  1. Good to have josh back, hopefully can kick on again this year and try cover Sams absence. Cracking idea with the advent Calendar something a bit different to keep fans engaged over the Christmas period.

  2. You obviously haven’t seen him at foxhall. Always looking for his partner on the first turn and throughout the race. we won many last heat deciders and superheats because of him helping his partner.

  8. Wasn't there rumour cookie was going to Redcar, then once Edinburgh knew they were running they obviously would want him knowing masters was wanting to be closer to home. Not saying who promotion talking about but not dissimilar average to riss

  12. Newbies probably have no idea of team strengths so a lower points limit means nothing to them. It's the fans who pick & choose their matches who are likely to attend less

  13. He was decent along with Heeps at reserve,,, since then neither have carried on improving,,, both riders have have since regressed.

  18. I love him,, would be the first name on my team sheet on that average,,,,out of the three mentioned,,, he should be the one to average improve more than the other 2. The problem is,,, would he be given a number 2 slot,,, let's be honest, he probably needs a bit of love and attention to bring the best out of him,,, but it looked like they protected Danny last season.

  20. Basically riders are self employed mercenaries and will go for the best deal for them which is probably fair enough. The only positives in having assets is you receive a loan fee and the value of the rider is offset on your BSPL bond.

  21. Like others have said it’s a decent team with solid heat leaders and a few younger lads who will hopefully improve (which is one of the pleasures of watching speedway). Question mark over Shanes but I’m willing to give him a chance and if he can chip in with the odd heat win from number 2 then all well and good. Looking forward to watching this team and another season of excellent racing at Redcar.

  26. Monster heat leaders...three of the best in the league. Danyon Hume should do well as back up to the big three. Jason Edwards will do a job at number six. James Shanes I never saw coming. Coming back from injury so may struggle a bit at first and may end up swapping with Edwards in the reserve berth. Jake mulford I saw last year at Kings Lynn in lewi's testimonial and he won the three reserve races and looked well tasty. If he rides like that for us he could be a awesome signing on a 2.00 average. Overall a interesting side packed with potential possible top four side if we steer clear of injuries....well done the bears management on putting a good side out...roll on 2023

  33. I see that young Zischke was a little unlucky but rode quite well in the Queensland State Champ earlier today. Speedway News PL reported the following regarding his efforts. However, Tate Zischke can talk about a lot of bad luck. The recently crowned Australian Junior runner -up in the second series of heats miscounted the laps. Therefore, from the three points next to his name, we wrote down only "one" and from the last qualifying place he advanced to the B final. Finished second in the B Final to Zane Kennedy but beat both Keleher and Hook.Just needs to refine his lap counting skills . May well have cost him a place in the A Final. Still looks a rising star at 17 I believe. Queensland State Championships at Bowen: 1. Ryan Douglas (3,3,3,3,3) 15+ 1st A-Final 2. Declan Kennedy (3,3,1,3,2) 12+ 2nd A-Final 3. Kozza Smith (3,3,3,2,1) 12+ A-final defect 4. Zaine Kennedy (2,D,3,3,3) 11+ 1st place B+W A-final 5. Tate Zischke (1 ,1,2,2,3) 9+ 2nd B-Final 6. Jacob Hook (2,2,1,3,2) 10+ 3rd B-Final 7. Zane Keleher (2,3,2 ,2,3) 12+ 4th B-final 8. Bradley Page (0,2,3,1,1) 7 9. Cordell Rogerson (0,2,2,1,2) 7 10. Flynn Nicol ( 0,1,2,2¸1) 6 11. Matthew Day (1,2,W,1,2) 6 12. Broc Hall (3.0 ̦D,1.0) 4 13. 35. Another northern track opening (especially running on a weekend daytime) is always going to a lure to riders. Throw in that Armadale isn't everyone favourite track and uncertainty over its future it will always be tricky to put a side together at the start BUT there will be plenty of riders on the phone once a few spits at other tracks start filling up.

  38. https://moneynerd.co.uk/average-personal-debt-uk-2022/ It seems to me that "our households" are full of people who "must have now" so much that personal debt is at record highs. I don't think that the way that the government runs the country is any different to how the average household is run. But of course, you can always blame the government but you can't blame ordinary Joe, can you? Because ordinary Joe looks just like you and me, and we can't be seen to be blaming ourselves now, can we?

  42. I haven't ben since their NDL days so can't comment on the specific of what they do now and there have been mixed reviews but mostly very positive. I think the bigger picture though is that they have FREEDOM to do it the way they want to do it and want to PROMOTE it! Promoters take a lot of stick but they are effectively in a Closed Shop that would do an old Eastern Bloc dictatorship proud. That's not entirely the fault of the current directors, its the drip drip of previous uninspiring Management Committees who set down Rule and Rule and had no coherent strategy. Of course IOW have also got FREEDOM from £10k or more BOND (£3K I understand in NDL) £15K or more Asset List (that in most cases has no market value or relevance and in actual fact is a closely guarded secret full of ex riders) £20-30k additional Bonds which new Entrants / movers up to CL from NDL have had to pay in past few years. £xxxx.xx for sole supplier Tyres that defy the Trade Descriptions Act which can only be purchased from storage in erm Scunthorpe! £xxx for Insurance whoch has to be purchased from you guessed it a Sole Agent who pays a fee to BSPL Ltd for exclusivity (Martin Lewis eat your heart out) £xxxx/xx SCB Fees to pay for them to oversee the BSPL with completely blurred lines and sharing Directors / Management Committee in part. (like a Politbureau and a Sub Politbureau) Strich Rules and a Rule Book that is a complete joke, insistence of which day you race and what you have to do in terms of reporting - even PR to a degree that has to be monitored and approved. Club Websites that don't belong to the Club, domains held by BSPL Ltd. Fines levied if you don't toe the Party Line. IOW runs via NORA... Time surely for some Clubs to work out the excessive COSTS of BSPL and the possible INCOME of breaking free to NORA.

  43. The "Must Have Now" society that we live in, is the reason why the national debt per person is so high, we cannot go on passing this debt down to future generations, sometime or other this debt has to be paid, people are going to die with credit card debts. If we ran our household budgets like the government does its finances, we would all be out on the street. As a pensioner I am only reasonably comfortably off, because I scrimped to buy my own house, and now don't pay rent. People moan about interest rates. when I had a mortgage it, at one time went up to 15%.

  44. I agree with you about intervals. I take particular notice at King's Lynn which is my nearest track, and people use the bars and eating outlets throughout the meeting, and don't make a rush for it in the interval, so an interval isn't needed from that point of view. Generally speaking, the track is graded on and off throughout the evening, so we don't need an interval for that. I often wonder why there is a need to grade the track, weather situation conditions apart of course. I know that speed doesn't make a good race, but I've noticed particularly at Peterborough, races tend to be a bit slower after a track grade. Obviously, I'm not a rider, so there might be benefits from having it graded after every four heats, but unless a rider or ex-rider comments on that, we can only guess. Going back to Mildenhall, I so hope they can find a way round the financial shortfall, and it was noticeable that the crowds were lower last season, and it's just unfortunate that due to stadium unavailability, they went for weeks on end right in the middle of summer, with not a single meeting, and during that time, the public found other things to do, that maybe they liked better or as much as speedway, so didn't return. The length of time it takes to stage a meeting in the afternoon, doesn't unduly worry me personally (it does in the evening) , within reason of course, but would of course if I had a 3-hour drive home at the conclusion of the meeting. I wasn't aware of that many people complaining last season at Mildenhall, but I certainly was in the previous season (2021), when many walked out before the end, and said they would never return, and unfortunately didn't. I was lucky enough to visit the Isle of Wight for a meeting last season, and I say lucky, because the variation of things they did, not just on track, but off too, mainly for youngsters, made the entire evening a real pleasure to experience. Riders were happy to greet and talk to you prior to the meeting and in some cases afterwards, dependent on their ferry time. Promoters Barry Bishop and Martin Widman were happy to wonder round talking and laughing with their paying public, intermingled with any duties they needed to tend to. You were made to feel a part of the event, and not just somebody sitting watching, without anybody even knowing you were there. The announcer was probably the most clearly spoken, taking breaths between a few words, that I've heard for a long time, anywhere. At no time giving race results, times etc; over bike noise, which is certainly a problem at my local tracks. On the occasion I visited, the infamous Christina Turnbull was the referee, and I found her most pleasant to talk with, and a lady with a great sense of humour (please don't come back with Belle Vue v Sheffield..LOL), and offered you time to converse with her . Yes, a really great evening out. Would it work in say the National Development League, then I have to say I don't see why not, because the IOW stage 15-heats of speedway, plus a nice variety that changes from week to week of other events, such as speedway riders racing on grass track machines or the upright engine bikes, which attracts riders that have been long retired, returning to race. If you are a sidecar racing lover, they provide that from time to time. Ladies races, kids races. I made my way back to the ferry wishing I could be there the next week, because I'd felt part of proceedings all evening, rather than just somebody that has handed over his entrance money, with nobody caring or knowing I was there. So I think the NDL could maybe try something similar for a season, and if it doesn't work, then knock it on the head the next year.

  45. Why heat 20 ? there could be a big pile up in heat 19 Are you saying that anyone in the top 8 after 20 heats who cannot ride in the semi`s should be replaced by the next in line and their finishing place( points scored) is adjusted accordingly ? Not sure i agree with that.

  46. I would have considered Max Clegg or Matthew Wethers for team spots if their averages hasn't suddenly gone up. Not sure why they really have to remove the Newcastle fixtures from the averages as all they are doing in making averages less realistic. In this case almost certainly putting two riders, who have been loyal to British speedway, out of a job!

  47. Did anyone see this on BBC1? Some lad wearing a shirt made up of pictures of an Arena Essex racejacket, Trackstar fork cover, and a Speedway Star logo. Think he said his name was Ole something? He said something about being a competitor in a "Roo Paul Drag Race" (??). (Looking at him I'm guessing this is something to do with people in women's drag rather than actually being drag racing). Whatever it is, it said it was coming on BBC iplayer soon.
