I think it's more to do with trying to ensure away teams are sent home pointless. Fewer points your opposition take is less chance of them making the top 4 play offs. It's all about the end of season points tally that counts. Anything you can do to restrict points scoring by the opposition the better.5 points

Predicted line ups. Kings Lynn 1. Iversen 2. Rose/RR 3. Proctor 4. Jorgensen 5. Lambert 6. Kerr 7. Andersen Poole 1. Kurtz 2. Woryna 3. Grajczonek 4. Sundstrom 5. Kildemand 6. Szczepaniak 7. Shanes After Pooles performance last night, i'm cautiously predicting a 75-15 Lynn victory.4 points

What do you mean - just let them have a team average higher than the other teams because someone was injured? Obviously not as box office as Vaculik but Bjerre has good experience of the tracks in this country and did well last season for BV.4 points

Always good to here from people who are actually involved with the sport. This track lark isn't as easy as many ,including me thought..3 points

Charlie Webster, along with that althlete Jessica Ennis-Hill both went out of their way to publicly abuse Ched Evans. Whilst they might have had the right when he was banged up in prison, humility in apologising once it had been found that he was innocent would have been the correct step to take. Neither Webster or Hill have found it in themselves to do the right thing. Got no time for either of them. I will also say if she’s got malaria it’s her own fault. Wouldn’t wish it on her but really, if you are heading to a country where there’s a chance of contracting malaria, you take a course of medication before leaving the UK.3 points

well I said anything under 40 would be alarming... this was worse than I feared ....... oh boy do the diamonds have problems well done redcar... but don't get too excited ... you wont have an easier home meeting (until we return)....... one wonders how the Newcastle Propaganda machine will respond next I laughed when I saw the newspaper article about Sheffield and in a meeting where we were hammered 59 31, the biggest part was about our 5 1 win in heat 2 justifying our strong reserves and the make up of our team ...... ignore the fact 3 riders got maximums against us Then (and I enjoy Ranting Roy!!) but the bare faced cheek to criticise us 'internet' 'experts' in his article cos he knows better and he likes the look of the team, and then when lindgren wins the 1st race on sunday, he proudly boasts who says lindgren cant be a number 1 - well Roy ..... 12 points in 13 races in 3 meetings would say so No doubt the reports tomorrow will report how superb the diamonds were in the 1st 4 heats and 12 12 was a reflection of this great team. Then the last line will end ... and redcar won a close 58 32............. Still what do I know ....... I'm just an internet 'expert' ...... It gives me no joy to written this.... boy do I wish we had a team like Sheffield (or even Redcar!!) ..... but the criticism of this team .... from what I have seen ...... has been fair and measured .... yes they are all triers ...... but its a team of 7 second strings ....... and I know the promoters hands were tied ..... but at the end of the day we are simply not competitive ....... Scunthorpe would have beaten us if they had picked a better guest (and Roy that's a fact not opinion .. there is a reason why lewis kerr is 6.8) .... redcar will start as favourites on sunday and heaven help us when Sheffield roll into town...... 3 meetings gone and we have won 11 heats ..... that's fact .... not an opinion ps I also feel sorry for lindgren .... he's riding like a man carrying the world on his shoulders ... a he's on a hiding to nothing at number 13 points

Like everyone else Ivan had to learn how to ride Brough when he first came. With long straights and tight corners you have to have great skill to slide in with power and already be broadside ready for the drive out of the next bend. In those days it rode like a Diamond, and Ivan spent hours after the first meetings throwing in the bike from even just past the starting gate, which was one hell of a slide. He often filled his fuel tank full(bigger in those days I believe) and would on his own ride probably 20 laps flat out trying to get it right. He was of course physically very fit, and a lot of other riders at the time could only watch him as their fitness was no good for such durations, He experimented with bikes that he bought when he first arrived until he found the frame and setup that he preferred. Him and his then German mechanic would load up his Bedford snub nose van and head off to buy bikes, and go to other tracks to get extra rides. He was fanatical to get it right. I remember when Peter Kelly lived beside him in Manchester, he told me that if he met him say a Xmas time the conversation was always speedway nothing else, he was so driven. The track in those days was even narrower, with straights always about the legal minimum of 8 metres as it is now, and the corners were tight, possibly be about 10 to 12 metres wide. After we opened up in 1997, the corners were 10m on corners 1and 2 and about 12m on corners 3 and 4. In the late 90's we took 2 metres off the inside kerb of both ends, and that is the shape and sizes that we have now. The 3rd and 4 bends have always been 2 m wider that the 1st and second. The track probably got its 'rough' name over time by others that couldn't ride it, and because with a powered broadside hitting similar positions every lap, the wear must be considerably harder/more. Say a track like Somerest with a wide track. multiple race lines and constantly drifting rather sideways power, the condition of the track is going to be smoother for longer. Nowadays and in the recent past the track is nowhere near 'rough' as delusional Redcar fans would have you believe, but does have by choice more dirt on it to get better grip. That is the riders choice to give them more overtaking options. There must be something right about Brough with 4 world Champions to our claim, Mauger, Olsen, Michanek and Nicki. We'll not count Brian Anderson as we got him for 6 weeks after he won the U21 title.2 points

Jessica Ennis-Hill didn't - she was forced into it by various media because SUFC had named a stand after her after her 2012 Olympic triumph. In my opinion this was a bandwagon jumping exercise as she has never claimed to be a football fan, what else was she meant to say with the hysteria surrounding this issue at the time?? Yet she seems to be carrying the can for everyone who had an opinion about the issue. Charlie Webster did go out of her way to have her say. But I still find some of the comments and sniping at other posters on here a bit pathetic. Some fans may be interested to know how she is now.2 points

Shut up It was Burntfaceman that made the remark about lack of passing from Swindon riders not Shovlar I merely pointed out that from updates it seemed only 3 riders made passes, PK, Ellis and Batchelor and i merely pointed out 2 of those were Swindon riders. Shovlar to be fair posted a post saying that most of the passes were in the first and second bend. Neither me or Shovlar wrote anything antagonistic to each other. I didnt 'yammer on' about Steves opinion. Pretty obvious the track was poor with a lack of passing. My response was to Burntfaceman saying that no Swindon riders did any passing when they did. Pretty fed up with everything i write being jumped on by morons like you2 points

I wonder if they will still be of the same opinion if or when Brandon is demolished? Can the housing developers be stopped from removing stuff, digging up the track and drainage etc? heard the other day they have had a quote to tear down and remove the hangers. I'd love to be back at Brandon just like any other Bees fan, but the chances of it ever happening I'd say are minute.2 points

I love how Gavan can yammer on about Steve's opinion on things when he wasn't there, be it a match or the weather, yet he is allowed to make his own assessments about things he wasn't there to directly see. Such a hypocrite and troll. Please note that there have been pleasant conversations and some reminiscing on this thread between fans of opposing teams over the last few days after we got the 'laugh at Poole losing at home' vibe out the way. Take your antagonistic and trolling ways elsewhere Gavan. You're not welcome here.2 points

Stars get a 4-2 in the last to secure a point. So what? Makes no difference to Swindon, whose top two both scrored lower than their average in heat 15. They'd already secured 3 league points. Bring back the old scoring system.2 points

I find One Sport and their events an irrelevance that clutter the international schedule. Your assumption that by being a British Speedway supporter that I must be a fan of an American (IMG) owned business is a shocking misjudgement. Indeed it seems that this is a line being pushed in Poland these days, judging by Sportowe 'Fakty' where BSI are portrayed as working in league with British Speedway against the interests of Poland. I think you'll find that most British supporters couldn't give a damn about BSI and I'm pretty certain the BSPA would have even less sympathy! Portraying poor old innocent Polish Speedway being bullied by the nasty Brits is morally and intellectually bankrupt. BSI are nonetheless running the premier international events. I have my reservations about the revived World Pairs but the SGP decides the World Championship. That's a little more important than seeing which sponsor wins a curtailed 15 heat 6 pair tournament mainly staged on minor circuits. Whether or not BSI or the FIM are doing an acceptable job is also irrelevant to me. I enjoy watching the Grands Prix but speedway for me is a team sport and my real interest lies purely in the major leagues. I've seen the sport over 40-odd years bend over backwards to stimulate the sport in minor countries and I am still waiting for those efforts to bear any fruit. The 'tail wags the dog' in speedway and the needs of tracks that stage maybe three or four meetings a year often seem to be a greater priority than those in the major nations. The blunt truth is that these efforts aren't working and the developed speedway nations are paying the price! Of course the links between business and sport are there. The question is having the right balance. Just what ARE One Sport achieving, apart from being parasites? I am not here to justify the actions of any speedway organisation, and ceretainly not BSI or the BSPA. Been there, had the T-shirt nicked. ;-) Right now in Britain we have rather more pressing matters - trying to keep our 90 year old sport from collapsing. I'll watch tomorrow's pairs but only out of a deep love for watching speedway. I've watched and worked in the sport at all levels since 1971 and still love it deeply, despite some of the deeply depressing people, some of which were downright crooks, that I've had to deal with over the years. Sometimes I wonder why, especially when reading this forum, bit I still just love watching speedway, but preferably a team match. As you can imagine I can 'smell' bull (trying to keep it polite) from a long distance after all these years and if people are out to pull the wool over people's eyes I'm not the best target.2 points

The Premiership should have gone Monday - Thursday allowed the Championship clubs to also run those night's but they'd have to forego the priority rights to rider's signed up to Premiership clubs. With the Premiership the flagship league they should always hold the priority regardless of assets etc.2 points

A wonderful tribute to Ivan Mauger in today's Star with great words by people who clearly knew and loved the man himself. Made it very difficult to read this morning But brilliantly put together by the whole team. Looking forward to next week's issue which is promised to offer even more and, hopefully, by then the emotions of his death will be a little less raw for us all. I particularly appreciated the chequered strap at top and bottom across the pages ... a great touch. And I have to say the new style Star front page combined with the stunning 1970s photos of Ivan look just beautiful. Thank you to all involved.2 points

Now that the weather has been a little better and things are drying out nicely I am laying down some new shale for next weeks meeting. This new material is a blend of clay and shale 70/20 20% being the clay content. This should change everything and get the racing lines back after a meeting or two to mix it up with the current surface. Glyn1 point

Well done lads a nice 4 pointer. Seems to have been an abnormally high amount of falls even for Armadale standards. But this sets us up nicely for Sunday.1 point

The video is from the Speedway GB website. As SS said, "probably the best race of night" and it was of course won by a Poole rider but then 10 minutes later he had second thoughts and said a different race was "a better race" but suggested there was some sort of bias in not showing it. That's the first time I've heard the BSPA being accused of bias against Poole.1 point

I am in no doubt Batchelor would have given his all to beat them horrible people from East Anglia in heat 15. . It would have made little difference on what he was being paid, or that the points had already been decided, cause he hates Kings Lynn with a vengeance, - and that is what makes the result even sweeter. Only a fool would dismiss the Robins at home, so to push them pretty close I thought we performed impressively. Looking at the scores of last night, we have to be confident of contesting well with all the teams we have to meet on our travels.... That for the predicted Wooden Spoonist, is bound to put egg on quite a few faces....1 point

Quite agree, as some folks don't have the time that others think everyone else has. There are two threads on Ivan Mauger, but has anybody been hurt by this rule breaking ? Some folks need to grow up and get on with their lives.1 point

Starke for Drodz has made BV stronger for sure and they should be looking to keep him on full time. No point having a total shuffle with this one over 8 buisness, I think Hougaard for Worrall would be an adequate replacement. Lets not get carried away, Steve Worrall is no world beater! once dialled in around BV Hougaard would be just as good if not better IMO1 point

It should be there in respect of keeping the meeting exciting. That's the main reason it worked. How many King's Lynn fams were there? They would have been the only ones who cared what happened in heat 15.1 point

Not correct according to people who were there and updates Heat 7 - PK passed Batch Heat 10 - Batch passed Woryna and Ellis passed both Woryna and Kurtz ( now correct me if im wrong but they are both Swindon riders?) Heat 13 - PK passed Morris and Musielek Heat 14 - Ellis passed both MS and Sundstrom (again im sure Ellis is a Swindon rider) Heat 15 - PK passed Batch Now correct me if im wrong thats 2 Swindon riders who made passes and only 1 Poole rider. I gather it was gaters paradise but if 2 Swindon riders can pass its a bit poor that only 1 Poole rider can manage it1 point

Don't think it's fair to say those that are not attending are not real fans. There are reasons why people decide not to go. I agree with the rest of the post. I do hope that some do at least give it a go if they can, I know some that haven't been yet will be going to the Cradley meeting.1 point

Success for me is a sustainable business where we participate to the best of our ability with three objectives - to win, to be solvent (and therefore continue) and most importantly entertain. Success is when people shake my hand and thank me for a great night, win, lose or draw... success is watching our kids from the school progress, success is building a team of volunteers with a common objective, success is knowing that I could not do another thing to make it better... (when I say I, I mean Martin and I). What success isnt is going bankrupt to win, buying victory, or not entertaining, in my view.1 point

And the very reason why no Brit with any real ambition would want to sign for Poole. Short term trophy goals are all that matters. When we do have riders ready and able to challenge on the World Stage again if will be because of teams like Belle Vue, Wolves and Swindon who look long term at the future of the sport in the UK and on the world stage. Thank god there are clubs that stand by their Brits. Long may that continue. Is it any coincidence that 2 of those clubs have been crowned league champions the past 2 seasons? ? Just saying.1 point
