  1. I suppose I should say I have done a couple since that time to see current (ish) bikes, worse thing is living in Chichester there's never any close by to speak of unless I venture into Kent, although did see Kelvin Tatums last ride at the Bonfire Burnup ( which he won) and some time ago saw a very young Lewis Denham mop up a meeting near Gatwick airport. Talking about it makes me feel I should try and get to a few next year.
  2. Surely the guests have been banned for riding overseas, well over Solent?
  3. I used to do solo motocross in the 70's and although follow speedway now and grasstack back in that era, haven't followed grasstack for years, or quad racing. Just a quick question is the John Elliott in the quads the former top line sidecar racer from the 70's/80's, had a few meetings where he rode, think he may have come 3rd in the world once? If it is just admire these guys who still do competitive racing through their lives right through to today.
  4. That should be ideal, but always remember the first ever one Eastbourne vs Wolves, we were by far the best all season, qualified for the final and didn't ride for at least 2 weeks, Wolves came in race ready, we were slightly rusty and didn't quite fire like we did all season and lost it.
  5. Said years and years ago, 42 points for every league and leave it alone for 3 seasons, everyone can team build at the end of the season knowing what next season will be. Too simple and won't happen though.
  6. Great to see Nathan and Jason doing the business for Mildenhall and winning the NL title, along with Tom mixing it with the big boys at BV. Ah what could have been, young locally developed riders the base of the next Dugard, Norris type of era, oh well not to be.
  7. Be great to see both , but only one choice if just the one, has to be the still rapidly improving young Brit.
  8. Indeed and imagine the likes of Tom Brennen, Palin, and a Thompson etc have 'risen' enough to warrant a team place on their averages anyway?
  9. Can't believe early on I ( and many others) were singing his praises on various things including the online booking etc. Feel a bit silly now. Just hope it doesn't totally finish the club off, going to need to be some really trustworthy promoters coming in ( hopefully) to get over this.
  10. Proving the point fixed race nights do nothing now I suppose, that likely to change?
  11. Looks set to continue as you say, I know the Poles dominating now and dictating rules is the main problem at the moment, if they relaxed the rules on only one other country how many would still ride here I wonder? Also it makes you wonder how the likes of Nicki Pedersen managed it all back in the day, when he rode for Eastie ( missing very few matches) ,he also rode in Poland, Sweden,Denmark and the GP's.
  12. That was a weird meeting, at least Tom Brennen came back from such a bad injury, one of the worst moments I've seen, but doing the business now, strange he's ended up at Glasgow through, he's the next Bewley hopefully.
  13. Thanks, fingers crossed but not holding out a lot of hope at the moment, have seen both Edinburgh and Glasgow over the couple of years at Arlington, always exciting/interesting meetings one way or another!!
  14. Sorry didn't understand the northern humour, being a former Eastbourne fan and everyone banging on about our trick track and home advantage I thought it was the same with Edinburgh. I'll retreat back nearer home now.
  15. Would Glasgow have subsidised Edinburgh the loss of revenue?
  16. I know Edinburgh have a pretty substantial home track advantage, but to me it would be unbelievable for any play off team not to be able to defend 22 points really. Only hope for Edinburgh is some successive 5/1's early on otherwise Glasgow should be able to control the gap.
  17. Very likely/probably/probably not/definitely not. I predict it'll probably/maybe one or more of those next season.
  18. Scott does seem to have the knack/skill of bringing the most out of a team, so would have only made a positive difference I would imagine. What seems almost the norm is most of the Premiership riders who did the business this season, underperformed in comparison in the championship, not totally sure of the reason, can't believe its machinery, but maybe the generally tighter tracks compared to BV and Peterborough?
  19. Being an Eastie fan, would have loved your season, but as an outsider seem to have just slightly underperformed all round all season really, I had you down as champions earlier on, and even maybe at the playoffs stage. A slight improvement all round next year will surely put you in the frame again.
  20. Think just the one point with Tom is he had a dreadful broken leg and other injuries and was put in icu for a week or so a couple of seasons ago and lost a year out virtually, and then covid struck the country! It's only this season we've seen the real Tom I think, and he is getting better and better pretty quickly now, but like the other current young crop in the Premiership and championship came through a competitive NL
  21. I think if you're pessimistic and you're right with a bad result, you can feel good to a point because you can say, " well I was right", and if the result goes like it did against Leicester you can post how pleased you are that you were wrong, win win situation for the middle aged man. I'm past middle age, unless I break the record for the oldest man ever, so don't know where that leaves me!
  22. There's someone parked in my parking space at the moment and I don't know who, so I can't moan at them so you're welcome to this one
