Looking at the above posts its obvious that multiple meetings with Peterborough are not going to be popular with the fans and you can not blame them it is a ludricous situation befitting the idiots running the sport these days......6 points

Starman i don't think think there are many that hate Poole.Lots of posts are in retaliation to some of Shovlars silly and childish posts.Mark Riss going back to Germany being a prime example.Cheats,he cried at BV as if we were behind Marks decision to end his season.Look what his replacement scored last night to see if we benefitted by this.Gavan rightly pulls him up over some of these daft posts and gets accused of hating Poole! Don't know why he's been banned but i bet there are no anti Poole posts while he's away.4 points

well the diamonds have Workington exactly where we want them over-confident and holding a 10 point lead from the away leg and fooled by our last visit ..... I think us diamonds will have the tie wrapped up by heat 14 .............. hey we beat the league champions by 20 points on their own turf4 points

Disappointing to go out but having watch Ht13 again it’s difficult to stay disappointed for too long. Love the NSS and The Aces.4 points

The nail has largely been hit on the head. Focus on the product and not the names. There si no doubt that a GP star in full flight is a fine sight to behold BUT week in week out i would rather see closely contested races with riders going to the tapes and all having a genuine shout of winning & the potential for some actual overtaking. I care not about who is involved in producing a good race as long as its a good race. The gulf in quality within teams needs to be reduced as does the gaps between teams in leagues. I like many i know want affordable entertainment simple as that.4 points

Just a thought but if mother nature decides to pi*s on our parade literally and we end up not completing the season due to the weather and/or failing to get meetings run, how stupid are the people running our sport going to look after the warmest summer in decades. There decision to alter the fixture calendar could ultimately cost them there jobs (here's hoping).3 points

Do you know the definition at all? It means someone who posts messages to provoke and inflame. I may get argumentative with certain people but that isn’t trolling. The only people who have issues with me are 3 or 4 Poole fans and one other. A much bigger number have issues with Shovlar. That’s because he trolls , puts differing opinions to most to deliberately stoke the fire. If your unsure what a troll is then look at Shovlars comments on the Belle Vue / Mark Riss debate. Even his own Poole fans don’t like what he does. Im argumentative for sure but that’s not trolling Despite all I’ve said I still don’t believe he should have been banned3 points

No you can’t blame them, 99% of us would have done the same. Whether it’s right is another matter and it seems to be instilled in the majority of promotions that success will be put above paying speedway fans the majority of the time3 points

This will be interesting . Just over a month to get three competitions done and dusted and getting dates that suit all concerned . Might need to look out the Santa hats by the time we get to the finals .3 points

You might find that thats a lesser task than trying to sort speedway out3 points

Whether or not we all like it, the League Champions are determined by play-offs - which effectively means a 2 legged knockout contest tagged onto the end of this season. For this reason, it is absurd to also have 2 other competitions which end with exactly the same format, at the same time of year (and often with the same teams). Ideally, if there were sufficient league fixtures there would be no need for the rather contrived Championship Shield. As for the KO Cup, in my view it should have cut-off points enforced earlier in the season, and a Final much earlier in the season, so it is over and done with long before the play-offs start. In a perfect world, of course. Next week, my solution to end conflict between Israel and Palestine.3 points

Can I politely point out that this thread is entitled King's Lynn 2018. It has nothing whatsoever to do with Wolves or Belle Vue so if you wish to "debate" their issues Foxtrot Oscar to those threads. Thank you for your co-operation3 points

Why can't Cook bring that toughness to the GP's?!? He's always backing out of wheel to wheel racing in the GP's, shutting off in the corners but he's proved in that race he's got it in him to push a rider hard. Bring that form to the GP's please Craig3 points

Whoa!!! Not been picky at all. How can you publish a fixture when you haven't qualified? The KOC Semi participation isn't confirmed until both legs are run. Out of sheer common sense, you can't announce a fixture until you have qualified, it's like me saying "When are Glasgow running the Play-Off Final Home leg" IF Workington qualify then the fixtures will be announced, likewise if Newcastle qualify. These could well be agreed in principle already, but not announced. As your club are only involved in the one competition (And current form suggests to me they have an excellent chance of winning it), they simply have to now try and sort out dates between the themselves and Workington. This has been made extremely difficult due to the shambles of cancelling fixtures for the three other clubs involved in all three competitions (Workington, Lakeside, and Peterborough), whereby the KOC and Semi-Finals of the Championship Shield may well have been run if the pre-season agreed League fixtures had been kept to. In addition. there may have been instruction to run certain competitions first so to speak, as there are other clubs, like yourselves, waiting to arrange dates (Scunthorpe and Edinburgh), and perhaps their clout in saying what has to be run first, is the reason the play-offs are not first priority. I could also ask when your play-off semi is being held. October 5th, 6th, or 7th?3 points
-
Not sure what you're whinging for , Glasgow aren't in any of them anyhow Fixtures are arranged around rider availability for one reason... You won't get Glasgow agreeing to the play-offs for weekend in Oct with no Cook , no difference for other teams wanting their 1-7 available for the other competitions either , throw into that other teams self interest and pulling the plug on Friday fixtures for PeterB, Worky and Lakeside so it is what it is3 points

Gavan calling anyone else a troll is too funny!2 points

I've only heard of 1 date which was offered that Panthers declined through rider availability but it would have gone ahead long ago had Scunthorpe's Rob Godfrey not got involved and had the meeting postponed and as for picking Lakeside at Rye House in the play off semi's , well can you blame them for that .2 points
-
Honestly That looks like the only available date for Workington/Glasgow is the 5th/6th October 2018 to run this play off Semi Final? Interesting If Workington get past Newcastle in the Knock Out Cup tomorrow I would assume that the Edinburgh Semi Final would be run over the 29th/30th September weekend and if they get past the Monarchs and the Scorpions in the Shield on Saturday it would leave the last three weekends in October reserved for the three finals Or will we run into November? No surely not! no one would have that much clout! would they? Regards THJ2 points

You have just caused me to have this mental image of a BSPA Management Committee meeting like the Mad Hatters tea party, with Rob Godfrey as the Mad Hatter and Buster Chapman with his tie undone as he always seems to have it, as the doremouse dozing of with a few empty beer glasses in front of him, and Mad Hatter Godfrey yelling “Absurd of course it’s not absurd, let’s scrap the league and make every match a cup final then make Scunthorpe the winner “2 points

Too true!!! I have no problem with Buster doing a extended track grade to assist in Niels recovery, but why not bring the interval forward 2 heats instead of keeping the fans hanging around forever. A little bit of thought could go a long way.....2 points

Totally agree I have been on this forum for about 14 years and the amount of sh*t he has put on here is unbelievable.. Though my biggest problem has always been when he posts something and I have put a genuine reply and ask him for a sensible answer to his post and nearly 100% of the time he ignores the post and spouts more crap to get a bite ..2 points

That's probably because the tie isn't over yet. The BV fans were congratulating their opponents AFTER the tie was completed. Just saying2 points

I don't think you understand the term troll. Whatever Steve has said I may or may not agree with but he's making reference to posts made. Whereas you are following him around the threads to attack him, making no reference to the conversation. That my friend, is trolling. If you don't agree with him that's fine, doesn't give you the right to personally attack the poster.2 points

I've always wanted the juniors to race pre meeting. Unless conditions are dangerous then go out after2 points

I totally agree with cut off dates as during August & September, the League has took priority because it has a cut off date(although this was extended) as almost all teams would. It certainly is an area that needs addressing in 2019 if the same competitions are run.2 points

The new stadium idea has been kicking around for a number of years now, and does make a lot of sense in many ways. Both DP and Borough Park, whilst having history and 'character' are both decrepit and not fit for purpose. Not sure I would like DP as a second home Singy! A single state of the art 6000 capacity stadium with a 3G/4G pitch is the way forward would need community facilities which would ensure that it was used by more than just the football and rugby clubs. A developer however would have to be found to bankroll the project, as Allerdale will not have the funding to do so, with their financial input probably being limited to the sale of the land to the said developer. Developments of this type take years to come to fruition due to the lengthy consultation processes involved, therefore both existing grounds will be around for a while yet with THJ's assessment of 7 years being much nearer the mark. THJ has beaten me to it, as I too don't think there is anything at present to prevent football clubs having a running track around their pitch, however 3G/4G pitches are not permitted, though they have them in Scotland and elsewhere in Europe. As they are developed further things may, and probably will change as clubs, particularly at lower levels strive to make the most out of their grounds to keep themselves viable. Man Utd. played on one last night in Bern, though Jose was moaning about it afterwards - no change there! With regard to the Olympic Stadium, West Ham have installed retractable seating which covers most, but not all of the track area - they have laid artificial grass over the remainder and are presently in a battle to have it claret and not green! As a football supporter too, I am against having tracks around the pitch as it detracts from the atmosphere and match day experience. Therefore I think that speedway needs a stadium of its own and would like to think that Allerdale would look on us kindly and include the development of Northside for speedway rather than a site for 'local travellers' as part of the whole project. As others have already noted it would help our cause no end if we had more people coming through the gate, at least to match those attending the football and rugby in the town. What better time to get down to the speedway than in the next few weeks when a local team has a chance of winning a national title - not something that the football or rugby teams have done for a while2 points

Super Simmo had an unusual start to the first time I ever saw him race live in the Wimbledon V Poole (Spring Gold Cup) match at Wimbledon in 1976 as he bike stopped I'm at the starting gate and thus retired from the race. But all of other memories of him regardless of which team he was riding for are one of his sheer excellence and skill as a rider and a rider I always looked forward to watching even in opposition against my Wimbledon team. His victory on a wet track and with the meeting not finishing until past midnight was superb. It was a shame that he never was an individual World Champion as this accolade would have been right for his skills but Wrld no. 2 isn't so bad. A true legend of the sport and this is a term that I don't use often except for riders who genuinely deserve it.2 points

Workington are actually further on with these fixtures than Lakeside and Peterborough. One leg of the KOC Q/F has already been run between Newcastle and Workington, whereas none of the KOC Q/F legs between Lakeside and Peterborough have been run yet. Edinburgh await the winners of the Workington v Newcastle Q/F and Scunthorpe await the winners of the other Q/F. In the Shield Workington have already raced the away leg of the Semi-Final, with the home leg on Saturday, whereas Lakeside and Peterborough still have both legs to race.2 points

Adrian Smith said in his programme notes that crowds have improved but I suspect that could just be the school holidays affect. The material difference between this year and last is the Monday race night. We must get back to racing on Fridays. You see that at many of the best Polish tracks, you have to wait for the dirt to move out to create the racing lines. I've always thought they should put on a few junior races first so that the dirt will have moved out by the time the meeting proper starts.2 points

I wonder if Stars fans are gonna boo Iversen next time like they do Batchelor. Pulled put of a crucial cup meeting through injury, almost costing the team the meeting but managed to take 5 rides and 9 points in Sweden the next day. Pretty much the reason Batch got sacks that fateful July 2017.2 points

Cast your minds back to the week before...Newc v Scunny, how long again to get a meeting in 6 falls for Newcastle , 2 falls for Scunny...from updates B4L1, B4L3, B4L3,B4L2 need I go on ?? Week before that Newc v Lakeside 4 falls , come on !! Bend 4 is rough at Brough.. I ain't the only one who thinks the way out is the best thing over there believe me I'm just the more vocal one Speaking to riders (not Worky's) after Sundays meeting, they don't mind a technical track just not a S... track . It's my opinion , you all have yours , so as always we will agree to disagree2 points

You are right watching two great meeting's in the last fortnight has showed me the product is still there. What i find strange is that most of the promoters dont listen and try to give the customer what they want.Where i live there is a local shop that was took over 2 years ago if you ask the owner now that you want a pacific product he will get it in for you that is forward thinking customer service.Speedway does not deliver the basics it is falling behind and now even diehard fans who get used to the habit of not going even they are hard to entice back regularly, they pick and choose there meeting's.2 points

I have no faith that things will improve or that the BSPA collectively ( those that vote ) are aware of the priorities that truly matter. Actions and changes that will halt the slide of supporters choosing to walk away AND marketing to begin to attract the new generation of UK speedway followers. The improvement of on-track racing so that excitement is an inherent part of the show ( for show it is ) is a vital part of that. The first play off, Somerset V Poole showed that the product can be worthy of the admission and can provide close racing, passing and thrills all the way through. Get those 15 mins of racing onto a DVD into every household in the country - perhaps via a deal with a newspaper. Yes I know, it costs money and is not seen as cost-effective, but taking no positive action on bringing the essence of speedway to people who have no idea it exists is the key. We have to offer the WOW! factor - and deliver it in the local stadium. Other meetings need to be just as meaningful. Moving towards achieving that needs to be high up on the agenda.2 points

All i will say is there is no need for a good old jolly up in Spain somewhere in England should suffice. They need to get there heads together and try to come up with some answers thinking of us the supporter and the sport as a WHOLE.British speedway is really annoying at times they know what supporters moan about and don't like yet they do nothing about it.Two examples late starts at meetings 7.30 should mean 7.30 also meetings are not getting run slick anough dragging on and on often meaning a late finish.Fixture planning well what more can you say five weeks without a meeting yet getting to October and struggling to fulfil the fixture list.Personally i have little faith things will improve can't see it don't see anough big personalities with vision to pull things around a John Berry figure he would of been mighty handy now.2 points

2 years ago it was announced that the future of speedway was promotion and relegation, last year it was fixed race nights. I suspect this year it will be something else and most of us would probably agree that the league structure needs looking at, but it will be like re-arranging the deckchairs on the Titanic if they don't seriously address issues like; track preparation, slick presentation and better organisation of fixtures. It seems ridiculous to me that after the hottest and driest summer for years that fixtures are being crammed in at the last minute and that some teams didn't complete their fixtures before the deadline.2 points

Eeriest track I have ever been to. Halfway thro the meeting the cloud lowered. Driving out of the car park all we could see in any direction was the colour white as we were literally in the cloud, the ground including the roadway was an off white colour. Was very very spooky. We followed the rear light of the car in front but how the heck the car at the head of the queue managed I dread to think. As I recall the refs box was an old double decker and the medical room/ changing rooms was a shipping container.1 point
