  1. Stunning result for the Gladiators and one I didn't expect. Gutted for Dan, hopefully not out too long. An unsung hero tonight for me was young Ablitt guesting at reserve. A couple of really important points from him made a real difference, heat 14 especially was unexpected. Two new reserves needed for Plymouth by the sounds of things.
  2. I'm not sure it's Henry that doesn't fancy it, perhaps someone else in the camp though. Especially given a certain someone squared up to the Manager after Tuesday's meeting.
  3. Incorrect. There are no pay problems at Plymouth. Let's just call it 'Politics'.
  4. Leicester were massively overrated at the start of the season, similarly to Oxford who loads of people felt would be a playoff team. I think the thing that stood out to me at Plymouth was the poor attitude from some of the Lions team, they looked like they didn't want to be there before a wheel was turned. If senior riders in your team have that approach, well then you've lost before you've started. For that I'd be kicking some bottoms! Leicester will probably make the playoffs but unless Poole go down with injuries, it's theirs to lose.
  5. A point is something but easily could and should have been more but for a corrupt ref. I'm sorry but when a rider apologises to another for taking them out but still gets put back in the re-run plus screwing Bomber over twice. He should be sacked.
  6. Wow, now he's given Kerr the win when Bomber got him.
  7. I'm further away and saw Riss take him out. Woeful refereeing
  8. I rate Lawson big time and was gutted when he ended up at Poole and not Plymouth. For Plymouth last year he was top notch, gates consistently, aggressive and fast. To think we lost him because of some daft politics is a real shame. The good thing is I don't think there is any massive beef between either side so we may need to pinch him for a guest appearance or two unless Ed is fit again soon.
  9. Harris on last nights form will be a good guest. Shame we couldn't have got Lawson though as I reckon he's more consistent off the gate and an ex Bear. I'd love to think we could run Redcar close and thought we would before we rode twice again Poole. I still hope we can do something but on the form of Barker, MPT and Anderson to date I think Redcar may find this more comfortable than thought. 52-38 I reckon.
  10. Agreed, some serious kickings need to be given. Don't care it's early in the season, riders with this level of experience shouldn't need loads of meetings to get going. Based on the two Poole meetings I fancy Redcar will be a long night on Friday too! Lets hope we get a good guest if Kennett isn't back.
  11. I'd hardly say he fenced him, if the shoe were on the other foot I'd fancy Lawson would do the same. It's racing! Looked the right decision albeit I didn't see a replay to see if actual contact was made but fencing him it really wasn't. As far as the stream went I thought it was really good, I'd say the commentators were really enthusiastic but perhaps a bit too one sided (and I'm a Plymouth fan). Either way I was really pleased with the production as a whole and will definitely use it again (not tomorrow though as Poole will thump us). I continue to despair at the track prep though, why oh why Plymouth continue to make the track so slick when firstly we seldom out-gate other teams and secondly it means racing is generally done by bend 2. You can see the track is so much smoother these days which is brilliant to see but seriously put some dirt on it and let them actually pass each other. Dan Gilkes though, what a hero! Looks a hell of a signing!
  12. Despite the result, I'd still expect Scunny to be decent at home. Often see you lot build a team for strength at home and end up getting some batterings away. Why else would you continue to sign the likes of Lambert.
  13. I'm hearing a big crowd is expected already due to online ticket sales, well over 1000 could be closer to 2000 at this rate which is great for the promotion and should create a cracking atmosphere. I like the Plymouth team overall and if riders stay fit and ride to their capability I can see us being a playoff side. Unfortunately Poole have a number of riders that ride Plymouth really well and have more experience than our heat leaders. Think Barker will go well but see Poole edging it on the night and then winning cosy at Wimborne. I can't get down for this sadly so may well stream it if they are doing it, think it should be a good one!
  14. Should be the same for all and the possibilities Plymouth explored didn't come to fruition. It shows just how much Poland pay riders when they'd rather travel there every week, sign as part of a 'squad' and not necessarily ride rather than stay fairly local and probably score a lot of points. Anyway that being said, Kennett is generally good at Plymouth and while I still think his average is way higher than it is likely to end up, hopefully he can score some decent points.
  15. Ellis isn't named yet because he can't be due to him committing to other meetings prior to his Brum signing, it was in the press release. I think he will be named from next week. Officially Plymouth can't line up at the tapes until they name a 7th rider, probably why they have been taken off the site. Can't help with the rest though.
  16. I've heard a few names banded about, one of which as referenced above seems like a no-go despite what other riders appear to be doing. Sadly I get the impression Plymouth are going to end up signing a somewhat inferior rider to Kennett which will undoubtedly leave Plymouth bottom 4 contenders rather than top 4 which is a shame given they were quick to get the team together and were well fancied. As far as Kennett is concerned I don't blame him for choosing to step away from the sport, I can't help but think this wasn't something the promotion only found out about a couple weeks ago mind you and perhaps they could've moved quicker to find a replacement. Ultimately it's the fans that will be short changed with a below par team. That said, and I think it's been said in other threads but when some teams have three number 1's in their team it can make it hard to find replacements for such an important position for other teams.
  17. Kennett isn't riding this season. They are talking to a couple of potential replacements.
  18. Not overly bothered at losing Kennett, I don't think he would ever have got close to his starting average, the timing though is pretty crap. Keleher as suggested earlier would be a shocker. He was rubbish away and at home had a couple of half decent meetings but nowhere near good enough. If Ellis could be convinced to sack off Dackarna we'd be talking! Could Bjarne fancy one more year? I'd choose him over Crump all day long. Outside of that we may be struggling. Ellis Perks out of retirement maybe?
  19. 1. Poole 2. Glasgow 3. Edinburgh 4. Plymouth 5. Berwick 6. Leicester 7. Oxford 8. Redcar 9. Scunthorpe 10. Birmingham (unless something special happens with their remaining riders) 11. Newcastle
  20. He really isn't and is a massive waste of a team spot. Lovely lad is Richard but he simply hasn't cut it in lord knows how many goes he's had at speedway. He'll have one or two meetings where he'll score 8 or 9 points and everyone will say how great he is but I'd sooner have seen Plymouth go with an unknown 3 pointer who could develop. What's worse is his average is way above his level so all in all a shocker of a signing. The other 5 though, pretty good I reckon. Extance always looked a bit awkward at Plymouth mind and will be interesting to see how he comes back from injury, always good off the gate though and that will make him competitive at home.
  21. Indeed and a few sheep to dodge on the way in and all!! I only visited once, I’d describe hi-edge as iconic! On the side of a hill in the middle of the moors. Some unbelievable views and crazy weather!!
  22. Completely agree, no way should Alfie be riding NL. Could definitely see Henry and possibly Dan. Henry could do with the rides given he missed last season, for confidence if nothing else. I think it’s great Plymouth have made the step to bring in an NL team. I just hope it proves a success and the fans get behind some young lads who we can hopefully develop into Gladiator riders of the future.
  23. I don't know if Ian Jordan is still involved in Plymouth but based on the unpaid debts he has left from Eastbourne he should be banned from all speedway. That goes for any promoter who has unpaid debts. They should receive lifetime bans. It's disgraceful and I feel for any rider that has had this happen to them over the years.
  24. Not based on what the riders did last season it's not. Atkins could be really good at reserve and Gilkes should get better but I don't see any improvement in the top 3 or Barker. If Plymouth are to make the playoffs I fancy at least 1 change at the top end would be needed mid season. Time will tell of course and lets see what other teams do but based on the strength of teams last season I'm not sure about the playoffs let alone the title.
