  1. As much criticism as Plymouth get for not replacing missing heat leaders (Kennett & Covatti) how many other Championship clubs have been able to replace injured heat leaders in recent years? While there haven't been a great many long term injuries, clubs have struggled to even sign riders willing to ride on a temporary basis: Berwick (Schlein), Birmingham (Auty), Edinburgh (Pickering), Redcar (Riss / King) & Workington (Zischke) have all ran with guests & r/r in the last few of years rather than finding a temporary or permanent replacement. Berwick couldn't even find a replacement for a reserve, happy to run with guests for Borke. Only heat leader I can remember being replaced is Steve Worrall & that was by someone with a second string average. So while it's certainly not ideal Plymouth running two out of the last three seasons missing a number one, before people keep criticising them, think to yourself - would other clubs have done any different?

  5. Have to agree to disagree with that one. Granted there are less sides around than in years gone by but why on earth would you commit to championship racing without having a good idea of your side , scraping around how they are looking for heatleaders is just ridiculous.

  7. Probably because they wanted to get stronger in heats 2,8,12,&14? As much as I want Cook as part of a strong top 4, I would not have let go of Zischke or Vuolas, so could've ended up with a team like: Troy Batchelor 8.46 Craig Cook 8.42 Tate Zischke 6.96 Annti Vuolas 6.40 Vinnie Foord 3.90 Jack Smith 3.64 Sam McGurk 2.00 Total 39.78 So would Cook / Smith / McGurk score more than Bowes / Etheridge / Hook? I definitely wouldn't want a team with Foord starting in the top 5, I would not drop Zischke or Vuolas under any circumstances, so to create the strongest Workington team, it means either Cook or Batchelor had to go!

  8. Time to be more positive in your posts, get behind the comets and stop bitching about what if so and so signed. We have speedway for another year get behind the team, if you can put your hand in your pocket and do some sponsorship to help the promotion out UTC

  9. There could be a lot of reasons on why the promotion chose Troy over Cookie. I wouldn't be surprised if it was down to wages though. Workington are running on a limited budget and Mr.Bains has been very vocal about backing the team and bringing the numbers in. I really hope speedway at Workington is here to stay for the foreseeable but it doesn't seem promising after only two seasons.

  10. Yet another one of those 15 year old riders tipped for greatness but went on to do nothing. hes been known as a scumbag around Newport for some time now. Well before his days in speedway. not as bad as Garrity but another with no brains and a drug addiction. Mental to think he was under Phil Morris' wing.

  11. There's no incentive for them to race in the development leagues only, as there's so few fixtures, seems a lot of work to run a stadium for only 4 or 5 home fixtures. I'd suggest the correct league is the one in which the promoters can make the most / lose the least money in.

  12. I'd have to disagree with the first part, if the fans know the team, then it's their choice to attend or not, they ain't getting ripped off, as if they don't think it's value for money can simply choose not to go.

  16. Is it a coincidence that for three years in a row, Craig has been “let go” by his previous teams? And, regardless of press releases, always for the same reason - unreliability? Was there not a suggestion that, when Leicester signed him earlier this year it was because they knew his top league average meant they’d be able to get decent guests when he went missing? How many meetings did he end up racing for Leicester?

  18. At times last year batch was better than cook and At times cook was outstanding and batch not so good Personally don't think there's much in it On track Maybe batch is lot cheaper than cookie and that had a part to play in it Dont think the teams that bad to be honest

  20. I think Marquez should be relatively safer this season as he will be on the best bike on the grid which he hasn’t had for about 5 years so hopefully he won’t override. Unfortunately I think Acosta could struggle as I doubt KTM will be spending much money on upgrades as they are in big financial trouble. I see the auditor has said they will be pulling out of all the Moto GP classes which would be disastrous for Moto GP, they didn’t state when this would be.
