  1. He couldn't get round the tight confines of Brough Park either where Luke Crang had had actually looked quite promising
  2. Go back to the sixties and seventies to see real rolling starts. In those days front wheels were regularly over the tapes and as long as they didn't actually break you were ok.
  3. Lindgren executed the pass of many a season in ht13. Awesome speedway. A drawn out first 5 heats due mainly to tapes offences but some spectacular speedway in the last 5.
  4. R/R will always out score Bellego at Brough and give the fence repairers an easier night. 50-40
  5. Thank you. Press the irony button on your keyboard dear.
  6. 15 more than we normally get at the D-Bowl. Something needs to be done about these trick tracks.
  7. A shame for Chris but your health must come first. Good luck Simon who looks competitive around Brough at least
  8. Just checked the 1976 team Combined average of 57.35 with a total of 56 maximums, of which Joe Owen scored 28 full maximums from 39 matches and averaged 11.54. He was 19 years old. If I remember correctly his only dropped points in the league at Brough Park were due to a broken chain although he did lose to John Jackson in the Silver Helmet match races (won away though and then the decider). There is no doubt at all that Joe Owen was the best 2nd tier rider ever and but for serious injury would have been world class.
  9. I wasn't there and didn't see any of the incidents but felt free to comment, same as fans who criticise the Newcastle track.
  10. How do you think it makes George English feel?
  11. Andre Compton and SId Little were pretty good at team riding Brough too
  12. I'm always amazed that when I go to a tourist information office or motorway services there are hundreds of leaflets for pottery museums, miniature railways and cat shelters but none for any nearby speedway tracks. I'm also a fan of drag racing and you will see leaflets for Santa Pod in almost every motorway services in the country and drag racing is even more of a minority sport in this country than speedway. These leaflets cost pennies these days with digital printing. Even if the promoters can't afford this (!) ask a heat sponsor to pay for it instead of a heat.
  13. Lewis Kerr gets the Terminator theme tune at Newcastle
  14. Fortunately for the Edinburgh fans, this years team is not so good as to be running up massive scores week in, week out. I must admit to being a bit bored in 1982 watching the Diamonds knocking in 65+ every home match
  15. We're all bored of Edinburgh winning every week !
  16. And tv had not been invented. Speedway is in a competitive marketplace and it's not competing.
