  1. Lets not gloat. Anyone that puts money into our sport should get support.

  3. The Championship should have NO SAY in Premiership matters going forward. In 2019, if Championship clubs wish to continue on a Thursday they have 2 options:- lose all priority to rider's in the Premiership or step up a division.

  9. Exactly what I was getting at a few posts back! It is supposedly the Top 8 who qualify, but then it's like we have automatic wild cards for those who finish 9th and 10th! I'm not saying I agree or disagree with with the actual numbers of qualifiers, but it defeats the concept if they simply pick 9th and 10th too... Steve

  10. VOR does not help his case when criticising JC for things over which he has no control (i.e. stadium seating) - his general bitterness, coupled with a total inability 'to let it go' tend only to make him a laughing stock amongst the more rational forum members.

  11. Oh your Gavan everyone was talking about you I din't have a clue who you were other than they were saying you were some pervo on twitter, nice to meet you at last

  12. No doubt they would. But that was as true 'then' as it is 'now'. If there was a guy outside the SGP who was good enough to mix it with the SGP top 8, had star quality, real pulling power and just happened to be the right nationality to add to the series .. Then considerations about whether or not be did the qualifiers would miraculously turn to dust and he would be offered a place. And rightly. Just like they did with Emil. But that is not Madsen ... Or any one else. At the moment.

  13. Mr Shovlar would make a wonderful politician, fantastic at ignoring and denying negative issues and peddling propaganda to deflect attention. Definitely a missed vocation

  14. lol comedy gold. Ask Jason Doyle where the hole was im sure he can point it straight out to you. All the Poole fans have spoke about the hole appearing and the remedial work carried out.............................everyone except you shock horror. Where is your detailed match report as well? We got a full blown rider by rider one when Poole beat a very weakened Somerset team.........................oh yes silly me you got beat so the report goes out the window.............

  15. That's the difference between Shovlar's world and the world the rest of us live in.

  16. No Sam didn't design it. Well, he did have input in the first place but then went back home for a wedding (I think) and while he was away David Hemsley went his own way and carried on with the track how he wanted it. Result ~ poor processional racing for years.

  19. Well what a season it has been, so unpredictable. At the beginning of the season there was so much negativity from some of the Kings Lynn fans about their team, while us Poole fans thought we'd got it right! Personally I think Somerset are the team to fear over 2 legs, having said that, all of the Poole team are capable of big scores, just so inconsistent, if they could all find form at the same time we would be unbeatable!

  20. Too right. It seems to have been forgotten just what a daft pick he was last year and just how many people here were arguing against it on good grounds. Only to hear of his 'surprise' pick by the totally independent FIM. No outside considerations were made, of course, it was done entirely on merit.

  21. £20 that went straight to the Ben Fund apparently

  22. Tell me about it ... I have experienced all of this helping a rider over the last few years. He has now given up for all of these reasons, plus others.

  23. When I go on google maps (doesn't have to be google maps) and look down on Leicester speedway track, and look down on Leicester Cycle Speedway at Slater Street, they look the same shape, although one is only 75 yards per lap. Many years ago (1965) I raced on the Slater Street cycle speedway track, and it was absolutely fine for that sport, but the speedway track truly is a poor race track. Going back to David Hemsley, if he has been 3 times World cycle speedway champion and 5 time British champion, then he must really have been a brilliant rider.

  24. Another example of reserves winning meetings is now at Workington, a former no1 is now a reserve & beating riders that he couldn't do before. It is also about team building & Newcastle & Berwick are proving that you don't need no1's but strength in depth to win meetings as their reserves, between them, often score 15+.

  25. Unlike some of the posters, I WAS at the meeting and it was one of the best meetings I have seen in many a day. As to the remarks about the track. I was talking after the meeting to a member of the track staff. He told me that the track was under water first thing in the morning with rain all day on Sunday. He had spent all day ( apart from during the Dog meeting) drying the track in time for racing. No riders got in any trouble with conditions, far from it, that is until the last part of the meeting when a soft patch seemed to appear on bend 3/4. It did not affect most riders, but one or two, including the unfortunate Danyon Hume, were caught out. My guess is that the previous day's rain had softened some parts of the track. To call it disgraceful is far from the truth. I have seen many tracks start their meetings in much worse conditions. The Kent track has been very good on every occasion I have visited this year ( about 6 times). I was a happy contributor to a very big Ben' Fund collection. A very worthy cause..

  26. The injury to Luke Bowen had nothing to do with the track conditions. It was simply a racing incident when James Shanes attempted to pass Luke on the outside. The track last night was in good condition and apart from the unfortunate injury to Danyon Hume it was a thoroughly enjoyable meeting. Best wishes to Danyon for a speedy recovery.

  27. Sure, meetings need to move on fairly quickly, but 60 minutes is far too short. I would say 90 minutes is a more reasonable time. You need some time between races. What you don't need is hanging around while a tractor chugs round for 5 minutes.

  28. No hole, you say. I have seen the video of heat 15 on the speedwaygb website. JD makes a reasonable gate from 2 hits something, straightens up and nearly collects Harris on his way towards the fence. Was it your wallet, Steve?

  29. With Newcastle still to visit in league and cup, might be a good idea to run that as a double header, should be an easy 3 points and next round of the cup. And only 1 travel.

  30. There definitely was a hole! Went to look at it after the meeting.

  31. How the hell did Wolves win that? Should have been a cake walk for Belle Vue. Whoever finishes top will be heading straight to Manchester in the semis first leg.

  32. It has taken a little while finding and translating the relevant rule- but an apology might be necessary for the Tarnow management as Henry is right and heat 15 has to be the 2 top scorers(or a choice of 2 if more than 2 are tied). Obviously it might have been tactically better for Tarnow to be 6 down after 13 rather than 4. I myself wasn`t sure and there are additional rules about reserves use in 14 and 15 etc. https://speedwayekstraliga.pl/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Regulamin-DMP-2018.pdf

  33. I agree re Morris, very lucky to get a second bite of the cherry. I note you are somewhat scathing of the Swindon track. Now I’m not going to defend the Swindon track, I can’t. There was minimal passing, it was decided by 1 & 3 and said as much, however, I have just read your report from this morning’s match v Somerset. It would appear, from your report, that the racing was top notch as I can find absolutely no mention of the track conditions at all within your missive. However, several attendees, Paddy The Rebel said it was ‘very poor’, Lisa Collette ‘dusty’ and poole keith talked about ‘the holes’ in the track. It would therefore seem there’s a hole in that particular report Steve. I have no argument with what you have said re Swindon but at least be equally scathing of your own track if that is the case.

  43. Whoever comes top will pick Belle vue for sure ,and even more some with Bewley missing .Even by speedway fans standards I am amazed to see there is a kl fan who thinks kl should ride Poole in the semis if given the choice. The first thing you must do is get to the final .another example of a fan having zero understanding of the money side of the sport

  44. You are mad if you think anyone is going to believe that you aren't RR. The worrying thing for me is that I genuinely believe you don't think you are him. Bellego banged a few in tonight so didn't think you would show up on here.

  45. The funny thing is, just recently you came up with a proposed side, and the only change made to the top 5 was you replaced the rider who top scored tonight for Swindon with a rider that scored 4 for Leicester.

  46. Just seen heat 15 on Twitter. Doyley hit that hole between turns 1 and 2 again. He hardly just stopped for no reason! All that cash Ford has spent on the track and it's still there. Must be the same people sorting that out that are building Tottenham's new ground!

  47. try and understand it was not a mid morning meeting, not thats it anything to do with you but why after a previous days heavy rain would it have been so dusty and why so many holes?

  48. Very serious injuries, but if there's a consolation he doesn't seem to have Head or Spinal injuries which is always a worry when you hear of such horror crashes.Dan is a superb talent and very level headed hope he makes a good recovery and only returns when 100% which I'm sur he will with the people behind him.

  49. i have to say geoff100 , i am with you on this gesture towards laura and workington speedway . a great idea , so lets all club in and give something back to laura and show some support to her for the last few years of running speedway.... i know i have NOT been on her list for xmas cards . so if fans cant make this gesture , please top up the buckets for dans collection . every little helps . can a leopard change its spots , this one did . .

  50. I agree. Isle of Wight will finish their league meetings in August and have reported healthy crowds during the summer months. They’ve created a challenge type meeting in the first week of September to extend the season and issue a seasonal farewell. This whole concept has been well received by supporters: get the meetings done in good weather in the summer when they still mean something and allowing a nice flow to near weekly meetings plus one unofficial meeting in September which allows a speedway fix without adding meaningless fixtures in. Regular Warriors fans have enjoyed this organisation, so it’s not just about pleasing the holidaying supporters either.
