The Championship should have NO SAY in Premiership matters going forward. In 2019, if Championship clubs wish to continue on a Thursday they have 2 options:- lose all priority to rider's in the Premiership or step up a division.6 points

Exactly what I was getting at a few posts back! It is supposedly the Top 8 who qualify, but then it's like we have automatic wild cards for those who finish 9th and 10th! I'm not saying I agree or disagree with with the actual numbers of qualifiers, but it defeats the concept if they simply pick 9th and 10th too... Steve3 points

VOR does not help his case when criticising JC for things over which he has no control (i.e. stadium seating) - his general bitterness, coupled with a total inability 'to let it go' tend only to make him a laughing stock amongst the more rational forum members.3 points

Oh your Gavan everyone was talking about you I din't have a clue who you were other than they were saying you were some pervo on twitter, nice to meet you at last3 points

No doubt they would. But that was as true 'then' as it is 'now'. If there was a guy outside the SGP who was good enough to mix it with the SGP top 8, had star quality, real pulling power and just happened to be the right nationality to add to the series .. Then considerations about whether or not be did the qualifiers would miraculously turn to dust and he would be offered a place. And rightly. Just like they did with Emil. But that is not Madsen ... Or any one else. At the moment.3 points

Mr Shovlar would make a wonderful politician, fantastic at ignoring and denying negative issues and peddling propaganda to deflect attention. Definitely a missed vocation3 points

lol comedy gold. Ask Jason Doyle where the hole was im sure he can point it straight out to you. All the Poole fans have spoke about the hole appearing and the remedial work carried out.............................everyone except you shock horror. Where is your detailed match report as well? We got a full blown rider by rider one when Poole beat a very weakened Somerset team.........................oh yes silly me you got beat so the report goes out the window.............3 points

No Sam didn't design it. Well, he did have input in the first place but then went back home for a wedding (I think) and while he was away David Hemsley went his own way and carried on with the track how he wanted it. Result ~ poor processional racing for years.3 points

yeh does show it clearly womble, myself and several other poole posters new there was a hole there, just a couple posting their usual nonsense2 points

Well what a season it has been, so unpredictable. At the beginning of the season there was so much negativity from some of the Kings Lynn fans about their team, while us Poole fans thought we'd got it right! Personally I think Somerset are the team to fear over 2 legs, having said that, all of the Poole team are capable of big scores, just so inconsistent, if they could all find form at the same time we would be unbeatable!2 points

Too right. It seems to have been forgotten just what a daft pick he was last year and just how many people here were arguing against it on good grounds. Only to hear of his 'surprise' pick by the totally independent FIM. No outside considerations were made, of course, it was done entirely on merit.2 points

Tell me about it ... I have experienced all of this helping a rider over the last few years. He has now given up for all of these reasons, plus others.2 points

When I go on google maps (doesn't have to be google maps) and look down on Leicester speedway track, and look down on Leicester Cycle Speedway at Slater Street, they look the same shape, although one is only 75 yards per lap. Many years ago (1965) I raced on the Slater Street cycle speedway track, and it was absolutely fine for that sport, but the speedway track truly is a poor race track. Going back to David Hemsley, if he has been 3 times World cycle speedway champion and 5 time British champion, then he must really have been a brilliant rider.2 points

Another example of reserves winning meetings is now at Workington, a former no1 is now a reserve & beating riders that he couldn't do before. It is also about team building & Newcastle & Berwick are proving that you don't need no1's but strength in depth to win meetings as their reserves, between them, often score 15+.2 points

Unlike some of the posters, I WAS at the meeting and it was one of the best meetings I have seen in many a day. As to the remarks about the track. I was talking after the meeting to a member of the track staff. He told me that the track was under water first thing in the morning with rain all day on Sunday. He had spent all day ( apart from during the Dog meeting) drying the track in time for racing. No riders got in any trouble with conditions, far from it, that is until the last part of the meeting when a soft patch seemed to appear on bend 3/4. It did not affect most riders, but one or two, including the unfortunate Danyon Hume, were caught out. My guess is that the previous day's rain had softened some parts of the track. To call it disgraceful is far from the truth. I have seen many tracks start their meetings in much worse conditions. The Kent track has been very good on every occasion I have visited this year ( about 6 times). I was a happy contributor to a very big Ben' Fund collection. A very worthy cause..2 points

The injury to Luke Bowen had nothing to do with the track conditions. It was simply a racing incident when James Shanes attempted to pass Luke on the outside. The track last night was in good condition and apart from the unfortunate injury to Danyon Hume it was a thoroughly enjoyable meeting. Best wishes to Danyon for a speedy recovery.2 points

Sure, meetings need to move on fairly quickly, but 60 minutes is far too short. I would say 90 minutes is a more reasonable time. You need some time between races. What you don't need is hanging around while a tractor chugs round for 5 minutes.2 points

No hole, you say. I have seen the video of heat 15 on the speedwaygb website. JD makes a reasonable gate from 2 hits something, straightens up and nearly collects Harris on his way towards the fence. Was it your wallet, Steve?2 points

With Newcastle still to visit in league and cup, might be a good idea to run that as a double header, should be an easy 3 points and next round of the cup. And only 1 travel.2 points

There definitely was a hole! Went to look at it after the meeting.2 points

How the hell did Wolves win that? Should have been a cake walk for Belle Vue. Whoever finishes top will be heading straight to Manchester in the semis first leg.2 points

It has taken a little while finding and translating the relevant rule- but an apology might be necessary for the Tarnow management as Henry is right and heat 15 has to be the 2 top scorers(or a choice of 2 if more than 2 are tied). Obviously it might have been tactically better for Tarnow to be 6 down after 13 rather than 4. I myself wasn`t sure and there are additional rules about reserves use in 14 and 15 etc. https://speedwayekstraliga.pl/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Regulamin-DMP-2018.pdf2 points

I agree re Morris, very lucky to get a second bite of the cherry. I note you are somewhat scathing of the Swindon track. Now I’m not going to defend the Swindon track, I can’t. There was minimal passing, it was decided by 1 & 3 and said as much, however, I have just read your report from this morning’s match v Somerset. It would appear, from your report, that the racing was top notch as I can find absolutely no mention of the track conditions at all within your missive. However, several attendees, Paddy The Rebel said it was ‘very poor’, Lisa Collette ‘dusty’ and poole keith talked about ‘the holes’ in the track. It would therefore seem there’s a hole in that particular report Steve. I have no argument with what you have said re Swindon but at least be equally scathing of your own track if that is the case.2 points

The final at Wembley of the 1973 Daily Mirror International Speedway Tournament is my ultimate favorite Speedway meeting of all-time ! http://www.internationalspeedway.co.uk/tourdmit73.htm How I wish we could have a proper Speedway World Cup Tournament along these lines every four years ! This Meeting has all that I love about the sport. After 19 days of a round-robin tournament with twenty-one meetings held at tracks all over the country with the world's top seven international teams, followed by two semi-finals, the top two of England and Sweden met for the Grand Finale of this wonderful tournment at the greatest of all speedway venues, Wembley, with a fantastic crowd in attendance. Even the tv coverage of this event is better than most of today's often drawn out live coverage, there are no boring breaks between the races, no restarts and warnings for riders moving at the tapes, it is action all the way in a condensed form that keeps everyone's attention high. The introduction of the Swedish and English team riders is beautifully shown before the racing commences. There is no track grading shown and no need for mostly boring interviews with the riders, to fill any gaps between the heats. Commentators Lanning and Briggs make this TV show even more enjoyable to watch. The sound of the old-style speedway bikes (plus the unmistakable smell of the burnt Castrol X oil), engines roaring majestically deep, instead of today's unpleasantly shrill sound, and the 13-heat format (remember: Happiness is 40-38!), and the main event to be followed by a full second half's racing which offered some variety for the spectators. This is all so damned good, I wonder why oh why they ever gave it up for what we have come to today. Poor fools we all are, to have let our once proud Sport go to pieces! Today's speedway promoters and TV producers could learn a lot from how they did it back in 1973 !1 point

Thought I'd start this one up as yet again not a great deal of interest. Even with a depleted side hopefully we should prevail and get all 3 league points up for grabs. But then again I thought that against Peterborough last week although they are in a completely different ball park to the Scorpions who are also missing Josh Auty. It should be a nice routine comfortable home win but you never know with the Witches !1 point

Don't think any Lynn fans are underestimating Somerset whatsoever. If you read it properly most Lynn fans apart from Danny Smith would prefer to ride Belle Vue if they make it and if Lynn got the choice in the semi final. The reason being Lynn don't do so well against Poole. This would leave Poole v Somerset in the other semi, the only team that could beat Poole over 2 legs. Now we are not underestimating Somerset at all it's just that we feel we would have a better chance if we were to face Somerset in the final rather than Poole. I tried to make it a bit clearer for you, maybe we put things differently up here to you lot from down South1 point

I cant see Poole having first choice. Both Lynn and Somerset have matches in hand, I will be most surprise if both don't finish ahead of Poole. For them to be in with a chance their match at Lynn tomorrow is a must win, else they will be 3 points behind with just Wolves to play at home. Even if they win at Lynn it still wouldn't guarantee 1st place , so no doubt Matt Ford has already resigned himself to the selection of others.... The ball is firmly in Kings Lynn court now, especially with matches in hand and the riders all peaking at the right time. After so many years, It will be only fitting if we can finish top of the pile and have that first choice. Me, Assuming the other teams are BV and Somerset, my thinking would be to leave Poole alone. Have never liked the Dorset track, it makes it too much of a lottery. From my experience the bad tracks outnumbers the good many times. The other teams in the Play-off all have decent tracks that can be raced on. The NSS is the pinnacle of track design, always giving both teams a chance, so for that reason, my choice would be Belle Vue... Also, from my memory, Somerset go reasonably well at Poole and could quite possibly beat them, Giving us a final of 2 teams that have never won the top league before. This could be a momentous finale of a troubled season for our sport.1 point

No sh!t Sherlock, one word Bewley! He is irreplaceable, was scoring far higher then his average, R/R scored 5 points from 2 meetings, Bewley would have scored at least 18 if not more. Of course any team is going to pick Belle Vue as we are severely weakened!1 point

Name any other sport with a standing start where the athletes/drivers/Riders are allowed to anticipate the start? F1? No. WRC? No. Swimming? No Athletics? No MotoGP? No A standing start is about standing still and react to a start signal. It is not about chancing / anticipating the start. Transponders would solve this problem. You do allot of start testing and decide which reaction time should be the limit. This can the be monitored during the start and it would be easy to see if it is a good start or a chance start.1 point

why do i need to ring him i thought his door was always open!,.of course im not a trackman, as of course neither are you, riders arent "trackmen" but they also have a view on track conditions.Glad that you ask if i could do better it means that you do at least accept that "better"is reqd(.ps i do know the sound business logic in not spending any money at present but thats not for the magazine seller to know)1 point
