  1. As a mate and sponsor of Ulrich, naturally gutted for him but nothing surprises me as teams happy to chop and change their team at the drop of a hat and Redcar promotion obviously happy to join the growing trend of moving riders on after only a few meetings. What I do think is disappointing in this case is that on Saturday night at Leicester the promotion had every opportunity to be straight with him as obviously they’d already made their minds up to drop him, but instead praised him and said they could see signs of the Ulrich they knew and loved So the guy books all his flights for July, then finds out 2 days later he is axed moments after being given the rider of the night award after delivering the goods with 11 points against arguably the leagues strongest team I think he deserves a little better treatment as someone who has been very loyal to British clubs over the past decade, not one to cry off at the drop of a hat, doesn’t whinge about track conditions and always happy to chat with the fans!

  2. Apparently Interpol are closely scrutinizing the photo, hearing rumors that at least two are on the ten most wanted list ....

  3. I swear Gav must spend his whole day looking up stats to back up the fact that Poole are made stronger or the oppo made weaker by certain situations!

  4. "Suffering with a Thursday" - I believe you suffer also with Monday nights Supports the case for UK speedway teams to operate on the best night for them Belle Vue, like Coventry, was always a Saturday night track It has to happen - it may not work, I know - but it has to be given a chance, and the goodwill has to be there, for a bigger "senior league" operating whatever nights tracks want, need, to run, and if it means some sort of rider control, like we saw years back, and we lose some riders who chase the zloty, etc., then so be it Otherwise, UK speedway will be gone

  5. I know it would be VERY harsh, but would anyone have Ulrich Ostergaard in to replace Jakob? Ostergaard would go in at 5th in the averages and Max would then come down to reserve. In the meantime, regards Jack Smith.... it's a "no" from me.

  6. Reds stated they were going nowhere if the new stadium didn''t go ahead . Was it just coincidence that Town battered on with the relaying of the pitch, new changing rooms and carving up of the speedway track ? i think not. The increase in pitch dimensions was supposedly only to facilitate the Reds which now looks dead in the water, after all why would they want to pay rent to Town ?. Seems like the the reported amounts of money required for Reds to maintain the required safety certification were also widely exaggerated. The amount now being quoted is £15K quite a difference from rumoured six figure sums at the time. There has to be some accountability somewhere for the reckless damage done to the speedway track. I have already contacted the councillors on the executive re this and i implore you to do the same. The relevant e-mail addresses can be found on page 21 of this thread, let them know how you feel !!!

  9. One thing I hate about speedway is it has far to many self righteous fans,,,, some panthers fans cheered when Danny came down,,,, oh but that's okay cos I'm a self righteous tw#t. It happens everywhere by some of all teams fans. As already mentioned by others,, no one really wants to see anyone injured, who ever the rider is,,,,but sometimes,,, just sometimes,,, some fans would be not so upset when it's certain riders

  10. Are you only bothered about winning, then? Do you not attend because you enjoy the sport itself? In years gone by, it never seemed to matter that much, fans of the sport went week in, week out mainly for the love of speedway And there was possibly more attachment to individual riders rather than the teams, highlighted when the big individual meetings came around Trips down to that London for World Final, Internationale, etc were the big occasions Of course, you had to attend to see the sport, as it wasn't all over the tv and other screens then

  14. All logic may point to Howarth scoring more than 4 , but you just don't know . He could fall in a race , he could have bike gremlins , he could go through the tapes , anything can happen . We had an alleged track expert as a guest at Redcar tonight , and he scored 4 . You just don't know what you're going to get with guests . So to start talking about rerunning the meeting is nonsense .

  16. Hey guys, there is a new feature film being release this month in the cinema that heavily features speedway. In the video below, Eagles TV caught up with the star, director and hero of the ADVENTURE BOYZ movie Howard J Ford, along with members of the cast whilst at Arlington Stadium during the Eastbourne 'Eagles' vs Leicester 'Lions' meeting on 30/06/2019. Partly filmed at Arlington stadium in 2018 including on track racing action from the Eagles treble winning team, ADVENTURE BOYZ is set for release on the 20th July at the Halisham Pavilion. Inspired by parent’s observations on how much time kids, and adults alike, spend on their devices, ADVENTURE BOYZ aims not only to entertain the whole family, but to remind children about the exhilaration and joy of discovering and experiencing the outside world. Starring Howard J Ford and his own children, Rory and Felix, and surrounded with an amazing cast, from Harry Potter to World War Z, plus the star of Never Let Go, Adventure Boyz has an outrageous plot with a profound scope for the 'boyz' to learn from real life experiences. The positive messages contained in the film are already garnering a lot of support and interest, and has enjoyed a fantastic reception at Cannes. Private Film Industry screenings are planned during the coming weeks in London and it is scheduled for local screenings in Sussex during the School Holiday period. The full trailer for the movie can be viewed by visiting : http://www.adventure-boyz.com

  20. Don't follow Tungate on Twitter and was responding to "That's a total lie" about Ipswich fans cheering. Only having seen Kevin Long present meetings from the centre of the track, and I think he does a decent job, I don't believe for one minute he would behave in the manner described by Tungate. I see on another post Panthers fans have been accused of cheering when Danny King came down, and that's bang out of order too. Doesn't matter which rider it is or which team he rides for if they hit the floor they are due a certain amount of respect. Rest assured had that been a Panthers fan cheering Danny's crash he/she/it would have been told too.

  23. Yes, 9-00 I think after a 7-00 start on a Saturday night. Meetings usually ran like clockwork. You could tell what time it was by looking to see which race was on!

  24. Yep, my bad in this case It would be entertaining, only problem is Gav likely will get himself too wound up and get banned. When he stays calm he can make very reasoned posts.. and certain Poole fans don't like that reasoning :).

  26. Well Rohan did venture towards us on the back straight , very kind of him to come close to the fence as its very easy to get muddled up with what people are saying over the noise of the bikes and speakers I think he was raising his middle finger at us which I took that he was pointing at our wonderful noisy selections of horns and wondered where he might be able to obtain one.

  27. Looking on the bright side..... They've signed a new number one and found an adequate replacement for a rider with a serious injury.

  28. Here he is. Ready for an argument as normal. Stato is light hearted banter based on the former cult bbc2 show fantasy football. Absolutely no malice in my comment to Gav so get a grip.

  29. But it was apparently agreed during the break in action with all parties whatever the score at 10.15. No one would know what the score would be at 10.15 or who would be in front??

  30. Sam was definitely in the team in 2012. I presented him with a cheque from the Riders Equipment Fund and have a photo to prove it. Hope its a decent crowd as I'm hearing there will be a collection for Richie.

  31. Sam was another rider who slowly improved over the years. Just that one step off of being world class imo

  33. Whatever the cost you can't turn down the chance to sign a rider like Eric Riss. Until last night Ulrich was riding at a 4.5 level (much as he had at Birmingham) but really feel for him as an extended stay at the MPA would have benefited both him and the club. Kasper is a decent replacement for the injured Tom Bacon. If the official line that Jack asked to be replaced then changed his mind is correct then I'm sorry to see him go as he has done more than was asked of him at home. As for his replacement I think the signing of Riss meant basically putting the names of all unattached 2 pointers in a hat and drawing a name out. Wish Tom well.

  39. Think back to the Bradley Wiggins kerfuffle which was effectively over an asthma inhaler. In cycling, football and rugby (three sports i have some knowledge of) use of banned drugs is allowed with the use of a medical exemption certificate but it is up to the athletes to ensure that they are covered in the event of a drugs test. The riders should have been given a list of substances which could cause them to return suspicious test results. If they didn't then that is something the authorities need to tighten up. If they were then that is something the riders need to tighten up on.

  40. Delays of the magnitude we've seen recently are unacceptable, and cost cutting in this area should not be allowed, I understand that at Poole a rider who it turned out had serious ankle damage was pushed on a trolley through the local streets to hospital. Imagine the conversation amongst the residents... Whats happening there ? reply Oh it's some speedway guy had a crash at the stadium but they can't afford an ambulance.. The basic requirements just aren't acceptable and improvements in the medical cover need to be made urgently .
    2 points
  41. I hardly think following testing protocols is picking on someone - better to be safe than sorry if anything is "inconclusive", rather than letting someone carry on and possibly cause harm to others. If they took a slapdash approach and a rider got injured, everyone would be having kittens. Hope he can put it behind him now anyway.

  44. Who is saying anyone is to blame? The procedures were followed correctly. Howarth didn't fail a drugs test. It's all very simple other than some trying to make a mountain over a mole hill.
