Leicester in Shield Final look sure to be in Play Offs need rider whose average Proctor best fits. "Robbing Peter to pay Paul" or "robbing one Bates to pay another Bates". IF Proctor ends up at Leicester it will bring Sport in to further disrepute and ridicule. No doubt one for the Management Committee to look in to Oh hang on....."Bates and Bates and Godfrey

All this chopping and changing of team building averages is doing the sport no favours. As stated above the 42.5 number is king and what is needed to balance out sides otherwise it creates falsely high averages and then after one season riders get frozen out as a new crop of non ready riders take their places, no disrespect to any but 50% of the 2 pointers in the Champs are there because of their average and not ability.

Still got the dodgy fuel in the tanks to help some riders improve their score & get Cookie to lessen his to a more attractive average for next year.(some people just cannot see it but it might sow the seeds of doubt )

In theory yes they can, as all team declarations are subject to approval as being ‘in the best interests of the sport’.....

Berwick's usual line-up is Summers, Etheridge, Doolan, Gappmaier, Busk Jakobsen, Garcia & Flint. Redcar will be bringing Riss, Andersen, Palm Toft, Stewart, Wright, Woolley & Greaves -- racing order unconfirmed. Both sides at full strength -- Redcar with their new British champ, plus a new No 1, Erik Riss, who is a double World (long-track) Champion. Bandits remain unbeaten at home in Championship action for over a year, but the recently-revised Bears could be their stiffest test so far this season. If Charles Wright brings the same form he displayed at Belle Vue, Shielfield spectators are in for a treat. Plus, with another tasty wee treat of the NJL mini-match following the main event, Saturday's spectators will be able to enjoy 21 meaningful races for their money. Tell the town -- the new British Champion is coming to Berwick on Saturday night!

Finals now are contested without a track grade in the GP's, as those who run it finally realised that most finals when given a track grade before they are ran, became a gate and go non event on a smooth one inside line track.. And we hear time and time again on commentary that "racing will improve" as a dirt line appears... Therefore, as you suggest, make that dirt line appear from heat one..

I'm glad he's not injured, but I cant help thinking I wished that he'd be replaced....? His performances for us have been woeful and I cant see any improvement from one meeting to the next. I'd much rather have Danyon/Nathan in the team, even if only for their future progress!?

S4s you have made a very good point. I've not taken much notice of number 8's as they never seem to be included /declared in team line ups these days. But thinking ahead and covering the possible scenarios it would have been good to have made the arrangements you suggested. I would just like reserves to be replaced by guests according to average as with others in the team. But then I'm from a simpler time speedway in the 70's.

One club is up for sale, the other isn't. I think there's an obvious answer to that question.

Whilst im certainly not saying that any injuries sustained are anyone's fault as ive not seen the incidents it does re-raise the question should 15 year olds be in league racing? The youth and enthusiasm is clearly evident along with some ability but is it a matter of time until there are issues? Its not acceptable (just entertaining) when there is a bit of handbags after a race or after a rider is brought down by a reckless move but if one of the riders is 15 it opens up a whole bag of trouble that it shouldn't as all riders on track should be equally accountable for their actions. The child protection laws are getting tighter and tighter, i assume the Thompsons and others all change separately to the main team or have appropriate adults present.

Don't think proctor will be without a club for long at all. Obviously dropped to replace Bates at Leicester.

hardly a major promotion,one sat only and for just 2hrs,no details of what the discount is,just lazy promoting,need to target the kids in the area and get them to bring parents (or at least one) easiest to target when theyre at school so too late this yr,why do poole never have decent kids deals??

Alfie is a very detirmined rider with little ability to turn a speedway bike on anything other than large tracks,, he gates well but if he gets inside another rider there are to many occasions were he makes uncontrolled contact and as such could be considered by some as dangerous ,potentially injuring another rider or indeed himself...We will see in the long run if that happens or he eventually becomes more controlled and a decent rider.....

Glasgow and negativity seem to be the order of the day especially with some new posters, it is hilarious at how many spout there pish on here. Thankfully the Scunny fans seem pretty fair minded and have congratulated us on the win.

It might have been a corker of a meeting to what you normally see at Sheffield but for me, irrespective of the result, we threw it away, gifting points to the Glasgow lads in the way we rode the track. The track prep was not normal because of the weather we had & what was predicted pre meeting but it caught us out. What was up with Danny? Thoughts on tomorrow? That was a mare for him but being in the spotlight, giving interviews to put in to print has, maybe, got to him a bit. We needed to stop their lower order getting points but, for some reason, they were getting them. The inside line had the grip, possibly due to the amount of standing water that got in to the track before the water was removed yesterday. We also heard rumours of possible fuel tampering with probable additives used to get off the gate on a slick track. Whether a complaint has been put in with checks made & retrospective action taken later I am unsure but it did seem evident half way through the meeting when the Tigers got on top. Gating almost 3 metres in front by the 1st bend was evident mid meeting in which the track had not changed or been graded.

Unlike the team that took that away from him of course
