  1. Thanks for the detailed reply , clears that rumour up.

  2. Last year Vissing averaged 8.00 at home & 6.19 away, so on a 6.24 rolling average that's fantastic value & I'd certainly expect him to improve that.

  3. Can't disagree with that it's all about bike time

  4. By the process of elimination I think Vissing, Rowe and Gilkes are the final three and they fit perfectly. Borke & Hodder -> Berwick Sedgmen/Riss + Castagna & Fredriksen -> Edinburgh (Rumours Riss isn't doing the Championship so likely Sedgmen) MPT & Mountain -> Scunthorpe

  6. Promotors just can’t help themselves, can they? Almost bragging and wanting a pat on the back to say well done about how much you’ve spent - yet all this does is just show utter incompetence of how he’s spent that money. Poor sides assembled, poor results attained, poor management and worst of all, so far absolutely nothing to entice large numbers of fans (new and old) through the turnstiles - that is the biggest mistake of all. I really hope 2024 and beyond is successful for Birmingham as it could (and should) have the makings of being a very successful speedway team with a decent stadium and facility and big numbers of surrounding areas to tap into for speedway fans but you can’t help but feel it’s got a common theme to it with other previous owners and clubs dotted round the country.

  7. I think its generally accepted that Flint will probably benefit from a fresh start away from Berwick, sometimes riders get a bit stale and need a change. Can certainly see the logic in Glasgow going with him rather than Vissing. Equally Vissing would be a good, solid signing for Worky.

  8. Yip if he got round the 1st and 2nd bend he usually fell at the 3rd.

  9. This the same guy who was at Plymouth who looked like he was going to fall constantly and wasn’t very good?

  10. Would that be the all time worst ending to a promising looking side ever?

  11. In a team with limited UK track knowledge......Vissing would serve you very very well.

  12. “I have not had a call from anyone in the top league and that has angered me. I thought I showed enough when guesting last year but that will be Edinburgh’s gain as I am channelling all of that emotion into doing the best I can for the Blue and Gold. Can't say I agree with Paco's comment about being overlooked for the Prem, I can't see a single club that would be strengthened by his signing on a 4.00 average. But I think he's a good signing for Edinburgh. Could be a 6.5 rider next year.

  14. No longer allowed or not got a ride? Either way nice lad but no huge loss, arguably took up the place of a brit last season and would have again this year, NDL should have stayed brit passport only but bowed to pressure of a couple of teams.

  16. Improve on a 6.24 rolling average? Yes, he will.

  17. Not a Vissing fan but whilst he may not improve he is still a 7pt+ man.Wouldnt be the worst signing. IMO

  18. Says who? Yours is one of those posts that spreads the sort of fake news that turns people like Lefty off from going to Birmingham for the speedway.

  24. His average only ruled him out because Leicester kept Joe T. Shame a rider who really needs NL racing left out, rather than a rider who's riding in the Prem. Could certainly hinder Max's Poole scores, not many riders race Champ only in their first season stepping up.

  25. It looks like a familiar Scunthorpe team again! Tbf knowing Douglas was leaving it was a massive hole for Scunny to fill. I think by signing Howarth they have actually found a very good replacement. He knows the track and the set up and has shown at Sheffield that he’s not phased by having the number 1 on his back. Which before Dougie, it always felt like Auty rode worse at number 1 than number 5. The reserves obviously look weaker than last year, but so do nearly every other team’s. Ablitt is always a trier at EWR and was pretty good to watch so after most of the season there he should hopefully be fine with an entire season as the more senior reserve. Especially getting more EWR races in the NL. Then Harrison is a cracking prospect. Hopefully no pressure on him and he’s guaranteed a place for the whole season, knowing that he’s got the ability to pick up some points every now and again.

  26. I don't think Nathan Stoneman will return to racing. Last season's injury & the arrival of a baby has made him review his lifestyle & I think he is happy to be a mechanic on race nights. I think Boughen should stay in the NL setup for another season. I know he has ambition & wants to race at higher levels but you have to know how to win races from the front & have the pressure of being a rider within the team that is looked upon to return double figures & be in the big races at the end

  27. I'm not sure I understand the arguments against Roynon i.e "a shadow of his former self" or "past his best" etc - of course these statements are true, you'd be signing him as a reserve! If he wasn't "past his best" he wouldn't fit in under the points limit. I think I made a similar comment about Iversen at Lynn, people saying he's not a top rider any more & I'm thinking "but you're signing him as a 3rd heat leader / second string" I suppose it would carry more weight if people suggested stronger alternatives? It's very easy to say he's no good without suggesting who'd be better.

  29. I'm really pleased these new rules for the NL have encouraged Leicester to drop 32 year old Max Perry, who after 6 seasons in the NL is unlikely to make the grade at Champ level or above & replace him with 16 year old Luke Crang with only 2 years experience in the NL & looking for a doubling up spot in the Champ! *Spot the deliberate mistake

  30. And then signs Sam Ermolenko as team manager, who has shown in his tv summaries that his only qualification is a degree in talking complete bollox.

  31. Fair play to Tolley for putting huge amounts into bankroll speedway in Birmingham and also provide the few other tracks who make money another team to ride against thus helping to keep the League going. But one day he will tire of losing money at such an alarming rate so will get out and then who else would be prepared to take on the reins? Trouble is with speedway is the ageing fanbase, its an over 60's club and kids aren't interested or/and have no idea it exists. I suspect if you went into Ipswich Town Centre today with a clipboard and asked people who look like they are under 20 years old what is speedway a large percentage would have no idea and Ipswich is one of British speedways hotbeds and still get decent crowds. Birmingham is like London in that much of the population are ethnics who don't have any interest and likely don't know speedway exists while many of the original White British population have moved away from the City. London had speedway 5 nights a week in the immediate post war years which was before the ethnic migrations to this Country and as late as 1971 London had four speedway teams. Smaller Cities and Towns seem to fare better as knowledge of speedways existence is much more visible and is seen as part of the "fabric" of the area. - I think nowadays London could maybe support one speedway team but it would need a brave person prepared to sp*nk money at a level similar to Nigel Tolley in order to make it happen. The outside viewlines at Perry Bar aren't great but I suspect that more fans would put up with this if a successful promotion was in charge. And going with my instincts I'll be surprised if the Brummies 2024 are challenging to even get into the play off's. Many speedway fans have also been under the impression that the One stop shopping Centre wasn't available anymore for people going to speedway but its been mentioned on here in recent posts that is not technically the case if one knows the parking rules there. Surely the speedway promotion could make this clearer?

  32. It isnt only fuel that has a negative effect on a riders costs when they travel long distances.

  33. Basic sense says that proving a decent product generates a decent crowd and helps make the league sustainable. Giving riders team spots because of links to the club rather than ability is flawed. The IOW dont charge riders to ride, they generate a product where rider levels are closer and have a track which produces good racing. The NDL could easily do the same but teams are still being built with heavy heat leaders and new 3 point rookies so the same mistakes are made over and over again.

  34. If that were true, why not give Katie Gordon the number 7 spot? Obviously they want to sign someone stronger, so winning does come into it. Clubs will still want to be competitive - not suggesting this would happen to Redcar, but if a team got thrashed every week & no fans turned up, leading to the club pulling out the following season, there would be even less spaces for developing riders.
