That was the era I really started watching, great times, I have a memory of a fantastic race between Kelly and Kenny Carter one lovely Sunday afternoon.

Premiership Predictions 2026
gazzac replied to TheTopDrawer's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I know my stuff, right about Poole and Glasgow, Tottenham to be relagated, pigs seen flying, Starmer develops a knowledge of politics.... -
Has been a winter of discontent though.....
-
Not always the case.......
-
Absolutely correct, can think of a number of 'senior' riders who were great with the youngsters in recent years, Jon Armstrong especially comes to mind with the 2 you mentioned.
-
They look like button mushrooms, hopefully won't be in the Shiitake any minute.....
-
Think the bank is offering 0% interest at the moment......
-
When it comes to speedway perhaps you need something else in the ring.....
-
Who was exceptional ?
-
Exactly and who would not like to see what the best young Brit of his age can do? Hopefully he'll get towards Brennan's level this year, I know I'd rather see a rider on the up, than one just hanging on to be a No1, just got to stay injury free as usual.

Consensus seems to be: Batch is good on his day and Cook is very good when and if he turns up, in every sense of the word. I'd be a bit worried with both in my team, but you never know.....

Maybe because he came through the Arlington 'school ', most oposing fans disliked Eastbourne in the day so perhaps maybe the usual speedway fan long memories and association? Being an Eastie fan saw him from a tiny lad, tough but always a pleasant lad.

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
gazzac replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Not a boffin, but maybe a rev limiter ( or a lower set one) or grippier tracks so they don't rev their nuts off spinning away... -
I think most people would really know the work he does for Ipswich and speedway is amazing. Sad loss to both club and speedway in general, as they say best to go out at the top......
-
What the bloke from Mott the Hoople ( one for the oldies/most of us....).

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?

If you based the total weight on a bloater, Ben Cook would have to tow a trailer with the weight in...... -
Would think probably not an amalgamation of the top 2 leagues, Richard Lawson says he's looking for a Premiership club, would surely be nailed on at Poole already if they did amalgamate the leagues.
-
Suppose this year just adds fuel to the playoffs/ no playoffs argument. Think what a great season long campaign it would have been without the playoffs with no 'meaningless' fixtures, sure the crowds for the last few meetings of the top 3 would have nearly outweighed the loss of the playoffs? Would have definitely solved the 'argument' of the last few pages.

Absolutely, no fault of his and no way will the club management not pay him.

So it's a young Benedict Cumberbatch then.....

Workington v Poole Sat 12th July 6pm start
gazzac replied to AndiCapp's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Poole will almost certainly win by more than 56/34 at home and win the aggregate point, if it happened to be a play off match would go through on aggregate. Although Poole fans aren't happy with the team, I think Ford will continue with it, still more than likely win the league/playoffs without the cost of re working the team. -
Is It Finally Time For One League?
gazzac replied to TheSmiler's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Would Weds be a problem with 1 league, assume clubs would be able to nominate a race night if it truly went down that route? -
Is It Finally Time For One League?
gazzac replied to TheSmiler's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Suppose if that's the only way for speedway to survive in the UK, suppose it's do it or pack up?
