Believe what you like, but the Poole No.7 has literally signed a contract to ride until the end of June. Please go and ask him if you don't believe me.4 points

Surprised that Berwick Management have not commented on the Rory rumours one way or other.Did he sign for next season and is in the Team.3 points

Have you ever considered the possibility it may just be YOU? Having had dealings with the Triggers for a number of seasons and on a weekly basis last season I found them all to be lovely people, Ben is still just a kid , looking to have fun, and occasionally has ‘too much sugar’ but you get that with all kids looking to enjoy life. Lighten up !3 points

Well someone of that sort of ability indeed! But magic and a little bit of coercion that other Clubs don't posess gets them on a 4 point average to fit in their Poole team!3 points

I think it is safe to say that this is a dilemma he won't need to face ..😁3 points

Nathan's the lad who, at the end of 2023, chose not to travel up to Armadale for the final NDL match of the year "because it was raining, and might not be on". BV Colts had to run without him, lost the match and -- quite possibly -- the league. Doesnt seem to be a willing traveller!3 points

I hear that the F1 World Champion, Max Verstappen, is to do Community Service in Rwanda for swearing during an interview. Where would it be appropriate for former speedway World Champion, Tai Woffinden, to do Community Service in view of his past tendency to use foul language, and what should he be obliged to do?2 points

I reckon I'll be partaking in one for the first time since the Waggy years, very decent value.2 points

Ooh this could get really messy, especially if riders are signed and then a switch to a potential north/south split occurs. North - Edinburgh, Workington, Middlesborough, Belle Vue & Scuffield South - Oxford, Leicester, Birmingham, Kent & Plymouth (can't see Kings Lynn bothering if its a 5 way split) North looks ok and would open a path for Glasgow to join 2026 but South would be nervous with 2 only established teams and the others re-joining this year and Plymouths reputation of NL hokey cokey might make future seasons less viable......that said when has Speedway ever planned for the future.2 points

One thing I was always critical about was that season tickets didn't offer value for money. You often only had to miss one meeting for any saving to disappear. But for the past couple of years things have been much better in that regard and think the 2025 one offers some decent value. As someone who attends every home meeting and always buys a programme, a saving of £6.50 makes the risk worthwhile. Add in that it's a team I'm looking forward to watching plus being able to walk straight in without hardly queuing, makes getting one a no brainer for me.2 points

and that’s why many of the kids don’t last long, they forget to have FUN ! Look what happened to Joe Haines, Kyle Bickley and quite a few others….all very professional and burnt out before they were in the mid 20’s !2 points

Cheers, if someone say's Hook should be doing better - fair point, or there's better riders available - could be, but he's not improved or Leibmann's better - strongly disagree.2 points

Sorry for the slow update. It was a sarcasm Mr Worrall, you are talking like he's the Second coming of Christ. If Glasgow want to pin hopes on 2 guys potential who averaged a combined 2.56 then fair enough All I'll say is watching Sam McGurk who somehow averaged more than both of them was painful.2 points

Freddie Hodder won the Stars of Tomorrow competition in September, ahead of competition from the likes of Connor Coles, Jake Mulford, Jody Scott and Acr Pijper. The same Freddie Hodder scored 6+2 while guesting for us at home to Oxford at the tail end of last season. Our top five will throw every single other team in the league around like a wet towel, but make no mistake: the acquisition of Freddie Hodder is a strategic, planned piece of business. The exaggerated focus on our reserves is an attempt to persuade themselves, not us, that everything will be okay.2 points

You shouldn't need to have to keep up with the rules, when Birmingham announced his signing, should have said what average he was on, same as Oxford with Kildemand. Can't think of any reason why they don't!2 points

I certainly wouldn't want to be forced to pay for a programme. Rarely buy them these days as I use an app. Petrol and entrance and drinks are enough for me. Not sure why programmes are sold separately - have them available at the box office then if you are paying by card you only pay once and don't have to worry about cash2 points

I can only assume you didn’t see any Glasgow meetings last season, or you’ve suffered a serious brain injury. The word ”woeful” doesn’t even cut it. The biggest letdown in the history of Glasgow speedway.1 point

I am not sure Newman would love the drive from Weymouth for a home meeting . If you go by the rumours we are looking for 3 riders not 2.1 point

True but home meetings have always been so important in terms of results and overall perception by supporters. In a way, it becomes an issue for those four teams if visitors are weakened by Polish actions. The visitors will be less of a draw at the turnstiles1 point

If the temp reserve has a 2.3 average, he can be replaced by a 2 point rider. If clubs make a single change, they can sign someone on an equal or lower average, don't have to fit under the points limit. I can't see Paul Starke being the temporary signing as he's 99 likely to score more than his reserve partner (can't think of any 2 point riders who would outscore him).1 point

Funnily enough I thought of him when i saw this thread - when he spent half a season riding for Arena he always did look smooth and classy on the bike even at the ripe of age of 43. My other choice is Andrew Silver leg trailer extrordinaire. To a lesser extent Troy Pratt - his style also reminded me of Andrew, particularly wen riding Arena's tight bends.1 point

so assuming you attend all 13 meetings its a saving of around 3 quid a meeting if you dont buy a proggy and 6.50 if you do1 point

Yes but Tobias won't be facing another season having lost his best friend and mechanic as well as becoming a dad for the 2nd time! With a new and respected mechanic, his end of season scores, which didn't affect his GSA, will continue upwards and out of reach of a reserve, imo.1 point

Averaged 7.11 (1,779) in Denmark in 2024 for Esbjerg, second in their averages. Less than Becker & Holder Snr but more than Blödorn and NKI. From 4 fixtures, averaged 5.26 (1,316) in Elitserien for Vargarna, Less than Douglas & Tungate but more than Milik & Harris. Last appearance in the UK was for Somerset in 2018 in the top tier where he averaged 3.81 from 6 fixtures (2 home, 4 away), plus two appearance in the second tier with Ipswich where he averaged 4.00. Finished 5th in Danish Individual Championship last year, 7th in 2023, 10th in 2022, 7th in 2020. Looks like he'd be a solid #2 but not anymore than that.1 point

The Poole No.7 is signing knowing full well, from the beginning, that he's only there until the end of June.1 point
-
I agree they could have the best 1-5 in the league, but don't see Hodder being one of the better reserves. Maybe he'll improve, but as things stand Glasgow look to have the weakest reserves in the league. Could still do very well with that top 5 though.1 point

It's a shame to read this, because I thought he could develop into a decent level of rider, but this isn't promising. Imagine if he reached the GPs and realises he'd have to leave the country nearly every other weekend?!1 point

Good for Phil, this could be right up there with his innovative coloured start mats at the pit gate for televised meetings.1 point

Kerr has been a solid rider for many years. Too many injuries has held him back but I don’t expect for a second for his average to drop. Rowes a quality signing, possibly the best bargain average signing in the league. If Poole do go safe with Starke and a 2 pointer it’ll still be the strongest 1-7 out of the teams announced so far. And if you add Cairns in to it, I can’t see anyone getting near them in the playoffs1 point

Well I wasn’t at the social event, but it was posted on the Bears facebook page pretty much as soon as it was announced and I posted it on here soon after. So a bit unfair to say it was only the privileged inner circle.1 point

Actually Killeen is below 4, so could have ridden before the rule change. I'd like to think Morley could come back in that situation.1 point

Sure it'll go all season at least with the set up at Iwade. I think every fan of Eastbourne and Kent realises this is a new venture and think it'll enhance the support. Distance maybe a problem for some, me included to go on a regular basis, but as said think spectator numbers will be good enough to make the project successful.1 point

Great point about Jake being a good team rider. He is our best at that. Circa the times he saw Nathan Abblitt home at Scunny. Jake is accomplished on the bike and safe so he makes a good race partner. He knows where to put the bike and the EWR inside out. We can benefit from having three Aussies in the team. They're here to race and its like a brotherhood away from Oz. They thrive on that. We dont have riders with double up commitments at the outset. So the focus is on their racing for us. That can pay-off for us. As ever we get behind the Team and it is very "backable" Some top guys in there that will put 100% in everytime. Look we wont win them all but its guaranteed going a be "action packed" watching us try. Up the Scorps 251 point

Feel some people are being a bit too negative regarding the Scunthorpe team. Of course it's weaker than this years team they finished on 43.83, so have to drop lots of points to fit under 40, only Poole finished with a higher figure. Suggestions of only one heat leader are a bit daft, Allen is clearly a 2nd/3rd heat leader. In a weaker league, I also see Lambert & Mountain as an acceptable middle order pairing. As long as Declan can get close to his starting average, they'll always have two food reserves, looks as if some other clubs will have 2 x 2.00 riders at reserve (or at least one) so a definite advantage there. I don't imagine they'll get many (if any) away wins, so big home wins & bonus points will be their target. Hard to judge where they'll finish till more teams are completed though.1 point
