  1. SIGNING | PIRATES SIGN RATED DANE Poole Pirates have filled the vacancy left by the complications in travel encountered by Czech rider Ondrej Smetana, by signing the promising young Dane Benjamin Basso. FULL STORY https://bit.ly/3yqcUws #Speedway #PiratePride Edit - Poole Pirates account on twitter
  2. Haha, 3 top league meetings tonight and not one on tv. Maybe they miss us lol.
  3. I'm sure it was discussed when deciding to drop down a league was being discussed as it was out in the media pretty quickly that Middlo wasn't able to do all the away meetings. But seeing as BCD isn't in the local area for the media coverage, we'll let his cynical view off, for now!!
  4. On paper I agree. But depends what some of their riders think of the Poole track (who haven't been before). Also depends who is guesting for Ben.
  5. Covering the league well then?! The promoters can't be getting much in the way of tv money!
  6. This could be a tougher test for the Pirates than Leicester potentially. Sam Masters Richie Worrall Josh Pickering Nathan Greaves Kyle Thomson William Lawson Luke Crang (speedway updates line ups) Obviously Masters and Richie know how to ride Poole well. I think Nathan has been at Poole before with Swindon, think he did alright. But I am not sure about the others? However considering they won at Glasgow definitely not to be undersetimated. Edit - not sure if there is any news on Ben yet or guest and I guess the no2 position isn't filled yet?
  7. Poole at reserve for Sheffield, so they should do alright!
  8. Hasn't he hurt his shoulder? Feel it more around Monmore I would imagine.
  9. Blimey. We only had Batch for one season and that was in 2007! He was really good that season apart from getting in trouble with doing wheelies on the way to the tapes and not knowing when to settle for a 2nd place rather than going for the tiniest gaps for the win! Good times!
  10. Ah yes I remember that. Hans and Cegielski. Best reserves Poole have ever had i think!
  11. Yeah I would always for top heavy than average all the way through. Reserves can always improve too.
  12. I don't think he was getting enough meetings to stay match fit imo. How many riders have said in the past that they need to double up or ride abroad as just riding in the Prem isn't viable enough.
  13. Yes, I like these YT podcasts (or whatever the official name is for them). I hope you are getting a good amount of views. I only knew about it because I already subscribe to Speedway Portal and saw it in my notification section! Good job.
  14. Well Poole is better VFM these days. They used to have kids under 5 free entry, now it is kids under 11 and seeing as I have a 9 year old that saves me £6 each meeting I attend
  15. I will send a response but I feel if most people who send a response are from the Coventry area they will take more notice as I see you have to include your address..
  16. Chris Holder being the most realistic choice! However it depends how good friends he is with Batch, might break the friend code taking his job!
  17. Personally think it is a case of Batch not riding enough to get any good form going than dropping his average.
  18. Yes i posted on twitter that I am glad Poole were there last week! phew.
  19. Tbh a club has in the past cancelled a meeting cos a GP was on the same night. (This was a while ago though prob early 2000s) But that was when more the top league riders were in it. So it's not a surprising question but I thought Scunthorpe would have cancelled/rearranged the meeting a lot earlier if that was the case.
  20. Yeah Scunthorpe club acc on twitter said earlier there was heavy rain and continuing throughout the day.
  21. Shame though, think he'd be better than Tungate or Lasse Bjerre imo. If he has dual nationality, does that mean he has passed the British Citizen test? If so he derserves some sort of reward cos that think is impossible to pass! I had a go at some of the online practice ones to see what it's like and you have to get 75% to pass and I got 62% lol.
  22. Yes, sometimes you are better off not knowing too many of the rules! Edit- as well as Leicester fans I did see a Coventry one. Which is good to see they are still getting their speedway fix with other midland teams to support til they get sorted again.
