The big (& grossly unfair)anomaly regarding riders being paid/not paid is that riders would be in an immediate breach of contract should they refuse to ride because of not being paid for previous work (meetings) done with the consequence of not being allowed to ride elsewhere in UK. Promoters however have no reciprocal action taken against them for not paying their workers/contractors “on time” Whilst clearly this set of circumstances is so that “The show must go on” (which wouldn’t happen if riders withhold their services) it seems appropriate that something along the lines of rules being set where riders must be paid no later than (say) 10 days past the due date and if that payment is not made then the BSPA makes the payment from the Bond fund. The delinquent promotion then has to reimburse the fund within a set period time with interest or face further sanctions. Frankly the only promotions who would be unable to live with this type of agreement are those who are in reality unviable in the first place and need to face the consequences sooner rather than later so the sport has a realistic financial & moral operating base to work within.7 points

So Poole let Danyon move on, being announced today in the Glasgow lineup. I thought he did well for us last year and I would have loved to have seen him back. Good luck in your career Danyon.6 points

Radio Norfolk reporting this morning that @AlexBrady spoke to 200 riders about being in the 2022 side! Hope he's got plenty of free minutes on his mobile6 points

That's a pretty crappy comment, don't you think? 1) The rules are posted at the top of the page. 2) The rules have NEVER changed. The site was only ever designed to represent solos. Hence no trace of sidecar fatalities. 3) It's MY site, and I make the rules. If you want to start one that includes people you wish, please feel free.5 points

Thank you for your very kind comments about our meetings. The programme wasn't as planned initially, but in the end we put on an evenings entertainment and our spectator numbers were up despite several logistical problems that affected support from the mainland. I am glad that you thought they weren't rubbish.4 points

The riders concerned will probably benefit riding on a well prepared consistent track at home which will improve their confidence and help their away form aswell, well done Glasgow.3 points

Basso to Glasgow next. If they can’t beat us, they try to buy the Poole team to try and replicate.3 points

Be great for Danyon and his dad he has a young son that lives 30 mins from Glasgow and came up most weekends to see him3 points

I am going to take a guess that Sweden will be in a very poor place come 2023 that some riders may opt for the UK depending on the state of British Speedway of course.3 points

I hope the NDL has a very strong year, with riders who are of the right ability. The BSPL has created an issue by weakening the league this season - not entirely sure how they rectify that for next season. With regards to IOW - did you go to any of the meetings? I did, and they were far from being 'a bit rubbish' as you suggest.3 points

The unfortunate thing about Northside is it is an open site on a dune area under the many windmills. The previous owners tried to enclose it, but the damage just continued being caused by gypsies in caravans alongside the track. They were then cleared off that site, with council help, hence the enthusiasm to turn the site into something that could be developed into a Redcar type site. Even with an expensive spiked metal fence surrounding the whole site, which would not be cost effective, it would not solve the problem as it would probably just provide the gypsies with a new supply of metal which would be stolen on a regular basis. Perhaps a local councillor could help with the establishment of a sport in Workington, as it was thought that with the cockups by the council, and the other stadium owners in the Town, regarding the other stadia, they appeared to have thought that by helping Northside now it would make up for their incompetence previously. Let's hope the council stand by that enthusiasm, and stand up to the thugs who could deprive the Town with a sport facility that they currently lack.2 points

And Berwick when he got dialled on after his 1st ride & I can't remember if he was guesting for Glasgow that night or Berwick but he was good2 points

Surely you buy a season ticket because you want to go to speedway, surely it doesn't depend on who's riding? Do you think that we won't have a competitive team?2 points

i was told that Hancock and Zager were going to be missing for this meeting and nothing was said all day by either promotion so assumed my source was wrong. So when i turned up at Foxhall to find out they werent in the pits, i got back in my car and drove home...2 points

I know first hand that my friends that visited, thorough enjoyed themselves, and openly said that a straight 15-heats of speedway were very much second best to what was served up on the Isle of Wight.2 points

That reminds me of the time Reading rocked up with a couple of riders missing, we had Rory as a guest, he took off his Witches bib, jumped over to the other side of the pits and put on a Reading bib, and both clubs then ran R/R to make it a bit of a contest2 points

This is pro speedway,,, anything could happen,,, he can probably be our number 8 and guest for the opposition in the same meeting,,, possibly even see himself racing himself in heats 2 and 8,,, Obviously it could get a little confusing if he knocks himself off,, and who gets excluded2 points

I think IOW are incredibly happy away from the mafia and the way they were treated/ hounded i would be staggered and disappointed if they were to consider a return. 5 from last year to return, Iwade replacing Kent and maybe Oxford if they are very ambitious/ have been coaxed into it. Id love there to be a surprise entry but 7 for 2022 with hopefully Eastbourne and Worky to join 2023 would be a decent uptake (providing all current clubs make it that far)2 points

With 5 of the 6 teams basically confirmed you can figure out the majority of the Belle Vue side with the remaining riders. Predict the finishing order of the regular league season followed by your Grand Final and 2022 Champions. 1. Sheffield (Solid 1-7 on paper but a couple of question marks over Cook and Nielsen) 2. Peterborough (Solid 1-7 but a question mark over Ully, Basso is being underrated because he's not a well known name to UK fans) 3. Belle Vue (With the 5 we know Fricke, Kurtz, Wright, Allen & Brennan it already looks a better septet than the 3 teams below them) 4. Ipswich (Doyle & King should see Ipswich to enough home wins to get the final play-off spot imo) 5. Wolverhampton (I don't like the reserve pairing at all and I feel like too much pressure is being put on young Kemp's shoulders) 6. King's Lynn (Strong reserve all season but the 1-5 is full of question marks other than Lawson) Grand Final barring a horrific injury that wrecks the 1-7 - Sheffield Tigers vs. Peterborough Panthers Champions - 50/50 coin flip imo but I'll go with the biased pick in Peterborough Panthers1 point

Every other FTR in the league already named so think it’s fair to say we’ll be re-signing Tom Brennan so why not announce that as well??? Do they think they r keeping us in suspense by holding his name back?!???!1 point

Makes sense! I have a Xmas version of the hat he likes. Just needs to write Peterborough in black on one side and Glasgow in white on the other side! lol.1 point

We had similar issues a few years back when they broke in & took bikes & quads. The police were called & even though they were riding around on these bikes in the near vicinity & the club said "those are our bikes", the police could still not do a thing. There was, also, another time the "scum" were in the area & over 20 manhole covers were removed from the industrial site nearby & probably sold for scrap.1 point

Well you did get a cryptic warning on Friday and the trouble has reared its head Its been a site for many a year but now the council want to do something with it they got shipped out and they don't like it Yep and a particularly nasty bunch this lot apparently There had been an exclusion order placed on the site with Red boundary lines set up and unfortunately the council? police? (someone?) failed to renew this exclusion order and it run out (Friday I believe)… so they are back... Good idea but cost starts to be an issue Yep I will second that... As it happens this lot are a nasty bunch so I have been told (particularly nasty) and although I have seen nothing in the local press yet they apparently mugged someone at knife point at a cash machine last week I have offered as it happens.. but it was politely declined (at present)… Regards THJ1 point

You have to give Hume a chance, once he gets dialled in he could be OK.Acouple of visits doesn’t tell you much.He had a decent season in 2021.1 point

It's a bit of a yes & no answer. King's Lynn are now between a rock & a hard place. Of course, sticking within budget is important but just as important is to get out of being the worst team in the league. Fans are walking away or picking & choosing meetings more & more & finishing last year in year out will speed up the process. Thus also speeding up the lack of available funds to build decent teams. Sponsorship opportunities get smaller too the worse you get as you start accepting smaller incomes. Finish 6th (as most expect) this year the prospects for 2023 & beyond look horrific1 point

Poole, I love em! You are quite right tho about making change(s) to av a team to reach the play offs as you go through the season. Poole av been bottom then made a change, finished 4th, then.won the League. Greg Hancock was a masterstroke when he came in to turn us around. Ben Basso was our key change this season along with wise choice of guest reserves. Maybe Stars can get a rider(s) to do part of a season, it's a massive shame that Lambert isn't still riding over here & even Iversen. Hope more listen to Doyle and come back to race ere, as Discovery are televising our domestic league u wud like to think that club's will be getting a lot more money from them to invest in the riders' so the televised product is better with higher profile riders. All the best to the Stars for 2022, but as it stands it's gonna be struggle.1 point

Not sure if this is the information you are looking for, but I believe the Buxton track is about 6.5 miles from their town centre. Well away from any housing (that I'm aware of). Certainly noise nuisance could not be a problem.1 point

I think Ipswich have a good team for next season - Batchelor excepted. I've never like riders who give up if they haven't gated in front, this is why I also dislike Cook as well. I've always liked Heeps, a trier and able to pass people and Doyle & King make a solid top two.1 point

As the country, and city centres in particular, have become more ethnically diverse, Speedway doesnt seem to have done anything to try and engage the many thousands of those non white British people, living on their doorstep.. Although, to be fair, they haven't done much to attract the white British people who live local to a track either..1 point
