  1. Heard the Diamonds advert on Metro Radio this morning, and it was very good, to the point, all the info and likely I would say to make the possibility of people coming to our 90th anniversary meeting on the 29th real. Metro Radio are our Media partner, and they approached us given what was going on when Rob came in to save the speedway. The radio station is the biggest commercial station in the North East, so it's great to be partnered with them and good for the sport in the area.

  3. The point is they will better last seasons figures because they had good reasons why they rode badly last year. Hans had a couple of very bad crashes, Harris had a home track that clearly he didn't enjoy,Iversen only did a few meetings for Ipswich at the end of the season and who wouldn't want Scott Nicholls at reserve! It takes some believing how low their averages are now and they will have Hans and Harris as second strings, if they all got back to 2018 levels which in my opinion is very possible then making the play offs will not be a problem.

  4. Peterborough customers have never turned up great numbers for a trier in a losing team. They only turn up for a team getting results and this at least has the chance of doing that. It is yesterday's team but British Speedway is yesterday's sport and it being important and attracting the world's best is yesterday's news.

  5. regarding this common knowledge about Jason coming over because of seth, yes it was common knowledge but what is also FACT as geoffs likes to tell people is that Jason himself said that seth is not coming over but is staying in Australia as he had 1 more year left in school obviously at the time of the interview he was not aloowed to say that seth is riding in the championship as seths team hadn't announced it yet so Geoff please shut up for once

  6. No, not so much last year due to a new promoter who's now gone, plus I have been very ill for most of it. Getting back to it now and back playing squash, and looking forward the new season under Rob. It was nice to see my Gems win the NJL league and of course the rapid progress that Archie and Danny are making on their 500's and of course see Josh making such a great start in the NL.

  10. Honestly I think you will find that JC fella was around long before the mid 60's!!! Rode a "Jewa Bike" on a Hittite engine with Cow Horn Handlebars and made a good fist of it and was a canny bloke by all accounts but got crucified off the fans in the end. Although with Crump and Pedersen making comebacks who knows? come "the end of days" we may see him again with a bit of luck. Like Lazarus (Crump) or the Prodigal Son (Pedersen) there is always an argument; and a space; for a good one coming back and being the true "Son of God" (not that pretend one from Cumbria who rode for Glasgow) and because it was that JC fella's Dad who said "thou shalt not have any strange gods before me.” the fans would need to be careful but it wouldn't be long before he was idolised and if he doubled his average (and I am sure he would do that) he could be a steal as three point average rider and what team wouldn't take a chance on him... Only thing is would he get a work permit after Brexit? Regards THJ

  13. Taken from "Homes of British Speedway" Darvel was based at Roundshaw. Nr Auchinleck, Ayrshire. "This was a private training track constructed by Alastair Craig on the site of an old coal mine, the main shaft of which was on the centre green....while continuing to use Darvel for training Ronnie Craig, along with his brother Alastair, formed a team called Darvel Rockets, which entered the Scottish Junior League, riding their home matches at Glasgow's Blantyre Sports Stadium ( 1980 - 81) and Craighead Park (1982 - 84)"

  14. Is it not the case that a lot of young British riders do not get a chance because of the senior British riders moaning that they can’t make the sport pay unless the ride in both leagues. Some would ride in all 3 if they were allowed.

  17. Certainly an odd bod. 2 year hiatus since 2017 the pops back up with plenty of bells teets and other manner of unpleasantness's. Just pop on ignore and will finally wither away although it hasn't worked for the Berwick wally yet.

  18. Unfortunately I think that is pretty accurate and I fear for the few remaining stand alone clubs in the NL like the IOW, although hope I'm wrong.

  20. Not sure why it’s going to be a problem getting a ticket- just like any other foreign GP, bit of hassle but you can sort it out in the end. As for a visa again pretty straightforward but it might involve a trip to London to the Russian embassy. Change planes at Moscow for Samara int airport- big adventure i would suggest.

  21. Is there a reason why people think those making the decisions would be looking to deliberately put a spanner in the works of development leagues? Or just cynicism for the sake of it? Genuinely curious

  22. I think there are valid reasons they will improve ie a better home track for Bomber, Hans being injury and personal problem free, Scott being at reserve. They could all put a point on if things go their way.

  23. Totally agree I don’t get this type of team at all. Totally uninspiring filled with riders who are way past their best and falling. I’d much prefer to have a young up and coming rider in my team like Anders Rowe or Drew Kemp. Peterborough’s reserves will average more than both of those and for some that’s all that matters, but I’d personally prefer a young local lad making his way up the ladder than one who is looking to top up his pension fund for one more year.

  24. Pretty sure 3/4 of the now Newcastle riders asked for a team spot there when they announced they were running a nl team but they never got back to them

  25. The rules don’t let riders do the NL and NT for separate teams though. That’s why Flint has left Newcastle.

  26. It does have the feeling of building a team bu chucking a few riders in then attempting to plug the gaps rather than a thought out approach? I think Verge is based on IOW now so makes the travelling impractical, Harris was never keen on the journeys to Kent so cannot see his crew heading North. Shame really as the venture could struggle unless one of the Newcastle riders wants a few extra rides or miles on their van.

  27. Can they recover from bumps and bruises may be the bigger question. It does have a dad army feel to it for sure and there's a few risks in there but it's better than what we started with last season

  28. I have no problem with this team. Possibly average age may be a concern , but in most cases they are capable of considerable improvement on last season.

  29. Nicholls 41 Andersen 39 Ostergarrd 38 Iversen 37 Harris 37 Some experience that! That has to be a concern for me. People saying some of these are on bargain averages, but at this stage of their careers they’re going to be very inconsistent. Not sure about this team TBH. Wouldn’t be surprised if it made the play offs or had a stinker of a season. I’m on the fence.

  35. Whilst I'm pleased for Ronnie, I find it very sad that he had to raise money in this way. He risked his life to earn that medal, how many of us would have been brave enough to tackle a gunman who turned out to be a nutter? The gunman had already shown he wasn't afraid to use the gun, and yet Ronnie waded in with nothing but his fists to stop him. He will always have the greatest respect from me for that action.

  36. Well done Was it hidden within season ticket application info? It is there now but from memory (& I'm happy to be corrected) there was no 2020 admission details page when the season ticket application first came out or any mention of the parking concession removal on the season ticket application form which is where the link went direct to first off. In fact, even now, there is still no reason to click the "Disabled Parking (Inside the Showground) link because the facility hasn't changed for at least 15 years so why would it now? Usually it creates a stink if the EoES removes the concession and disabled fans wouldn't expect their club to do it. If someone with a BB drove in during 2019 and bought an early season ticket expecting the same in 2020 then they'll be in for a shock. I can't even remember how I stumbled across the BB concession removal. Just by chance when surfing the club site I think.

  39. Newcastle should not get a vote for three years . The Stoke promoter was in the NL , that won't count for Championship issues but then who knows what they will allow these days as your not supposed to be a promoter at more than one track , but that one got overlooked if your on the committee! . Newcastle are the only Sunday track in the division.
