  1. This northampton situation is the strangest business model I’ve ever seen annd I know I’m not alone, apart from buster and his digger what is going on ? Were they pushed into making a decision to run by the time scale but haven’t actually secured the finances to run yet ? How do they expect to attract a fan base from the local area when nobody knows it’s actually happening, opening a new sport to an area that’s not really got a history of it and making it a success is hard enough but they seem to be giving themselves the worst possible start to achieve it,

  2. I can only presume it is to show those councils currently deciding on whether to give house building permission, on ex Speedway sites, that the sport isnt in steep decline and confidence is so high in its growth that a new track has opened... Those fighting the developers can point to both Northampton and Buxton as examples of people seeing a bright future... Personally, if they had a couple of hundred thousand to spend I would have used it to grow the businesses of the 14 current tracks through national marketing and special offers... An extra 500 at each would make a huge difference given the low starting point, and bring another 7,000 fans in to the sport.. Even if Northampton is a "success", there won't by anything like 7,000 there each meeting.... Fingers crossed it works, however, the optics of having your team compiled by your opponents doesn't sit well in a professional sport....

  3. Ah right yeah, it did get known as “The podcast”, but yeah No Brakes No Fear is the actual name. Glad you enjoyed Bruce anyway, I’m hoping to do more stuff like that during the season this time rather than in the winter as has been the case. It’s great there are other podcasts around now which weren’t there 5 or 6 years ago. Personally I think we need more club specific podcasts / YouTube channels, either official club backed or just fan based ones. And for those podcasts to collaborate with each other and not see it as a competition. People will watch and listen to more than 1 thing, and what’s clear is if you watch or listen to 1 speedway show you’re probably going to listen to more, the stats prove that.

  5. Well if Tom has ambitions to reach the top then he needs to keep progressing as he has done to date A great opportunity to push on to that 'real No1' status

  6. Howarth in for Wright, I think Scunny can win this although Redcar have got quite a few riders that go well round the EWR. Redcar website is poor, no mention of this meeting.

  8. He certainly thrived with the extra responsibility of being a number 2 at Birmingham and last year improved again. He looked very impressive at Lynn last week especially coming back from a broken leg.

  13. Like I said I don’t use the British speedway website, I’ve probably heard the bits played in the stadium in the background but can’t say I’ve actually listened to what’s being said and didn’t realise it was part of a podcast, the only radio station I listen to is planet rock and more the point is as much as I love the sport I rarely listen to podcasts about it, I think I’ve listened to 2 that I can remember, 1 was rob godfrey on 360 podcast which was the say nothing I thought it would be and the other was Bruce penhall with your good self which may of been on the said mentioned podcast, I listen to podcast most days but for whatever reason just not speedway ones, like I said initially I hadn’t heard of it was probably because the poster had called it British speedway podcast and not no brakes no fear which I had heard of but not listened to, anyway the fact that it’s not for me is irrelevant, it serves a purpose in the sport and getting rid of it is a mistake but not surprising

  15. It remains available and you can listen to all 168 episodes here.. It was promoted in every club match programme, on Brtitsh Speedway social media channels every single week including video clips, British Speedway website including embedded player which is still there, 5 min cut down edit played in all Premiership stadiums during every meeting for the last 2 years, and also interviews were shared with a number of BBC Local Radio stations too. So pretty impressive that over 5 years you’ve managed to avoid it 😂🤷‍♂️

  17. You can't put water on a track with no dirt , it would be like a skating rink. Speedway is very dependant on volunteering so fair play to anyone that does , gets you in for free at least.

  22. I normally make a point of not commenting on here as it can just descend into petty arguments, but I feel I should respond to some of these. We completely respect everyone’s right to decide whether to renew there season ticket, but it’s worth clarifying a few things about the fixtures. Season tickets are sold on the basis of a set number of meetings between March and October — that hasn’t changed. Gaps in the schedule aren’t “missing” fixtures; they’re largely there to accommodate away meetings on shared race nights and to hold reserve dates for semi-finals and finals in competitions like the Knockout Cup and BSN Series, its ok to say what if we don't qualify for them, but what if we do? Last season there was heavy criticism about fixture congestion late in the year during the cold wet months, so spreading key dates across the calendar is a responsible approach. A lot of the gaps have now been filled with Saturday NDL fixtures to maintain continuity, as we did successfully last season and the date for the Under 21 final is still to be announced to fill another gap. The idea that there must be a home meeting every single week isn’t really how modern sport operates. In most professional leagues, home and away fixtures alternate weekly or even fortnightly. For example, the NFL regular season consists of just 17 games across 18 weeks — and it remains one of the strongest sports brands in the world. Experience shows that when additional meetings such as challenge matches or individuals are added, they unfortunately don’t receive the support needed to justify them. In reality, it’s about quality over quantity — ensuring the fixtures we stage truly matter.
