  1. Having been to Leicester last week and saw an awful meeting with one decent race it was great to come to Peterborough this afternoon and see a cracker of a meeting, love this track, roll on more sunday afternoons. Nice and close all the way through and a last heat decider what more could you ask for really enjoyed that. Happy bunny this evening.
  2. Very cold afternoon, the stadium improvements they have made are to put some boards at the back of the home straight stands. The meeting was a bit boring and the Coventry team looked poor, best race of the day Garrity and Wozinak fighting for the win fantastic riding from both of these young men. Garrity looks to improved a lot and Leicester have a good find in the young pole. It was a very cold day, mothers day and two other meeting being run on the same day so I wouldent read too much into the size of the crowd. No clock on the centre green which I thought was a new rule for all clubs, the Ref missed Doyle stepping off his bike at the starting gate another new rule and King jumped the start twice in the same meeting should have been given a fine for repeat offence this isnt a new rule its just what I think should happen. Really glad to get in my car at the end and warm up it got to the point where I couldent wait for it to finish.
  3. For those of us who cant afford these trips, does anybody know if the highlights are going to be on MotorsTV this season, hope they are really enjoyed it last season.
  4. I agree that its pointless to stop the race, isnt that the reason they have the black flag with the helmet colour board that they sometimes show to a rider to let him know he has been excluded. Could this be applied to the racing as well as they come round for the second lap the start marshall puts out the flag and the rider has to pull up and get off the track. This would keep the meeting running and they would soon get the message to stay still at the start, the biggest turn off for me is going back to the pits after a false start as somebody esle said go back to the start straight away any rider leaving the track is excluded and any mechanic coming on the track gets the rider excluded as well. I would like to see a card system put in place as well that goes through the season and if you get enough points you are out of a couple of meetings. While Im at it,I think the rider who touchs the tapes should get an automatic 15 metre handicap and not be allowed to be replaced by another rider at the tapes, speedway is a team event and the team should feel the punishment not just the rider. Putting a rider in as a replacement for a tape toucher only effects the excluded rider, the team managers would soon start to worry if this happened a lot.
  5. Its does make me wonder at times, most of the support from these meeting involve family members and how many can travel on a wednesday compared to a sunday but your Probably right LH.
  6. This might be a wild shot in the dark, but does anybody know how Jason Lyons is. Ive often wondered how his leg is since the accident that finished his career, at the farewell meeting we were told he couldent ride a bike and had to be very careful as it was taking some time for it to mend. Anybody over there in Aus or going any chance of finding out as the bloke is a legend around the Brummies and Belle Vue, it would be nice too know he is all better now.
  7. Sunday meeting might help with some of the more distance teams coming to PB, Kent, Kings Lynn just to mention a couple and it might help bring in supporters from other local tracks with nothing to do on a sunday. Is this just Brummie meeting or does it involve the Heatherns as well.
  8. Im not sure but the film "on any sunday 2" showed some of japanese speedway and it looked very boring.
  9. Things I would like to see 1 get rid of the double point rule 2 tape touch automatic 15 metre handicap, no replacement rider from the tapes. 3 false start straight round to the start again, if you go off the track you dont come back on again. 4 bring back the rakers 5 card system maintained throughout the season to riders who try to jump the start or lay down on the track, get to a certain number of points and you are suspended for a week or longer and twice in one meeting and you are out of the meeting. Not allowed to replace the rider for the rest of his rides. 6 better prepared tracks all over the country.
  10. The BSPA meeting is going to be toured this year under the heading of a farce, it will be at all major theatres..
  11. Intercontinental final, vojens denmark 1981, first trip abroad. Started the usual time of 7.30 and then had some rain about half way through and stopped the meeting for a while and re-started it again after some track work and we left the meeting just after mid-night. We always joke it was our first two day meeting. Does anybody remember the grand slam meeting at Peterborough in the 80s I think, started in the morning and went on forever, I love my speedway but I was sick of sitting there by the end and couldent wait for it to end. Happy days.
  12. Bugger, back to work on Monday after having 10 weeks off after a foot op, dont think I will be in a fit state to drive over to Brandon straight after work, it must be Matt Fords fault. I was hoping it would be the week after.
  13. Ive already been ripped off by one promoter this season.
  14. so there not really getting punished then, just fined, which they wont have to pay judging by the woman that came around during the meeting yesterday at Monmore collecting to help them pay the fine.
  15. Well we held them to 55, not your usual 60. 4 number ones in the same team no wonder you keep beating everybody, enjoyable meeting with a lot of red and yellow about, shame about the gate jumping its becoming a habit with some of the riders. Throught the track rode well.
  16. whats the weather like at the moment at monmore green.
  17. Yea bring on the sunshine and the usual well prepared track we get at monmore green, Brummies by 20.
  18. Enjoyable afternoon at Peterborough, nice sunshine and well prepared track, some of the racing was quite good and an amazing heat 15, Former Brummie Ostergaard comng from the back and fighting all the way with another former Brummie Sedgie. It will be a great shame if we lose this great stadium and track, hopefully somebody esle will come in and help out. I never thought I would ever say this but Margaret Vardy was the ref today and she did a good job of keeping the meeting running along steadily, the first 10 heats done in an hour, no messing about, the riders just came out and got on with it, no silly grading because the track had been well prepared before the meeting started. This kept the action coming even though we had the dreaded rirder replacement as well. Well done Referee Vardy.
  19. Any idea of the teams for this meeting, Ive got the Panthers team of there web site, but they dont mention the Edinburgh team which seems a bit strange, help anybody, thanks in advance. Hope this isnt the last ever meeting, great stadium with a fantastic track.
  20. The CO now there was a man who could present a meeting, sadly missed.
