I really think Robert will be the next big thing in British speedway. I don't think he gets all the plaudits he deserves whilst lesser riders who do well in one GP just seem to have to put their Kevlars on to get people raving about them. In football terms Robert was unplayable last night and really put on a display. I notice he's top of the SS averages and it's clear to see why. I really enjoyed watching him race yesterday and I genuinely hope he goes on to fulfill his massive potential.

My 1st visit to Redcar What a great little racetrack, you lucky people. Nice to see the hand of friendship offered to the children from Chernobyl and getting them on the centre green for a dance. Redcar promotion you get a big thumbs up from me Onto Scunthorpe tomorrow. First time there too I hope the rain isn't as bad as forecast.

Swindon as a club, should be charged with bringing the sport into disrepute. For a disaster like this to be shown live on TV was an embarrassment for British speedway. Those responsible should be ashamed of themselves.

It will be interesting to hear from Swindon riders and Fans (and promoters) when making comparisons between their homes meeting on Monday and of that we saw last night. The two occasions were a world apart. Basked in the hot weather we have endured Buster prepared a track that was fitting for any meeting and not one speck of dust was to be seen. The meeting flowed with efficiency and the good crowd went home happy. I thought Swindon battled well, had no answer to the Stars strength in depth. By only supplying 4 heat winners, in the end, Swindon were never going to find enough points to inflict any damage. The star of the show was undoubtedly Robert Lambert. In all my years this was as good performance I have ever witnessed by a Stars rider. Even comparing him with the likes of Lee, Crump, Henke, Rickardsson, this was comparable with them all . Back in the years when Lee ruled supreme, I sometimes thought he missed the gate on purpose to demonstrate his brilliance from the back, and last night the thought again crossed my mind. Lambert's heat seven win was something else, utterly spellbinding.. In heat 11, against the fast starting Morris, he hunted him down before executing the move as they stared the last lap. another exhibition of his ability. Even against riders of the calibre of Batchelor, Morris, Ellis, and Musielak, when Lambert made the gate, he cleared off in front, sometimes 50, 60 mtr ahead as if in another race. He was that good. All in all a good night, decent crowd, good racing and the right result. Watching Lambert on this form was worth the admission fee alone...

There used to be plenty of inter team rivalry and riders having fisty cuffs however that difficult for that to happen when the following night those riders could be in the same team. For that to happen you need to return to 7 riders 1 team end of.

I have to say that when Ipswich ran the John Berry memorial meeting several years ago under the old 13 heat format with the old regulations I quite enjoyed it. Team managers being able to select what gate their riders went from naming your top 5 in any order all added an element of tactics that is sadly missing now. As for the 13 heat format and second half yes I enjoyed it however my personal favourite was the old National League 16 heat with 6 heat junior league match from the late 80s. Sadly the sport is way beyond what heat format should we use.... Major changes are required.

This inadvertently sums up the thinking that bedevils the sport. If promoters need to commit to 20-heat meetings to make a better night's entertainment and provide the paying public with better value-for-money, they need to be putting it in the riders contracts that they're obliged to ride in whatever events are required of them, and riders should be fined if they bugger off early. Similarly, those saying that 13 heats would 'cut costs'. The whole financial viability of the British speedway is at stake now, and costs need to be restructured around a lower semi-pro level, anyway, so again you structure the pay policy around what's required to put on attractive and value-for-money meetings. Find the riders willing to commit, which are unlikely to be the international journeyman, and structure your competitions around them. I personally see little point in running second-halves (or 'first-halves' for that matter) that have no meaning beyond the end of the meeting, but you could easily have a structured competition that scores points for some meaningful season-long event, or some sort of league bonus points.

There is potential for a rearranged fixture on that date .. far from certain but fans, last night, were advised to check press and social media for any update.

Considering a number of the Robins riders are carrying injuries and Zac was just returning from one the team did pretty well. I think with a fully fit team the Budgies could have won it. Lambert aside (who's different class at the moment) KL are nothing special. Other than Jack Smith I'm with Rosco in not making any changes. It's good to have some continuity in the side and you can actually identify with a set of riders. If we don't make the play offs so what? Things aren't going as well as last season but let's see if these lads can turn it around.

Did I hear you say Lynn have announced the guest for the next 2 meetings already... All fit riders attend conference....No dust bowl... Credit where credits due. Shows after the call off gesture as well that they are thinking of their fans more now. Good show

Richie is fine with the track - won quite a lot of races there when he remembers which way to turn, it’s just the supporters he has issues with. Its a mutual thing

I think it's a shame that the Masons in their first year as promoters ,have unwittingly let Rogers get involved , I know he is a plausible Svengali but it doesn't take a great deal of investigation to uncover his long track record of disreputable behaviour .and a fledgling promotion can well do without the sort of controversy he creates .masked by the cheery chappie that everyone loves act . if only the speedway fraternity were a bit more vocal ,as a few on here have been ,we would have rid ourselves of him long since , sadly though ,he will just go to ground while this all blows over ,and then resurface whiter than white until the next time he fancies making up his own rules

Excellent meeting with some great racing. Late start due to exchanging tickets (only at main Ticket Office) and late arrival of Ambulance (can't be helped). What gets me is that there is no consideration whatsoever for those people who arrive on time for a 7:30 start - not just this meeting, but in general. People may have arrangements in place (trains to catch, etc.) for after the meeting, yet these seem discounted in favour of a needless interval.

So good to see Mark Riss scoring well again tonight, it's amazing what having your favourite track as your home can do for your confidence. I guess a happy rider is a better rider. He seems to be able to score ok in our main body. Come on the Witches!

The team riding could have been bit better but it wasn’t dreadful. Etheridge was fast first 2 laps but then started to slow, Fricke was looking for him but Thorsell was all over back of him. The track is so wide with racing lines it is harder to team ride to keep someone behind, if Fricke had slowed more good chance Thorsell could have had him.

I quite agree about the cost of the programme.At Redcar the programme is £2.50 and basically there is nothing in it. I always buy one ,I don't know how people can get full enjoyment without one. Surely a basic score card with results and fixtures is all that is needed costing say £1.00. Does anybody really look at all the adverts in a programme, I dont

I think the current 15 heat is the best formula the UK has used, I certainly wouldn’t favour any change in that.

Absurd is constantly calling for riders to be replaced when the alternatives will not strengthen the team. Latest GSA show Bellego 6.10 & Smith 2.00. Combined 8.10 minus 0.54 to bring back under the 42.5 point limit = 7.56 for two riders. Answers on a postcard who those riders would be and how they would strengthen the Swindon side.....

Boxall is a good signing, reached higher heights than Bowen previously. Just never had the clean cut image and dedication to his equipment I feel to have gone all the way. Never the less as we know a good rider at this level.

Keeping Smith seems a very strange one as last after last does him no favours. The lad is trying hard but is it doing him any good? Swindon have Zach but he is returning from injury. And he needs backup. Nothing has been done to strengthen. In comparison Poole started with Spanner and Shanes. Shanes was and still is popular but was replaced by Neilsen who banged in bigger scores until injury. Then replaced by Klindt who is stronger still. Fredie Jakobsen is a step up from Spanner. Improvements. Swindon have stood still while other clubs have improved. Could bite them on the jacksy. But their fans can be happy with the loyalty shown.

If Rye are to return in 2019 then I think they should enter the National League with a team, after the fiasco this year they need to ........ 1) start from scratch again 2) walk before they can run 3) build up the fan base again (and the fans belief in BMR again) 4) Build a team they can afford and survive the season 5) ensure they run on a Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon. Ambition is great and BMR had / have plenty of that but for that you also have to have deep pockets and it seems you have to ensure your face fits and be in with the right click of people when your sitting around the table at the big HQ. BMR need to look back over the Silver years, many people moaned about Len (including me) as a promoter, his teams, and his presentation but and its a BIG but at least he gave us speedway virtualy every weekend throughout the season for a great number of years.

Maybe speedway can reach a whole new low - Schlein to ride for GB & Australia to use rider replacement for him.

Typical speedway replacing a minor irritation with a rule that is completely irritating. If I was a ref I’d release the tapes just as the roller had to stop before hitting the tapes. Also if a rider pulled back as we see some do, I’d get him on the phone after the race and tell him he’s out if he does it again. Whilst speedway is essentially a basic sport it shouldn’t be so basic that it can’t adopt technology to help solve this issue.

I thought it did work. It was innovative and far more exciting than the riders lining up or trundling around the track. There should be more connection with the fans and that was a start.
