this year seems to have come and gone quick with having such a long break before playoffs which didn’t help our riders either maybe we should have had a few individual gap filler meetings if Edinburgh don’t come to tapes next year that will be 8 teams in championship maybe they should do away with any cups and run home and away twice in the league so that’s 28 meetings for every team and league winner is one that finishes at the top rather than playoffs then the top 4/6 could go a different trophy for a play off trophy i think a league is won over a season not 2/4 matches at the end8 points

Mate, It's a bit of sport, it's a bit of entertainment, It's not Russia Vs Ukraine, no one is dying in the streets. Stop getting so het up about the integrity of this or that. If you enjoy watching the sport, go watch it,if you don't, then don't, but sometimes it looks like people just live a weird life on here moaning about everything. Let the promoters get it wrong, it's their right to if they want to, they own the business. But if all you are going to do is get wound up about everything other people do that you think is wrong, you're going to spend a lot of your life being disappointed and angry at the world.6 points

Who told you that , there has been no freebies in years. Have you just arrived from 2015 in a Time Machine.5 points

Ah tress somehow managing to defend the shambles that is British speedway. A pairs competition that they can't complete, a season opening league cup with the final in October & the league championship decided via a play off system. Even though there are two remaining league fixtures to run, one of which could have changed who finished 1st & 2nd & therefore who faced who in the semi finals & therefore who was in the final to decide the championship. But yes tress there ain't much wrong!5 points

Barring a couple of meetings our crowds have been very healthy for the last few years round about the 1000 mark or slightly more wouldn’t be far away.4 points

Why shouldChampionships clubs be punished for the mediocre standard of rider in top tier.4 points

100% get all that from the logistical angle... However... It is yet another situation where those who run the competitions completely devalue their own output... If anyone really took it seriously then Sheffield would not be happy that each other team had home advantage and they didn't... Instead we have another "make do and mend" which is absolutely fine, just as long as the promoters understand why many loyal fans of the sport then decide to give many meetings a season a miss... As. If those who organise competitions don't take them seriously, then why should the fans? Season on season the same nonsense is allowed to pervade... Which is a shame given the raw material to work with...4 points

Think the fall out after the promoters conference could be interesting. The rumour is that the points limit in our league will drop to around the 39/40 point mark . I assume this is to re-establish more of a gap between us and the Premiership rather than some misguided money saving exercise. The excuses levelled in the past at the amount of riders performing in both leagues was - " not enough riders " or " we need to be in both leagues to make it pay " . Well it looks like a good few of the Championship heat leaders will be forced to give up the second tier which won't go down well .4 points

I've heard everyone has signed for Leicester (and they are all doubling up with Birmingham)4 points

I don't get why people say he was on a false average. It was unfortunate (fortunate?) when he got injured but the fact is he was averaging 7 points a meeting and riding well at the time of his injury.3 points

Tero is very good when he wants to be which is mainly at home if he turns up . Away he's dire and not worth the points used on his average personally wouldn't waste them on him and as we know it's a numbers game3 points

The sad fact us with the cost of living and fuel prices increasing it is only a question of time before visiting supporters become a thing of the past. When you consider what it must cost for fans of say Plymouth or Poole visiting Glasgow or Edinburgh and vice versa especially since 'tours' seem to have all but disappeared it is understandable that crowds are falling and at this point in the season play-offs and Mickey Mouse Jubilee meetings may be seen as extra income to promoters but there is a limit to how many meetings fans will want to attend. I know its said on a daily basis but speedway needs a major restructuring but promoters seems to be the only ones willing to accept that and it is only a question of time before speedway is only a ride at the fairground.3 points

BSPL Meeting, gate receipts to them, BSPL pay the prize money, so makes no difference. Any incidental income/expenses for the clubs involved? They have the same Owners, so I hardly think anyone is going to lose as much sleep over the change of venue as you are3 points

Still just making excuses for incompetence. If Sheffield can't stage 16 home fixtures in seven months, that's a major problem.3 points

What a stupid comment, especially from somebody that has lost their club this year smh3 points

Before someone else comments, Leicester probably have more than 2 of their current side riding in it, but for other clubs3 points

Lack of TV coverage? It was on the biggest sports platforms in Britain for over 20 years,, sky sports,,, then on to BT sports... It hasn't not been on TV for almost 30 years. Instead of investing that TV money wisely,,, they wasted it. Speedway was given the perfect opportunity for all those years,,2 points

I honestly do not think we will compete at all. I get the impression that our Promotion think untrained chimpanzees with an IQ of a dessert flea and the brain cell capacity of an unborn toad could do a better job at running British Speedway as it stands. And I would wholeheartedly agree with them.2 points

First name on the team sheet for me next season. Been fantastic for us and will improve on that average whichever position he rides, which is the name of the game after all. I personally feel that maybe Adam and Jack have risked over-committing themselves at times this season, but again Adam’s average is attractive for next season. Honestly wish we could get them all back again next season as they’ve been the best group of riders to represent the club in many, many years.2 points

I think it was extended with kids race etc as new people felt 20quid for 15 minutes entertainment wasn't good value. Tried to make it more of a day out than just 15 heats of speedway. Now, you and I I'm sure very happy to live without it all but I'm sure a lot of homework would've been done on this and Glasgow does have a far younger crowd than most tracks I've been to2 points

Prem could be slightly stronger next year with some coming back? But still think Champ needs to be a bit closer to NL, so not as big of a jump for NL riders.2 points

I totally get what you say, and agree completely that speedway in the UK is operated INSPITE of the people who run it, not because of. In general, they are clueless, corrupt, and I despise 90% of them. But they own the business model, it's theirs's to do what they want with. They play like most sports, on the fact that Fans feel some connection, when in truth they are just customers of a product, who in general will suffer all kinds of ill treatment before finally giving up their affection for a brand In my youth, I used to think that many professions had integrity and honour. Politicians, Police, Teachers, Solicitors, Accountants, to name just a few. I now know that's not the case, so my life has fewer disappointments. I no longer expect anything other than to be lied to, I just now look for a few "good" people amongst a sea of distinctly "average" or "bad" people. It's just a shame like you say, because speedway "could" be so much better than it is. But sometimes this place just becomes a centre of excellence for moaning. Just when you thought you were fed up with the sport, someone else pops up and suggests something else to moan about.2 points

For the people who can just rock up on a race night however infrequent they are and just enjoy the racing and not worry about anything else that's great, and in a way I envy them. But there are plenty of others (many of whom I expect have walked away) who ned there to be integrity, rules to be written and followed properly, for there to be a regular, almost habit forming fixture list; for there to be no guests, for the promoters to at least appear that they give a toss. The most important people of all are those who pay to get into a speedway or pay for a stream, without them speedway doesn't happen and riders don't have a career here. It's about time those who need integrity and a well run sport were given what they want, the other lot will turn up and enjoy it regardless. There can be a lot of negativity on here I grant you, but it's because people care and get frustrated by the garbage administration of it all. Its very difficult not to look at Poland and be envious.2 points

Think the owners may very well be completely fed up with a few things that have occurred throughout the season. Just my thoughts on things.2 points

"Wasps attendences dropped by over a quarter due to the lockdowns and never regained their previous level" I think the same thing has happened with Glasgow with many not returning after the 2020 and 2021 seasons were curtailed. Even this season started late and ended up all over the place by August and the fans are simply fed up and along with all that is the uncertainty over money at the moement because people are really starting to struggle to make ends meet. The lockdowns really hammered this country and whether or not you were pro-lockdown or anti-lockdown the fact is this country is so screwed right now. I've never known a time when the government were paying people's bills for them but even they won't stretch to a Glasgow Tigers season ticket for everyone. I can't see many sports surviving apart from the English football leagues.2 points

Apathy is the only thing coming from Ashfield these days. There has been very little posted about anything on any of the social media sights. Terrible way to treat the fans.2 points

Correct but it's only championship supporters that are suffering.. nothing else being reduced as far as I know? Keep hearing this gap is too big, last few years had bewley, Brennan, flint, kemp, Palin, Edwards, Jenkins, the Thompson's, bailey all make jump from NL and hold their own and most on 5+ averages. Imo there's now an issue with the your program. Few years ago the youth champ were about 50 riders, this season was there even 10? I can't think of 5 riders are ready to move up from NL from last season. The issue is they're either not ready or not good enough. The solution is make them better not weaken the leagues2 points
-
Incorrect. We want it to be same level as it's traditionally been. Not watered down because the prems been watered down. They should fix their issues not weaken out league2 points
-
They've built their league into what it is now whereas we've done the opposite and run ours down. Maybe they do have less restrictions but there is so, so much more that could be done with British speedway. Just need to find the right person or people to rip it up and start again.1 point

Poland have no problems to overcome Baggy, it's a piece of cake to promote over there! I'd like to see what they'd do with the restrictions our promoters have to work with, be it track, stadium availability, lack of riders, fixture list that has to fit in with every man and his dog, lack of sponsorship, lack of televised coverage, lack of paying fans etc etc. Basically they've got speedway like we had here in the 50s, 60s and 70s!1 point

1st leg should have been held tonight, Poole's traditional race night, the night they "had" to race, the race night they relegated themselves for... just because nobody wants to watch them and watch the footy instead should not be a reason to not stage this leg tonight1 point

I'd like to see Marcin Nowak do a full season in the stripes and I think Paul Starke should be on the team sheet for next season. He's been a good servant but I think Cookie will need a new challenge elsewhere if he is to keep any enthusiasm for the sport. As much as it would be nice see Ben back I can't help but think he and Tom maybe have more ambitious plans for their careers and will both want to step up their level of competition. Maybe if Glasgow moved up a division they would stay but I can't see a change of race night being in the Promotion's plans. Perhaps Glasgow can put their Australian and Danish contacts to use and Fraser Bowes may be worth taking a chance on and perhaps there is some other young Dane on the edges of breaking through. I mean if we can help Berwick secure a good 'un we must be able to find another for ourselves. (Would be nice to see our asset Anders Thomson back but again I think ambition may be the obstacle).1 point

Apparently Collins is signing copies of his book at some pub near Belle Vue on 27 October. A bit unfair if people can walk up and just buy a copy there, and get it before the people who paid for the advance copy back in the spring and have been waiting 5 months.1 point

I agree, but then why agree to 3 legs in the first place? If a one-off on a neutral track would be poorly attended, why agree to that at the AGM? Could easily have said highest runners up & ran 2 semi finals! Can't understand how issues have only arisen since qualifiers were finished?1 point
