He has a very valid point though. Young riders, as shown in 2014, shouldn't be jumping straight into the top flight. It is at the Championship level there should be a minimum of British riders in a team to give them a position to progress too.6 points

Why would any team choose Jacobs and Perks over Woryna and Szczepaniak ! Considering no one has signed either of them i would suggest its every teams mentality ...6 points

THERE is a lot of utter rubbish spouted on here but this one probably takes the biscuit... congratulations5 points

Except in the SWC. 15 years plus without a final. All of them televised. And I don't remember one single complaint, from anyone, about the lack of a final race. Lets not invent a problem that hasn't really existed.5 points

CANNOT argue with any of that but the fact is that good tracks produce good racing and bad tracks bad racing. If every racing surface was like Belle Vue at one end of the scale or Scunthorpe at the other chances are speedway attendances, despite all the other issues, would be greater than they are now.4 points

Funny that. He’s never ridden for France and only has a British passport. Unless you know different of course.4 points

Not sure why this topic is on the Premiership section? Surely its the Championship teams that should have a minimum of 3 young Brits in each team, plus a limit on the number of foreign riders?!4 points

From what I have been informed Natalie,Kelvin,Nigel and Brando all do the British League Racing for the love of the sport and provide their services very cheap and well below market value as they understand how important tv coverage is to British clubs with attracting sponsors and new supporters3 points

I always look forward to the tractor grading and multiple tape restarts and lots of waffle from the commentators that come with each live meeting. That is why many record the meetings and use the fast forward button, the same with many sports progs.3 points

I once saw Andy Phillips beat Hans Nielsen. Guess he's now elevated to an all time great on that basis. Howarth is already better than Auty has EVER been and will likely improve further in the future.3 points

Good way of putting it. Also, of course, someone who finished behind their partner gets a bonus point - so in the event of a tie, bonus points are taken into account. In every way, the team that finishes second and third in a 3-3 should be the winner of a pairs event. Some pairs events even used to even have a 4,3,2,0 scoring system.3 points

If TV is the dictator then I'd like to see is a 2 heat grand final with standard scoring system. Where teams get to go off 1&3 and 2&4, if it ends 6-6 the highest scoring rider from each pair has a match race.3 points
-
Yes. And if they are so far ahead after forty odd races then they really should be the winners. ACTUALLY , I don't know what the obsession with a final is all about here anyway I know TV demands keep being touted but the SWC operated successfully as a Speedway event and a TV spectacle, packed with drama, and it never had a 'final'. And the TV folk didnt seem too bothered AFAIK. Lets hope that the lunatics now running the asylum don't bring the SWC back next year with that added 'final 'nonsense tagged on the end in some daft way, and spoil something else.3 points

Auty has failed at top flight level over and over again. that said I prefer him to be a reserve than a foreigner.3 points

If he's sorted his issues out, well done to him. Perhaps he has to be back for an appointment maybe3 points

berge is very good at Berwick. He has never had a second season with any club despite generally increasing his average. I believe he is a temperamental character.2 points

Amazing how wrong quite a few of these points are , so maybe post facts and not gossip about the situation , for one we could not have made play offs via the last Sheffield meeting Ellis missed, it was mathematically impossible, he was up front with the club about the u21 championships Ellis had only 2 bikes , how was he meant to ride in Redcar Thursday and be in Germany in pocking 17hrs Drive non-stop for practice Friday midday ? Think being chosen for you country is big honour and Ellis took it seriously, he was also only reserve for the final in rybnik in Poland but actually took Bewleys last 3 rides , Ellis made an effort to get back to Newcastle on the Sunday and it actually cost him and myself to fly back to make the meeting for Redcar at brough Park , he borrowed bikes from Rafal Konopka in Poland to ride for the final , but unfortunately we don’t know anyone in Germany to do that so his bikes were in uk for Redcar meeting , unless you can think of any other way of getting 2 bikes from Redcar on Thursday evening to pocking in Germany the next day quicker than road , be my guest and maybe you could have offered to buy Ellis a couple bikes as he certainly didn’t have money to do so , Dan had 2 more bikes so he is able to fly in and his father and Steve Lawson drove his extra equipment over. Just thought I would clear that up for you , if you want any more explanation, feel free to pm me and we can discuss it over the phone Via facts2 points

Well done to the one track wonder Ludvig Decent meeting and much more spirited display from us! Could tell how gutted Spud was at the end but hell, it was still a point! Jye and Dany kept us in it with that heat 12! Onwards to Redcar now!2 points

think its only starman whos trying to defend what everybody else including the promotion pretty much accept as a total cock up,starman is in no way involved with any aspect of track work and probably only knows as much about it as most other members of the forum despite his constant ramblings on the subject.hope im not going round in circles! but poole fans have got to sit tight and hope the guys can sort things out,in a very tight league despite our present position were still right in there, and as i said previously any stick re last wed weve just got to take on the chin2 points

In most cases I would agree but in this case there is some merit It should be in the championship that things like Brit only reserves should start as well as min Brit quota etc2 points

WHY would you have to pay a transfer fee for a rider who has no contract? Riders move around quite freely in Poland and Sweden once their contracts have expired.2 points
-
I have said for decades that any rider from abroad coming into Britain should keep their assessed average until they reach that standard and never go below that figure. Should they be ruled out of a meeting injured then that team can only cover for his real average not his assessed average. So if he comes in on a 7.00 but is averaging 4.28 then they can.only use upto 4.28 to replace him which is most likely going to be a British rider getting the rides. It also means next season will that track want to bring back a rider still on a 7.00 average when he is no where near that standard. Yet again more chances for home grown riders and most if not all second strings and reserves will be British2 points

The rules and regs are catch all anyway and can be usually tailored to fit any given situation depending on who's asking, despite the inconsistency of a previous ruling that someone will invariably find. They rarely close the loophole but just let it blow over until next time.2 points

we will do our best to make sure you go to the next round , you have an agent in rene and we have a weapon in klink . a proper weapon !2 points

A classic match. Feared the worst after expected 5-1 win in heat 12 turned into 1-5 disaster, but great character to get the win. Bandits point very well deserved. Another strong home performance by Ludvig, and Carl should be feeling very proud of his performance tonight.2 points

Sorry, highlights just don't cut it. You have to see the full story to understand the scoring. Many people want to keep a scorecard going while watching and the result would probably be known which would ruin it all. If you want to watch bikes going round then fine, but I think speedway supporters look for more. To me, if it's not the whole meeting I couldn't be bothered. After all it only takes under half an hour to show a complete meeting. Also the emphasis on services like BT and Sky is very much live sport. As for highlights of other meetings much of the video footage shot at UK tracks isn't really of broadcast TV standard technically, especially when shot single camera from the back of the terracing. Of course some are up to standard but it would be a tangled web. I expect you'd have to pay out for full match coverage rights of Polish and Swedish matches - and then just show one or two heats? Not cost-effective. If nothing else doesn't such a line send out the message that speedway really isn't worth watching unless you just cut it down to a few minutes of action? Things are bad but not that bad! While BT aren't paying much for their coverage their on-air promotion of the sport is top quality. Trails for the SGP and Premiership coverage are shown constantly, often during their coverage of major sports. In addition you often see a trailer run between say a top football Champions League match trailer and one for a top Rugby match. These are big money deals and there is speedway being given equal prominence. During the Champions League final, which was watched by just under three million viewers which is incredibly high for pay_TV, during a break in coverage, there was the Rye House Rockets logo on screen as part of a promo for the following Monday's Premiership match. As a Rockets fan of old (back to Rayleigh) I could never dream of the team getting a mention during what used to be the European Cup Final! You can't buy publicity like that! Well you could, but we certainly couldn't afford that. On air, BT take the sport very seriously, promote it heavily and give it high prominence. Hopefully in time the financial deal will reflect this.2 points

Thanks for the info, Star Lady - always useful to know about these things in advance. If you'll forgive me for going slightly off topic, do any King's Lynn fans on here think the attendance for this fixture could be adversely affected by England's World Cup football match being on TV at 7pm the same evening?2 points

Extremely sad to see how far this great club has fallen- I was there when a far from fit Thomas Gollob won the world title2 points

But they're doing their jobs wrong aren't they - or Nigel is anyway. Telling us before Heat 21 that Slovenia and Latvia were both out and Ukraine were in Heat 22. Keeping the score correct shouldn't be beyond the capabilities of the commentator should it?2 points

ASSETS are a nonsense. Unless a rider is under contract he should be free to go wherever he pleases. Works everywhere else.2 points

I think the idea of having a final works well in the GPs, as it all adds up over a series of rounds but also gives a definitive champion on the day. I don't see the point of having a final in a Pairs final. Even less so in a 2 day final. And, yes, as you say, nobody is going to be busting a gut to get points as there's little point to that, so the racing will be of league standard rather than World Cup standard - which was often exceptional as every point was vital.1 point
-
we dont have to beat edinburgh , we only have to draw . worky will have the better points difference !1 point

But then the Rye House promotion took the decision that it would be full price admission for the televised match and we saw less than 500 people watching a "high profile" speedway match. It should have been heaving! Lost opportunity there.1 point

ALL of the problems were foreseable before the event. Almost ALL were created by the FIM and the organisers themselves. Pretty much all were detailed here on this forum ad nauseum. Unfortunately people just ploughed on in denial.1 point

Tuesday will see only three teams really capable of going through bar some bizarre event as GB, Australia and Sweden are far too strong for the rest and Milik on his own cant save the Czechs. So basically three heats of equal standards and twenty just to fill up the programme. Hope GB give Bewley a few rides even if it's against the mighty Finland and Italy. May be a great track but not a great format unless it's the finals with seven capable teams.1 point

Yes i agree to moan about assets like Hans riding elsewhere when he could have used them its his own fault for not using them. Crazy not using Hans.1 point
