Just got back home and I have to congratulate BOTH teams, I've seen some good meeting in the many years going to Brough Park, but tonight probably surpassed the lot.... It basically had everything, I can honestly say if Edinburgh had pulled it off, I'd still have left the stadium feeling I'd been truly entertained,. Don't want to single any rider out in particular, but young josh Pickering take a bow son, absolutely brilliant overtakes and your 15 yard race was worth admission money itself, and a special mention to the track staff for preparing a brilliant racetrack which gave us all an excellent night of entertainment....

Oh no, you can blame Poole for a lot of things but we are not taking the blame for that one!!

Well after a few days of thinking here is my thoughts on Redcar v Scunthorpe On my first visit to the Bears home I was impressed with the Facilties and the race track . On the team strengths for the night that was primarily the fault of the Redcar promoters and they came out and gave the version of the facts and admitted a short term loss with a long term gain with regards the Erik Riss signing . The racing was very good on a well prepared track and for Redcar MPT ,Wrighty and Greaves were outstanding with Jake Allen and Ben Barker the top men for the Scorpions.When Riss signed I was more shocked with the 2 pt rider Tom Woolley to accompany him surely there is better options out there for the Bears. It was always going to be a tough ask , for the Bears to give Scunny a scare but they did and ran out of riders in the end especially after the woeful effort at Newcastle the Sunday before As a speedway fan Redcar didn’t need to do a £2 reduction on admission so as a speedway fan I put the £2 reduction into the raffle Now for the the negatives The track announcer getting cheap shots in about his beloved Newcastle Diamond the week On the terraces there was a lot of banter between the fans which was good hearted until Redcar ran out of steam then it become threatening and abusive . I was visiting with approx 12 Scunny fans including my 80 yr old father who took me to Hull Vikings as a 5 yr old many years ago and got me interested in Speedway Its the first track I’ve visited we’re drinking is to excess As we left the terraces one yob shouted “HOPE YOU DIE ON THE WAY HOME IN A CAR CRASH “ This was the final straw as I will not put into the Coffers of the Redcar Promotion when there is idiots like that Yes I’m Scunny fan but its not win at all costs and go to watch good close racing with riders putting there lives at risk for our entertainment, usually in a good atmosphere . So unfortunately I won’t be visiting this track again and putting money into there promotion From One very disgruntled speedway fan

Bang on. As much as Shovlar winds people up and is the poster everyone loves to hate , Gavan is non stop on the Poole thread making a fool of himself , getting worked up and trying to wind up the Poole fans. He is more of a troll than anyone on this forum. So its amusing to see him so quiet after last weeks result . I agree that the Ippo fans are a decent bunch on here apart from Gavan , whether he is a real fan or not remains to be seen.

Just wondering if I could get your thoughts on a project I'm working on for my MA radio degree, I'm currently in the research phase of producing an audio documentary series about speedway, The idea is to create 15-minute episodes covering different topics (Eg. History, current landscape in Britain, a team profile (Probably Belle Vue.. etc) It would be great to know what you all think of this idea, what direction would be appealing to you and whether you feel there is an audience for this on a mainstream level?

Josh Pickering take a bow, heat 15 match over and still rides like that Its great going into heat 14 knowing you have Wethers and Clegg going out to bring it home. Bring on Redcar (Hopefully!)

ahh , funny that i have just been reading the so called legal letter from Mr whitehead . with me being a well known supporter of the comets in the area i have good friends around me . Mr Whitehead and i had a wee talk and he said i was okay to enter the stadium to watch the meeting . this decision came BEFORE i wrote the apology on the BSF . being a popular fan , i had the backing of at least 20/25 fans who said they would not return if i was banned ! Mr Whitehead then told me to come and see him the following week to have a talk . now Steve being in the know , should have known there was NO meeting the following week ! (again) as i was walking to gain entry to the stadium . one of Mr Whiteheads helpers gave me abuse and said he was going to rip my f...ing head off . i turned away and started to walk . then i felt something wet on my clothes . i turned around and a a guy who i later found out was T.H.J. had squirted water over me . he continued to give verbal abuse . many fans heard his outburst . luckily it was only drinking water , but could have been something worse like wee , acid or even McDonalds milk shake ! i will add that during the conversation with Mr Whitehead he kept using the word HONESTLY on a regular basis . something T.H.J. does on a regular bases in his posting , tho claiming NOT to be Steve W . i was glad to be allowed back and also my friends did not have to lose their fix of speedway . Groveling no . common sence , yes . BTW . i dont know where you got careful consideration from in your reply . speedway needs people through the gate . fans have a forum that they use and its free voice for all . good or bad . its a pity some promoters and high flying people dont read it on a regular bases and wake up and smell the coffee .. anyone that would like a copy of Mr Whiteheads legal letter is welcome , contact via pm for more details . worth every penny for the cost of an envelope and a stamp ! cheers J

To Falcon 50, No doubt you were there and have clear evidence of who said what? I can inform you that one Lady in front and two Lady's close by up in the stand plus many others around this group of speedway fans would tell you that at no time did these fans make any foul language or sexiest remarks ( yes myself plus quite a few others raised are voices about the state of the track ) some one said he heard plus another I hear. These accusations now are on the point of defamation, these accusations are unfounded and could have so easily been cleared up on the night. If Mark or some one else from the promotion would of asked the supports there and then this would have been cleared up and put to bed! but instead a few launched an intensified attack on a group of very loyal speedway supports. There have been so many inaccuracies and false accusations made . At Stoke on Sat/I wished Mat and the team all the very best when they were on there track walk ,unfortunately it was not a good for the Gladiators . I feel very strongly about how these accusation's have been made over forums with out any one contacting any of the accused and supporters who were there at the time. I hold no malaise towards Mark and the Plymouth Gladiators and wish them all the very best for the rest of the season and the future. But please in the future get the truth and correct facts first before acting on them.

There are some great kids coming thru. Both Thompson twins, Leon Flint, Kemp, the Mcgurks, Jordan Palin to name a few. Think only Flint is 16. So yes a huge step up for them in next year or 2. IF it does go to one big league next year I hope they keep minimum one youngster at reserve for all teams. For their progression I’d like to see number 7s in the top flight all youngsters. And heat 8 protected as well, that way they get 2 races with their opposite number. Bring back the 2 point minimum average for top flight and include the kids at 7. We can all see how the Poles push their next generation. Guaranteed to stay at reserve as well. The only way clubs will invest in youth. The better clubs will cream the best kids but you only have to look at the best Polish teams who have 2 power packed reserves. The richest clubs will pay for the best kids, which is fine in my books If it means we put in a structure for the future. And not simply for a year quick fix.

Nice try and innovative but I prefer ONE League - Home and Away with 14-16 Teams. I'd only allow doubling up NL to OBL and insist No 7 was British NL and no 6 had to have ridden NL in past 3 seasons. That way you'd have just enough for 14 x 7 man teams (I don't like 6 man teams just my preference for 7). Would have a form of Rider Control to Grade defined "Heat Leaders / Second Strings" to make sure equality and once teams are all "staffed" would determine a points limit going forwards. Would look a minimising movement by allocating currently doubling up PL / CL equally between OBL sides staying at one of their current teams where possible. Would give riders choice of their current PL or CL Team or "going to the rider pool" Would set maximum pay rates at £100 a point for Heat Leaders / £80 a point for second strings / £60 a point for reserves and would have them paid on that basis all season of -1-2-3 in averages then 4-5 in averages then 6-7 in averages. Would allow Clubs to set a "match guarantee" of maximum of 10 point score for HL / 7 point score for SS / 4 point score for RS if they wished. This would ensure more equal Teams and rationalise pay rates and would also have a transfer window (out side of permissible injuries) of "June" for any transfers and insist that any rider out for 28 days or less had to be covered by RR not a transfer.

And riding at Leicester today by the way didn't have appendix op was riding well last night

Great to see Laguta back he actually looks more focused now than ever, i hope he qualifies for the GP series in 2020 .For me at his best he is a top eight rider and he would add more quality to the series.

KWOCZALA, Stefan Born: June 15, 1934, Czestochowa, Poland. The second Pole to join Leicester under a scheme where the Polish authorities allowed riders to race in Britain for a year to gain experience of the smaller tracks, Stefan had the difficult job of replacing the hugely popular Marian Kaiser at Blackbird Road. He was a member of the Wlokniarz club in his home city and had won the Polish Championship in 1959, joining the ‘Hunters’ the following spring. He was a robust and sometimes wild rider who upset some opponents with his hard charging tactics but proved to be a popular member of the side with the fans at his home track. He not only filled the spot left by Kaiser admirably, he actually outscored his fellow countryman with a series of fantastic displays which saw him among the top 20 riders in the league. His official debut came at Ipswich in a National Trophy match in May and Stefan showed what was to come by scoring twelve, paid 13, from six rides. Although he was never to score a maximum for the ‘Hunters’, Stefan was in double figures in over half of his league and cup matches and ended the season with a superb average of 8.22 points per match to finish as second heat leader behind Ken McKinlay. He also worked his way through the qualifying rounds of the World Championship to reach the Wembley final, joining his compatriots Kaiser and Henryk Zyto in the event. Stefan proved to be the best of his countrymen that night, scoring eight points to finish the evening in a creditable seventh place, the best effort yet by a Pole in the competition. As with the rest of the Polish riders of the time, he was only allowed one season of racing in Britain and returned to ride in his domestic league in 1961. Sadly, he suffered serious head injuries in a track crash in May of that year and, although he made a recovery, the injury effectively spelled the end of his career. I think Gavan's only connection to speedway is his Uncle chucking a few quid into the Hackney pits at Mark Loram, (I'm sure he's mentioned it once or twice!) I'd say when Mark retired he developed a weird obsession with Poole speedway.

Nice of you to praise the track when usually it is slagged off by the away supporters. Got to agree it was a great meeting and josh Pickering is box office. Balls of steel the way he rides the out side. I think from an Edinburgh supporters view the poor show from Wells and Palovaara must be disappointing.

Just got home from a lovely trip. I have to say that the NSS is a fabulous race track. Belle Vue fans, you are so so lucky to have a race strip like that to visit every week.

There was always a little hope but that disappeared fast. Congrats Newcastle a very strong team at home and capable of mounting a decent shot at a play off spot. Too many riders not riding to (or near) their potential. Concentrate on home form now. Any points picked up away a bonus but focus must surely be to keep the home fans entertained. Give Coles and Ruddick (when returns) the rest of the season with a look at next year.

Good result good meeting and some good racing. All the team rode well today and glad to see drew amongst the points. Today should have give him some confidence back. Well done to all the riders for making an entertaining meeting .

He’s not been the same since the injury

I have just seen the heat two of Somerset v Birmingham on you tube and Danyon does look a more controlled rider.He was unlucky in that heat he needs to stick at it and don't get into the zone of over riding the points will come.I also think Shanes should be at number six he should have the harder rides he has more exsperience at this level.

Tangled with Josh Bates and Ryan Douglas at Berwick last night, must make him doubtful for tomorrow night.

Having already lost Jye Etheridge to injury Berwick were dealt a further blow when Aaron Summers had to withdraw today feeling the affects of the Ht10 crash from last night. Giving those facts its to Berwick`s credit that they at least put up the fight they did going down 54-36 so well done to the remaining five riders.

Newman is finished , his best years are behind him now sadly . He was superb for Poole in those years at reserve though.

Mr Barrie announced his retirement about three seasons ago, maybe he thinks he's the Rolling Stones as they seem to have been on their farewell tour for about 25years.
