  1. Sod that for a game of tennis! Much prefer the race card to paying 1 or 2 quid for a flimsy programme full of adverts that I'm really not that interested in
  2. Klindt signed for Swindon, so that's him out of the equation
  3. I lied it seems! Confirmation that a consortium has taken over the club is on the Sheffield website, not much more than that though - apart from confirming that fans are hoped/expected to help raise funds for an airfence. Oh, and a hint that we may go Elite in the future
  4. Would have thought that missing out on Bjerre would be as much to do with him being a Peterborough asset as anything else
  5. Morris rides for Swindon on a Thursday night and so is unlikely to sign for Sheffield (unfotunately)
  6. Always find it curious that a club can sign a contract with somebody and then change their minds without any repercussions, but if a rider refuses to ride because he hasn't been paid for a few months he gets a ban.
  7. Didn't Berwick not take him because their team plans cocked up last minute? Hence he had sponsors and accommodation on the Berwick area?
  8. That's Bjerre, fisher and Ulrich out of the equation, glad to see Peterborough are running though
  9. Jorgensen signed at Scunny which means either Birks or Klindt are definitely out of their team plans and available
  10. If we signed Compton, Facu and Koppe I think it would leave us with 14.34 to play with for the final 2 riders which is a fairly useful amount - Bjerre and somebody up to Mark Lemon's ability would fit. Think it all comes down to whether you gamble on Koppe's pre-injury form not being just a flash in the pan and Facu having decent equipment. I read somewhere or other last year that Andre was playing catch up with set ups given all the exhaust changes during his absence, if he gets them dialled in he is going to be difficult to beat around Owlerton, and that is what we need at the moment. A spectacular season for the team would be nice, but a solid season is a must.
  11. Can't believe Roman Matousek hasn't been mentioned yet!!!
  12. Koppe was hitting double figures prior to injury and is probably worth a shot - trouble is I'm not sure you could have him, facu and greenwood in one team and I can't decide which 2 I would pick
  13. You may well be right, was getting my years mixed up and was thinking Boocock had left Sheffield by then
  14. Didn't Hoggy choose the team involving Parker that everybody adored?
  15. Greenwood is definitely worth a go full time, was very impressed last year when he guested
  16. Crisis averted!!! Phew. Hopefully Stead, Lawson or Roynan - need a good positive first signing
  17. So.... It's sale or bust according to Machin. That doesn't sound good, but a further announcement to be made after the AGM and so that will hopefully be better news
  18. Personally, I wouldn't have Lambert - he had a decent season with us, but before and after he hasn't pulled up any trees. Would prefer to see Greenwood given a run. Likewise with Skidmore, his average has stayed the same pretty much since he started with us, to win the league you need to find riders that will up their average vastly. Albin, I would try to keep. I think being at reserve from the start of the season will pay dividends in that it will earn him some decent points money so that he can keep his machinery etc going - points make prizes (or something like that). Andre is head v. heart. On balance I don't think that he would be a bad rider to have on that average and he will maintain that or increase after playing catch up on set ups and match fitness this year. Wells would get in on the basis of his away form alone - bit like Sanchez used to be in that he would more often than not score as well away as he did at home. Now that he has got to grips with Sheffield his average can only go up. Not necessarily exciting to watch, but gets the job done. Roynan is always going to be a gamble given his injury history, but from we saw this year he is probably worth that gamble. Stead. No brainer. Why wouldn't you want him in your team! Lawson is another who I wouldn't oppose seeing in the team, think he did a good job for us this year as his second team and, despite the differences of opinion off the track, he formed a decent spearhead with Roynan around Owlerton at least. Anyways, any conjecture about the team is probably pointless untill 1) Machin finds a buyer 2) the league structure is decided. Will those sneaky Elite league promoters want to join forces when the inevitable happens to the Sky contract??
