  1. Both Brough Park (Newcastle Greyhound Stadium) & Sunderland are owned (run) by the same company Arena Racing Company (ARC), and, seeing as they didn't want speedway at Newcastle, they are very unlikely to want speedway returning to Sunderland.
  2. Let's nip this in the bud shall we? Firstly, I am NOT critical of "all things" Berwick. The only issue I have is the lack of what I would call entertainment of the track/"racing". I certainly don't have a problem with the promotion, in fact I think they do a fantastic job in keeping Berwick going (this includes previous promotions, not just the current ones). Again, if you can find me saying that "I get my fix at Workington" (or something to that effect) then by all means post it/quote me, but as I say, you will not find me saying that. Saturday was my first visit to Northside to see speedway. I visited many years ago with Bob Tasker (GRT Media) when it was still a training track and Worky were still at Derwent Park and GRT recorded the meetings there (at DP), as we did that day. We went to Northside as Bob wanted to see what the set-up was like there. But we didn't see any speedway at Northside. I'll wait for the Quote from me.... but it will a be long wait, as I have NEVER said "I go to Workington".
  3. I think what I said was that I hoped to get to Workington at some point in the future. I certainly did NOT say I get my fix at Workington. But feel free to put up the post where I say I go to Workington. I doubt very much you will find it though 'cos I never said it. Tell you what, I'll save you the bother My actual quote That's total rubbish. Very few of my just over 5,000 posts have been "moaning" about Berwick or "Mr. Barrie". My "observations" are not all negative about Berwick. Re-read my previous post where I praise previous and the current promotions. The only thing you are correct about is I go to Redcar by choice. That's my personal choice. And when I get the chance, I will head across to the West Coast to go to a Workington meeting.
  4. I saw many meetings at Workington at Derwent Park, but it was my first meeting at Northside. How difficult is it to understand that???
  5. Read what I said - It was my first meeting I'd seen at Northside. I've been to God knows how many meetings since I saw my first speedway meeting at Barrow in 1973.
  6. I'm a neutral - that was my first meeting I've seen at Northside - I'll be back. End of.....
  7. Would Allied Vehicles get involved with a club who (according to you) are not going to run Championship next season? Maybe, but, this is a Poole thread, not Workington.
  8. And we all know who is to blame for that. They were quite happy in the NDL only to be forced up by the powers that be.
  9. A change at #7 according to Plymouth Facebook:
  10. Firstly, put him/her on "ignore" then, plus you don't have to reply to anything he/she might say. Secondly (where you say) "offering up your opinions on anything and everything", that is what the Forum should be about, not the endless bickering and name calling which it now, nearly always, descends into.
  11. Taken from Edinburgh website: "Joining Adam in the team is Dayle Wood - a new name to British Speedway but with experience from Australia. The 28 year-old from Wagga Wagga, New South Wales has raced motorcycles since the age of 6 before transitioning to speedway in 2018 having always watched and loved the sport." https://www.edinburghmonarchs.co.uk/news-centre/article/2023-02-08/roynon-and-wood-join-monarchs-academy
  12. Surely you have to include Dayle Wood in that remark? Hagon is still young and learning. Being at #2 can't be helping, as he comes up against the oppositions #1 in his first ride and (probably) a much stronger #2 opponent. Jack Smith has been around for quite some time now and clearly isn't getting any better, but clubs still insist on giving him "another" chance. Arguably the same could be said about Dayle Wood (new over here, but has been riding for quite a while) and has maybe reached the standard he will achieve?
  13. There are number One riders out there that can guest, but Plymouth choose to use lesser riders at number one, that to me is "cheating the public". Perthaps I'm "constantly preaching negativity" on the Forum because the sport is going down the pan and clubs are consistently allowing it to happen, rather than try to do something about it. As for the "sport will soon be gone" see above.
  14. Jody Scott is now in the main body of the team (from 1st Aug) with a GSA of 4.50. Trigger (GSA 3.34) guests for Mulford (the SGP2 rider you allude to) who is now at reserve (GSA 4.43).
  15. Copied and pasted off BSPL website report of meeting: POOLE defeated Oxford 48-42 in a controversial finish to a thrilling Cab Direct Championship clash at Wimborne Road. Pirates No.1 Richard Lawson completed a 15-point maximum in Heat 15 as the leaders maintained their unbeaten home record in the league, having been given a tough test by the Cheetahs. The visitors were left fuming, however, with the events of the final race which was initially stopped due to a malfunction with the starting tapes only for the re-run to go against them. Lawson was backed up by skipper Zach Cook with 10+1 and Lewis Kerr on 10, whilst reserve Francis Gusts scored 12 from six rides for Oxford and Sam Masters scored 10+1. Lawson said: “Tonight was very tough. I think that has been the hardest match so far this season. We had to work hard for it. “It was one of those meetings that I knew was going to go down to Heat 15 and it was just that. They ran us close, but we got the win. “They outgated me in the initial run but in the second one Sam made a really good one and I just had to battle into that first turn and fortunately I got around.” Cheetahs manager Peter Schroeck said: “The ending of that meeting was diabolical, to be honest. “In the final race, there was no consistency. We were on a 5-1 in the first staging – and Sam and Francis knew what they needed to do. “That was stopped because of the problem with the starting tapes. But then have the same problem in the re-run and yet let the race continue – I have no words. It robbed us of a draw and taking the race to a Super Heat.” OFFICIAL REFEREE SCORECARD Available here
  16. Except when it comes to another club calling and wanting him to sign for them mid-season and asks his then current club (where he was captain) to release him. Yeah, very "selfless".
