  1. Was told a few weeks ago that Lee Payne and Havelock were big mates so he would be unlikely to be dropped. No idea if it's true but it would tie in with most things our part-time manager does.Signing Bowtell would have been a positive move for possible team building for next year-IF there is a next year but heh ho, Havelock maybe has a masterplan version 300.God knows what in mind.Wonder what Denis McLeary thinks privately about how things are going.I've been a supporter for best part of 45 years through thick and very thin but I can't ever remember such an apparent directionless mess as things are in at the moment. There have been good points like the covers, presentation, track which are big positives but they don't draw in the fans who want to see mostly a winning team at home.I realise injuries have been a big part of the problem but by no means all.Havelock said the club would have been in a financial quagmire if not for the covers. The way crowd numbers have fallen off recently I don't think they will be clear of that quagmire. That's probably enough of a moan for now-oh no I also meant to say that in terms of keeping the long suffering fans up to date, the website is dire.Sorry for being so negative but for the first time in 45 years I don't know if I'll bother seeing out the season and before anybody says support the club or lose it,to be honest I don't know if I'm too bothered the way it is just now
  2. Hope they got our team manager as well as part of the deal
  3. Is this meeting cancelled due to complete apathy and lack of interest (or is that the same thing)? Nothing on Berwick website or this forum about teams for tomorrow night. Oh well.Who gives a sh*t anyway
  4. Jacobs for Bridger's average really, not for the rider himself.R/r for a rider with as low an average as Bridger is no good.Would be different if Bridger had ridden to his original average but that wasn't to be.Having been very critical of Havvy all season I think this is a pretty good decision (must have been a Courtney decision) and all the best of luck to Jacobs.
  5. That's a terrible thing to say.It keeps mentioning we have covers and bad luck
  6. Fairest solution to this is to deduct Glasgow 50 league points for being a bunch of moaning wealthy prats and deduct Redcar 50 league points for trying to fiddle the curfew/end of meeting. That way we at Berwick might have just a slim chance of not finishing bottom of the league
  7. He maybe did but he speaks pretty good English so Havvy wouldn't understand him. It's a shame more riders weren't like David Howe and put their comments on the forum to let fans know what was happening
  8. I was waiting to see if anybody else thought the same as me in the way I read it.Hellish management again by Havelock to say stuff like that in public and wouldn't blame Dany for telling him to stuff his team place. If he keeps on falling out with riders soon nobody will want to be at Berwick. He's going to end up losing a great deal of goodwill that the Courtneys have built up.
  9. Looks like reserves are biggest problem now in the team. Not sure if I'm right but if 42 is the average for team rebuilding to, then going by averages up to and including last night on the speedwaygb page(not the current official greensheet) then I think we have 7.96 to work with.Liam Carr back on 3 (if allowed) plus Adam Roynon or Joe Jacobs if he gets the reduction would be a hell of a lot stronger than the current pairing.Other option would be new 2 point rider but none around or would be elsewhere. If Coty is released by Redcar when Busch comes back that would be another option plus Liam at 3 point.Maybe not building for future but might make a happier end to this year.
  10. Did there not used to be a rule that if you dropped a rider you couldn't sign him again in the same season.Suppose it might be different as a guest though
  11. Apart from all the experts on here, has there been any official word on whether this change has been ratified or not.Either from club or BSPA..Presumably if Workington not happy withe change they could object and that would force a decision before the meeting on Saturday night. In the meantime the silence from club and authorities presumably means everything is fine.
  12. Could be a bit of an embarrassment if they don't get this new team ratified after they have announced it.Still,we're getting used to embarrassments this year anyway I suppose. No meeting till Saturday so would it not make sense to check all allowed by BSPA then announce it and, if not, then still time to sort something officially, announce it and nobody any the wiser.Onwards and downwards.
  13. 100% right. He's an expert at demotivating the fans though
  14. To me it looked like as though because Ipswich and in particular Rory Schlein weren't happy with the track being heavy and wet at the cup meeting earlier in the season, they decided to make it wet and heavy again but ballsed it up completely so that nobody could ride it.Nice welcome for the new riders.
  15. Funny how Scott Courtney said in last night's Berwick programme that part of the reason Claus had been dropped was that his away scores had been unsatisfactory.Does that mean he's quite satisfied with the other riders' away scores?Bloody hope not
  16. What a complete embarrassment of a track and a team tonight. No football so why was the track in a mess at the start.I know some of the new signings may be a stop-gap till the averages change but the supporters are still having to pay for the pleasure of sitting in the cold and watching defeat after defeat.Surely the purpose of a team manager is to manage the riders, work out by talking to them what any problems are and having sensible discussions.Claus may or may not have been in the wrong but he was scoring a lot more points at home than some other retained riders.Mr. Havelock is going to have to up his game (if he can) a hell of a lot or he's going to be one of the poorest team managers in the club's history.Absolutely no confidence in his ability at all.
  17. No way.Need to get a few more team changes before we go to Glasgow
  18. Bit unprofessional if Claus took the huff because he wasn't in heat 15 last week but you can see his point. At least if he was in that heat there was a chance he would have gated and got out in front. The way Lewis was gating last week it was a near certainty he was going to be last out the gate and if so didn't have a hope of getting past the Glasgow riders.Another weird decision by the manager whose coat should also be on a shaky peg.Lessons from last night would be to put a new bulb in the white exclusion light and wash the windows of the referee's box.I hope the trainee referee in the box last night wasn't paying too much attention to his teacher or that'll just be another idiot in the making. Also maybe get Dimitri to stop watching videos of Alex Edberg in his last Berwick appearances. He's obviously copying them in every detail.Fair play and congratulations to Scunthorpe. They rode and were managed like a professional sports team.
  19. Anybody heard how Berge's injury from last week is
  20. No panic.Once the new averages come out and the reserves are Liam and Danny maybe Theo Pijper will fit in at No.4.Well he might have if the Glasgow meeting hadn't been rained off.Should have rearranged it for the first dry day!
  21. Think the management is even less competent than the team and that's a big problem
