Ipswich Witches 2026
cowboy cookie returns? replied to TTT's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
They should definitely try and put on a big meeting. If they could get permission maybe over two days at a weekend. Bags of space could have a weekend festival of speedway with food stalls live music etc -

I don’t buy that. The vast majority of fans switch off at the end of the season & come back at the start of the new one. It’s only us on here that get our knickers in a twist, a small percentage of those who actually attend. If the side ends up getting beaten week in week out then yes the attendance will drop, but the goings on this winter won’t make much difference to the attendance at the start of the season -
What about Northampton?

They certainly get a huge amount of tv coverage & bring in the big name sponsors outside of the olympics so yes we need to looking at what they are doing. -

Snowboard x Speedway could learn an awful lot from the freestyle snow sports, how they have taken a fringe sport into the mainstream. Also the two snowboarding/free style skiing BBC commentators Ed Leigh & Tim Warward are the type speedway needs for TV not the pit you to sleep Tatum. -

They wouldn’t have anything more to add to the Ipswich buy out than their last statement last week. We are now halfway though the latest 2 week window for the sale to be completed. The lease for Foxhall was a hold up but that is now resolved. -

Maybe Easter is prime in some areas for crowds but Ipswich haven’t ridden at home for about 8 years on Good Friday. -
What about Northampton?

The hold up was the signing of the lease with spedeworth. That came from 1 official & another unofficial source. The lease Louis had didn’t transfer over to the new owners. No idea what’s going on at Northampton, firstly it’s a massive financial commitment for anyone secondly the promotion would need to have a lease with spedeworth so maybe the same sort of hold up here. -

The trouble is what’s the hit they need to take? The state of uk speedway a £10 hit of last season prices & I don’t think you’d get anymore through the door. -

A modern day Cowboy type of rider would be fantastic! However he was a true one off. -

I’d put Nicholls in over Tungate. Scott is still awesome around Foxhall & would out score Tungate comfortably at home. May not be so good away but you’d get more out of Nicholls over a season than Tungate. Also no concern if he will turn up or not. -

I’m not sure I can’t remember however companies house lists Ipswich speedway promotions Ltd as being incorporated on March 13th 1989 which is the company that was set up by Pavitt & co. The same company that is now being sold. A incorporated date of March would suggest it was finalised very late. -

I’m going to ignore what I was told about only 3 returning for last year, even though the source was right about the delay being a third party or spedeworth. I’m going as the 5 Brennan, King , Edwards, Jenkins & Nicholls. im just hoping the last 2 are something in keeping with what we have been used to. An Emil u turn would be amazing -

So is the delay down to complications between Louis & the new owners or an issue with the signing over the the lease to use the stadium? The only two reasons that I can think of for the delay. Or am I missing something? Certainly hasn’t progressed as I thought it would early last week. -

Brennan King/Jenkins Edwards based on the 3 from last year theory. Fill in the last 4 without Woffy, Lambert or Rew. -

I think that is spot on. Everything is in place & certain people apart from the riders like the sponsors know what the team is. They have been sworn to secrecy which unusually they are all sticking too. -

Lots different things going on. My understanding was the team is signed an announcement is due tomorrow & the owners are who we all think they are. lets see what the week brings.
