Sheffield are due to get knocked out by Berwick on Thursday night (weather permitting and following a valiant effort), Berwick will then no doubt set up a meeting in the distant future with Edinburgh with the vague hope that the Monarchs will suffer from a catalogue of (non-serious) injuries, thus forcing them to field a weakened side that will only hammer them in one leg rather than 2...

Looking forward to this one - Scunny matches are always competitive affairs and doubt this will be any different. Proctor's scores have been getting back to normal in the Elite league so I have high hopes that he will hit the ground running for us, if Taylor has a decent night as well there should be no stopping us. Will be interesting to see how Nielsen goes at reserve as opposed to the main body of the team.

I've seen a few mentions along the lines of `this wouldn't have happened if Hoggy was involved` - Neil Machin is still a promoter at the club. He might not own it, but he is still there in the background, surely he would have been `in the know` and able to advise.

I read somewhere that Sheffield weren't told that they couldn't use r/r for Proctor until 20 minutes prior to the meeting - would have been harsh for us not to have some form of facility given permission had apparently been given for Proctor and then not being informed that the decision was reversed. Only in speedway could a decision like that be taken one day and reversed at a point in time when the effected team could do bugger all about it

Good meeting with some good racing. Lanham was a deserved man if the match. Stead found his gating gloves after 2 rides fortunately. Nielson was unlucky - I spoke to him afterwards and he felt he hadn't touched Graveson. Not sure what is happening with Poole, a match winner against Newcastle and now just doesn't seem to be able to get things to click. Roynan just doesn't seem like he has the speed at the moment, he's still got the moves but seems to be down on power. Andre scored 3 0 3 0 3 and that about summed his night up, awesome move on Lawson to get his second win and them came last in a much easier next ride. What a week Bates is having! Looked so much better tonight, fast out the start and no last places - confidence or set up? Whichever it was, it's working. For Redcar, difficult to pick a stand out rider as they all performed well, but for me I'm not sure if I have ever seen Wilkinson ride that well before, he was very fast and perhaps a touch unfortunate to not score more. I could see that another trip or 2 to Owlerton would see the Polish guy being a different proposition to the one that only got 2 tonight.

Lawson was effectively our number 1 for most of last year - on his current form I would not expect him to drop many points. We have to be confident of being able to get 3 points tonight and something out of tomorrow night - as Junior has said with Lawson missing and Konopka finding his feet, we are not going to race them at a better time.

If Skidmore follows his pattern from Sheffield he will look like a world beating number 1 for the first 2 months whilst his equipment is newly tuned/serviced etc and then he will steadily decline for the remainder of the season

I seem go recall on one of the Scunny threads somebody saying that Belle Vue have their full quota of doubling up / down riders and so he can't ride on the PL - unless of course he leaves BV

Bit harsh blaming the promotion for the track preparation - Graham has been preparing it for donkey's years and can normally be relied upon to provide a smotth and fast surface. Compton said that on the track walk they all thought that it was fine. Think we just got beaten by a team that nearly all hit form on the right night - when was the last time David Howe was unbeaten in his first 3 rides anywhere? when was the last time Auty had a decent meeting at Sheffield? when was the last time somebody turned up with a reserve like Douglas?

Well, that was embarrassing. Douglas was awesome, end of story.

As i said can't see anything but a comfortable away win and Vissing was an inspired choice of guest

Lovely day for it! Can't see anything but a decent size hom win, but hopefully there should be some good racing to get there. Interesting choice of guest in Vissing, he can be very good around Owlerton, but he has had more than his fair share of 'racing incidents' that I hope can be avoided in this occasion.
