  1. Well well so much negativity on here. We have the best number one in the league & quite possibly the two best reserve's never mind who is riding there. After the season Batchelor has I can understand where the concern with him comes from bit riding with Doyle should get him going again. Heeps is Heeps good at home should be ok. Riss is a far better rider than his current average. The comparison with Sheffield well they are taking huge risks toomWe had cook here last season and based on that is a massive risk I'm glad he isn't back. As for Muesilak I'm not sure about all the hype could be as much of a gamble as Cook, Heeps or Batchelor. We have had plenty of poles down the years and to be honest only Gollob has ever really worked out. Hample used to go missing and the rest including Miskowiak never hit the heights.
  2. So Kemp confirmed as a Wolves rider. I'm surprised a very talented local rider has moved on after one season.
  3. Maybe Ed 'lego house' Sheeran is getting involved with sponsorship alongside Tru plant
  4. This must already be known, otherwise how can you sign riders on contacts when not knowing when they are required to ride & for how many meetings for your club?
  5. 4 Ex Witches in that side should please the locals
  6. André Pollehn a supposed highly rated German Ipswich signed in the mid 90s. Only problem was he has highly rated on the longtrack scene couldn't turn the bike on the tight Foxhall heath track
  7. There you go perfectly sums up all that is wrong with British speedway in under 50 words and still they can't sort it out. Anyhow great to see Oxford back and all the best for 22
  8. Speedway has many institutional issues, one of which is institutional self-interest
  9. I've been doing a little research and revisiting old meetings thanks to you tube to try and get some sort of handle as to the state of UK speedway. My conclusion is pretty much of today's issues around the BSPA (L) bubble has existed for years. A flick though some old speedway star/mail from the era I got involved in the sport the late 80s give a pretty similar view of the problems that still exist today infighting one upmanship unable to look outside the bubble. Couple this with a recent re-read of the John Berry books all seem to lend weight to the conclusion that nothing has been down to move the sport forward in fact it's gone backwards or to rid it of the internal politics that in the end will see it collapse. So how after 35-40 does the sport still have the same issues most of the promotors from then aren't around now in yet the same old issues are still present Now viewing some old meetings from Wimbledon in 89 on you tube shows the good and the bad & ultimately what is still an issue today. Firstly the presenter Dave Lanning one of the best and his introductions, in heat commentary while also winding up the opposition all first class and would work today. However even in 89 the marching music and the records played between heats were massively outdated. Is there a solution or some form of saviour?
  10. That is a truly fantastic ride. Heeps is a little like Ben Howe, both had bags of ability but never seemed like achieving the success they should. Both fans favourites because of their all action from the back approach. On another note this clip shows both the good and bad, a fantastic heat of action truly top draw sporting action, but 1 minute 14 seconds of buggering about at the start.
  11. I know this is a Dodgy area & I myself have been critical of it. However the recent purchase by Redcar of Charles Wright & Jordan Jenkins got me thinking. In the case of Charles Wright can Redcar demand a fee from a premiership team if he doubles up or is he just an asset for the purpose of the championship? For example Redcar own his championship contact but not his premiership one?
  12. Could be worse I remember the mid 90s when they would have press day and only have 5 riders signed up! One of those press days was when the rumour Joe Screen was supposed to be on his way to sign was floating around Had the delights of Franz Lietner & Gasper Forjac trying out!
  13. Josh bates. Karol Baron would be a nightmare signing for points return but sure was entertaining!
  14. In the interest of speedway. That is all you need to know.
  15. So Doyle to Ipswich, is that possible? Has Crump retired again or does he fancy another go in 2022?
  16. No ta wouldn't want to see Iversen or Batchelor any where near the home side of the Foxhall pits. Cook maybe
  17. It's not so much the auction of equipment but the reason the sale of the showground & what that means for those who use it. The Speedway equipment might not be listed, it might not belong to the showground but the equipment is no use if the track is unavailable. I guess it depends on the terms of the lease the speedway has and if it's expired or not regarding next season.
  18. He has been loyal to you since 2016. The lad deserves the break and to progress his career as far as possible. Imagine you were working in an organisation who's business plan was running that organisation to the point of bankruptcy while paying you less than you could earn elsewhere and also restricting your development because you weren't working with the best in the industry. If the opportunity came up for you to move somewhere that were forward thinking, paying better wages while also offering more development would you stay under some misguided sense of loyalty? I wish Dan all the best hopefully he'll be back one day but that is really down to the BSPL to sort the mess out.
