a year experience on the continent to have a real push in 2019. Would love to see him do well though.

  22. To be honest Lisa the Poole fans i have spoke to at Swindon are not very complimentary about Mr S they don't class him as a Poole supporter through/through as long as he does not change and support the Robins again that will do me.

  23. Well good to see Kurtz and Woryna and Matt S doing well in Poland. Woryna 3 wins for 3=9pts MATT s=6+1 from 4 kurtz=14 Pts from 6 rides. Took a while but last 3 heats was on it. In British news Craig Cook was rubbish. Just looked slow 2 Pts from 4 rides. Hope he sorts it out though.

  24. I am hoping by mentioning it, other fans will think he is worth sponsoring. It's a damned expensive sport, and they need every bit of help, I should perhaps waste my money on a rider that rides for another club, rather than the one I support. I look above snide comments from an odd fan, as I know the vast majority of Brummie fans are fantastic bunch of fans. What should be remembered is it is due to riders sponsors that the rider is able to ride for your club, and on going support allows them competitive equipment.

  29. How good was the racing at the Shay.? Mostly it was good. But also kinda irrelevant - it was worth going just to watch riders sweep up and down that banking. Being (slightly) serious though I loved my Saturday trips to Halifax, and Bradford after the Shay closed to speedway, a relatively near trip on the supporter's club coach meaning I didn't arrive back home too late to annoy / worry my parents, one of many venues which gave enjoyment & pleasure to 1,000's now sadly missed....

  30. No, they like many other brands bow to the pressure of a nasty, vindictive, vociferous minority who 'claim' to be all about rights, but the reality is quite different. Do as they say or they will viciously attack you via social media platforms. You can keep posting 'no longer appropriate for a global audience' as much as you wish, however every survey I have seen of F1 fans and Darts fans has been 80%+ in favour of keeping them. Interestingly there are just as many women in favor as men. It's also very relevant that many of those 'against' don't even watch either sport, they're just jumping on the bandwagon.

  34. For far too long promotions have taken no responsibility for the riders they are tracking or the safety of those around them. There have been many riders who are simply not up to the standard of NL racing but placed on the line with others despite their questionable competence. Others of course have been hauled along with the speed and initially given the appearance of being capable only to have a big off at a later date. As you mention there are then the riders like Liam Millar who get dragged into a NL team (and can't always blame the rider if a NL team thinks you are ready then you are ready right?) does a couple of meetings, scores duck eggs then is dropped and tarred forever as a NL failure despite being introduced too early to stand any fair chance. Many NL clubs do very little to generate the next riders to the sport yet are happy to moan like crazy when the standard of suitable 3 pointers just isn't there.

  35. Ah but you do have 'the problem' as you are complaining about it. So again, what is the issue you have with an attractive woman? Is it sinful? Should women always be covered up? Maybe you'd be more at home in the Middle East? As for people's expectations... in every available survey conducted since this movement towards abolishing women from these types of roles began the support has been massively to retain them. Unfortunately companies pander to a very vocal vociferous, vindictive minority whose aim is to impose their views on others and lambast them if they don't tow the line. You are very much party to that.

  36. As already stated you know nothing about what the weather was like up here yesterday, we had heavy rain overnight and there were showers and drizzle well into the evening, had they not called it off in the morning Belle vue riders and their supporters would have had a wasted journey. There's not a chance the meeting would have gone ahead, believe me CVS would not have cancelled a bank holiday meeting lightly

  38. So, these mostly young riders are taken on by various clubs just so as the fairground operators can keep the show on the road and as long as the punters keep coughing up their shekels every couple of weeks then everything in the garden is rosy? Surely, promoters owe some duty of care to young riders and in return for them trolling all round the country to race for less than 5 minutes a meeting at probably not inconsiderable expense and risk to themselves then the clubs need to give some kind of ongoing support to these riders rather than simply giving them the heave ho whenever it suits their short-term objectives. One might hope that the governing body might lay down guidelines on how young riders should be treated and developed but then we are talking speedway here so there is probably more chance of me becoming Pope Fubar the First. I am trying to remember the name of the young lad who came down from Scotland a couple of season's ago to be Stoke's reserve but I don't think his feet touched the ground before he was given the order of the boot. I hate to think what effect this casual discarding must have on the self esteem and mental well-being of these youngsters but don't lets worry as I am sure there will be some more cannon fodder pitching up any time soon. Seems all a bit shoddy to me but perhaps I expect too much of people.......

  45. It's a heck of a long time ago but at Rayleigh in the early 60s the Rockets had to finish on time to let the greyhound racing take over, so they do have 'previous; ;-) One major change in British society in my lifetime is that we are no longer a nation of non-complainers, at least publicly to bad service providers. Instead of just moaning in private or just putting up with rubbish part of the slow Americanisation of our society is the willingness to complain and to expect good service. Sadly few in speedway have woken up to this and believe they can just do what they want, offer what they want and the customer will just take it. Times have changed, expectations have changed and you can't get away with that anymore. Back in the days when meetings abandoned after heat 6 saw no refunds at all and so with just 6 heats to pay for it could be rather rewarding for promoters, I remember one of the 'old lags' of speedway talking in the old caravan office at Rye House. "Old 'so and so' had a result last night - called off after six." Our much vilified promoter of the day, now happily curating the track at Swindon rebuked him pretty directly, "And what about those who won't come back next week?" Sometimes the ones who are alert to the needs of the public are the 'villains' while those who put together winning teams but don't give a damn about the fans are the 'heroes'. I do hope the new promotion do show genuine regard for the fans. An old friend of mine did complain about the stadium work being dangerously incomplete and was banned for it but I do hope that was just a stupid mistake that has been learned from. GWC quite rightly pointed out that with 30 tracks running we are in terms of numbers better off than 1958 but in those days promoters expected to make money from the sport. Now many are fans who are prepared to make losses. So, while I am concerned about the lack of understanding of customer care or respect you do have to appreciate their determination to keep going. Of course we knew there was a crisis the year before, 1957, when the previous three leagues finally collapsed into one and a certain team spent their only year in the top flight - Rayleigh Rockets. That put them out of business for a few years until the arrival of the Provincial League. I do hope the Rye House version of the Rockets fares better.

  46. I'd rather keep the grid girls in speedway, but do away with the silly champagne splashing at the victory ceremonies. Why do we have to celebrate victory in a motorsports event with alcohol ? That is much more "embarrassing" than having a few good looking girls show the helmet colours of the riders at the start.

  47. I have to say that Speedway nowadays is much more professional than in the past. And because of that Speedway is too dull . Lets look back 10 years 1- more character in speedways riders from years ago.I was lucky enough to begin my speedway days watching the likes of ANDY Galvin, rob Tilbury ,Kelvin Mullarkey!! Dean Barker,Brett Saunders, sean Wilson,The Kennetts and so on.Most were british and had other jobs, but i would look at the line ups in advance and think to myself "that heat looks tasty" im going to that meeting on what drama could happen on the night.Nowadays its very run of the mill stuff with riders wanting to get on to their next meeting, instead of getting up to do their normal jobs . 2 No Pit phone access. For whatever reason sky stopped listening in on rider/ref talk.you cant beat rider emotions and what they think, and makes for great viewing and then interviewing the rider later. Why they have had to clamp down on this,i just dont know,if i was head of sports and had speedway on my list, the pit phone IS A MUST and has to be one of the first things on the agenda, not cutting it all together.Fans love to see controversy . 3 emotions - Speedway is so correct and polite these days, but when rider bust ups do happen, the clips are shown all over the world!!!! Whats wrong with a bit of hand bags ,it just gets the crowd going .Again i wouldnt fine any rider, just let them sort things out.

  50. You ladies and gents, girls and boys are total legends all over British speedway. Most clubs wish they had a group of fans that can make as much noise and create an exciting atmosphere like you do. You lot made the cup meeting at the showground a great meeting to be at. It really did feel like 2 tribes going to war.
