Oxford v Birmingham Thursday 14th March
cowboy cookie returns? replied to Aries's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
That’s a decent result for Birmingham. Tungate’s night seemed to have mirrored what happened plenty of times for Ipswich over the years up & down & Magic not the unbeatable number one many were predicting. in all fairness I think it’s going to be a very tight league this year. -
Not a bad result for you guys. Plenty of promise there.

No point asking the current fan base as they will turn up whatever. The powers that be need to be looking at what will entice new supporters in other wise the sport doesn’t have a future. One thing for certain is that the poles will call the shots & there isn’t much the uk can do about that & we only have ourselves to blame. while we have been busy devaluing the product on offer here the poles have equally as busy making their product something that tv, business & the public want to be part of……hence they are in a strong position to dictate to us.

Not getting the second lot is quite possibly part of the reason for the sport’s decline. Supporters of most team sports get fanatical about ‘their team’ they might be fans of the sport but wouldn’t dream of going to watch other teams live. Speedway very much plays to the speedway fan while ignoring the fact most supporters of team sport are there because it’s their team. That’s the big disconnect with speedway. It wants to be a team sport but doesn’t offer the tribal team feel. Football for example a Man City fan wouldn’t go and watch any other team, certainly not Man united because they could see two matches a week. More than likely they watch other teams on tv because they are a football fan but first & foremost they are a Man City fan. Please use other clubs as an example if the Manchester one offends.

2024 Premiership Predictions
cowboy cookie returns? replied to StarBoy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Quite possible at world level, however in the UK I still expect Doyle to be the best Aussie. On the other hand I don’t think Doyle was happen with his set up last year & goes in to 2024 with a new set up & big backing on an individual level from Guy Nicholls -
27 years on

Not sure you’ll be able to repeat in 2035, GB speedway has to survive for 11 years -
Came across this BBC documentary on you tube from 1997. Such a shame that nothing has changed in 27 years, although I well remember that many thought a brighter future was just around the corner.

He is hardly likely to say anything else, can’t say we have put together a poor team. little bit like Ipswich in the early 90s signed plenty of poles/czechs & even a Austrian all had potential sadly none achieved it. As for your team I would happily have had Brennan at Foxhall, Worrell is ok the Poles I think will surprise a few. I’ll be honest Milik does worry me. I think your probably destined for the wooden spoon but I don’t think you’ll be whipping boys.

Oxford Spires 2024

I don’t think you’ll find Tungate particularly exciting. Harris & Wright both entertainer’s. The jury is open on Magic. -

Who knows but I very much doubt it. unless a rider is under contract with a club legally he can’t be deemed an asset. Hence riders ride wherever they want regardless of which club claims them as an ‘asset’ The asset system is an in-house speedway thing if tested legally it would collapse. -

This Oxford side is full of question marks. Magic will he still be the Magic that was at Poole 8 years ago or will he be more like a KK or Laguta. Wright coming back from a bad injury without the wide open spaces of B.V. to get his confidence back could struggle. Before anyone says anything I’ve always liked Wright an out & out racer. Harris, well you know what your going to get a great team man who is still a proven heat leader. Great if tracks are rough will always get stuck in. Tungate, as an Ipswich supporter I can only say hugely frustrating. Has bags of talent & ability however has never really fulfilled it. With his gating gloves on you won’t get near him. However if he misses the start or is tight situations always seems to come off 2nd best. Klint, was poor at the start of last season & really started to hit some form. One of the best visiting riders I’ve seen at Ipswich & he can gate. My concern is the injury he is coming back from. The two reserves I agree Kerr is probably the best reserve in the league as thing’s currently stand & Ashton is probably one of the best talents in his age group anywhere. -
Peterborough Panthers 2023

Because he doesn’t care & doesn’t want to promote Peterborough speedway. The ridiculous part of all this is had he put some effort in last winter or earlier this year to find out all that now come out about AEPG he may have found it easier to sell the club as undoubtedly Speedway could have continued at the showground -
Team Predictions 2024
cowboy cookie returns? replied to Falcon1983's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Probably not but Ipswich need riders to improve next year & King could quite easily slide back a little. If I was putting the team together that’s the 7 I’d have. We’ll see how close I get. -
