  1. Yes and no really. I did think with our crowd levels ( before covid) it would be a tight line financially, but with what seemed good sponsorship and the brilliant media side would be ok, but then covid happened. I do think alongside Birmingham and Kent to name a couple, we had a successful product taken away that was sustainable even now, and that was the proper National League of a few seasons ago and clubs like I've mentioned had no choice to go Championship or probably disappear as the NDL now seems a non event really, not a proper league and not as good a development tool. IOW bravely took things into their own hands which looks to have been a success for them which I comend, but does look a bit dire for a lot of clubs, we will see!
  2. At least from Ian it will be a cut and dried statement of fact as usual and everyone will know what's going on good or bad. Need to do it as if these are just rumours ( although unfortunately I do think there must be some truth in them) need to nip in the bud as crowds will be affected even more if the rumours aren't correct.
  3. Definitely would have too much hair for Peterborough, might be a frightening sight for most of the team.
  4. I'm not 100% sure, but think Bruce Cribb holds the outright 4 lap record on his ice bike at Eastbourne, about 2 seconds faster than the speedway record held by Crump and Chris Holder and about 20 years before their record. Obviously he's somewhat older now as I imagine the bike is, but be interesting to see how fast it still is on a large track.
  5. I think when the NL 'peaked' about 5 seasons ago it was probably around the standard of a Championship Lite today, so would be ideal. At one point we had Adam Ellis( on the way up) and Ellis Perks in the team ( and still didn't win the playoff that year). Similar standard today as of then, would still lead to the likes of Brennen, the Thompson's etc improving to heat leader status, and the likes of Abblit progressing maybe more quickly than now, and still leave room for the emerging talent to come in at reserve. Maybe be able to expand the second halves at these meetings and always have SDL and MDL meetings etc after to bring that talent. Won't happen though .
  6. He's always been erratic throughout his career for club or country, just continuing with the same trend I imagine.
  7. I think we had the product a few seasons ago at Eastbourne and clubs like Birmingham and Kent, with the right balance of good racing and cost, the NL as it was at that time, too successful though for the upper echelon of the BSPA , so they had to put a stop to that. I know this will open up the 'but it's a development league', but it didn't do much harm to for the likes of Brennen, Kemp plus too many to mention.
  8. Good win for the Eagles with a good team performance, more comfortable than the scoreline suggests really.
  9. I'm sure the stats are correct, but no Richard Lawson is a surprise, having seen him race at Arlington and on tv in the Premiership, wouldn't swop him with any of the above.
  10. So a shuffle and a switch instead of a swap if I get it right
  11. Makes you realise how good Bob Dugard was on the tractor, was almost part of the entertainment, the fence never seemed to be in danger, but he didn't take any prisoners with the 'dirt rakers' , they had to move out of the way a bit quick on the odd occasion.
  12. Personally think he is where he is and didn't manipulate his average at Sheffield, not sure its the best signing for the championship on his average, if he doesn't bang in 12 plus points every meeting home and away for Kent it won't strengthen them overall, but last throw of the dice I suppose to resurrect the season for Kent.
  13. So pleased for him, I did moan at him for earlier performances on here, so its good to see him back to near where he should be. Ideally if the form continues, think we sould have him at 5, and Kerr back to 3 which seemed a successful partnership with Brennen.
  14. Out of the window and flown away already I fear.
  15. Seems to be a regular thing for a lot of teams away at the moment, Eastie normally do the same away. Think a fair bit is the wet June weather, seems to catch the home team out more at the start of a meeting as its alien to the norm for them, taking half the meeting to get the track back for the home team to feel comfortable, then being able to bang in the points late on.
  16. I think he'll get some confidence now out of the No1 position, and hold his own and thrive in the middle order, but if his average dropped low enough to go to reserve he should be ashamed and probably ought to call it a day.
  17. The only hope to rescue Eastie's season if that is the case is Lawson continues to be a proper championship No1 riding at 1 not 5, and Lewis Kerr can maintain and improve on his start to the season ( how he's come back from his broken collarbone so quickly and banging the points in straight away is astonishing) and hold his own at No 5. If by dropping down to a second string or reserve gives Kennett a bit more confidence may work, but if he doesn't improve will be too much for the other's to carry every meeting.
  18. Kennett has been shocking all season and scored about the same tonight as he's been scoring home and away. No chance of the playoffs( see we're bottom after tonight)with a number 1 getting about 3 a meeting, such a shame as especially Lawson, Kerr and Brennen's great efforts so far this season have virtually counted for nothing with his poor performances.
  19. Indeed, will probably cite covid and say we'll implement it again next season instead of knocking it on the head I would imagine.
  20. As much chance as seeing that flying pig I would imagine.
  21. Think what may help also, is Eastbourne and Kent have just come off the back of 5 really entertaining successful years of NL racing, and although a lower points limit, both have put together 2 really good teams for the points with 2 potential future top liners in Abblit and Gilkes on show. Plus as Sings has said £14 is perhaps the big turn off for Leicester as well.
  22. Be interesting to see the up take of the Eastbourne vs Kent local derby NL match at the weekend as Saturday looks dry after a wet Friday which makes for an ideal track, I genuinely can't go but would have, as think there will be some really good races with Knight , Abblit, Gilkes, Kinsley and the rest, if it's a poor crowd, not much hope for the NL clubs attached to a Championship one. Not sure Easties break even point, but imagine it must be around 400/500.
  23. Badly worded on my part, what I meant was the stupid decision to stop the IOW running independently this season is even more stupid now, although the delaying of the last covid lifting may have even caused a problem for Barry and co.
